Today's post is a brief history of scarecrows across D&D and Pathfinder, including citations for every source—but no statblock! That's right, this blog is experimental.
This post is a springboard for some scarecrow variants (and a reimagining of the CR 4 scarecrow in Bestiary 2) I have in the works. My friend and I are also writing two variants for the wooden protector—tentatively named the ashen protector and the wooden bloomtender—that will be posted soon (TM).
Finally, another friend suggested that I write a brief history of otyughs now that Pathfinder is moving away from OGL material. If I missed anything in the brief history of scarecrows, or if you'd like to read a brief history on other monsters, magic items, or game rules, let me know.
