Unsure if the intention is to start combat or in what initiative order we should be going, so feel free to fit this in where is should go. Neghed bellows as he steps up opposite Azig and swings his axe at the opponent. "Da dog was spared da axe." greataxe: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12; damage: 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Entering Rage and Attacking, though it seems my luck may have run out earlier.

Neghed moves as quietly as he can to be opposite of Azig, hoping whoever passes comes between them. He nods to Azig to signal he is ready and he grips his axe. I doubt we'd be so lucky ta knockout who ever is coming in one blow. Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 Well, it was bound to happen.

Neghed sighs heavily and looks at the dead dog on the floor. "Ya death was unneeded." He then casts a look at Thoric before shaking off his frustration and turning to follow Azig. I was hoping that the nonlethal damage would have knocked the dog unconscious but I guess it was unclear if it had worked.

Neghed looks for the source of the growl. Dis dog don't know betta. No need to be rough. Neghed then goes to strike the dog with the butt of the axe but notes Daranil offering food. Neghed holds off on his attack to see if the beast will be distracted. If the dog attacks:
As the dog ignores the food being offered by Daranil, Neghed strikes at the dog in an attempt to subdue it.
non-lethal greataxe: 1d20 ⇒ 18; non-lethal damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 The attack includes the -4 penalty for making a non-lethal attack. "You are right Azig. Da door may op'n, best try dat first." Neghed nods as he speaks and reaches out to test if the door will open. If the door opens without force:
Neghed eases the door open as quietly as he can and takes a look around.
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
If the door doesn't open without force:
The door doesn't budge so Neghed takes a step back, adjusts his grip on his axe, and the with all his strength he kicks at the door.
Strength: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 I assumed GM and you meant that the lock was jammed or something, but yeah it is best to try the door first. But if my original assumption was correct, we can see if my kick is good enough.

Neghed steps up to the door and grips his axe. "Are we ready f'r da orcish lockpick?" He looks around to the group to make sure they are ready. Does anyone need to prep more? If no one does, I will kick in the door. I will roll Strength next post, based on what people are looking to do.

Neghed finally arrives, carrying a large axe now. "Sorry. Took longer than I expected." "I can take those Daranil." he says as he motions to the gear he wanted someone to carry. [/b]"So, as Offica Pak has said, we should get moving. My key works but is loud, does anyone 'ave a betta way in?"[/b] As he says the last part, he pulls his axe out and waits to see how the group wants to handle their entrance. I had meant to answer Daranil before. I can add a bunch to my pack if needed, assuming it's not a massive amount of gear. If the group choose stealth, Neghed will follow as quietly as he can. If the group wants Neghed to open the front door, I will do so.

Neghed looks around the group to see if anyone will ask a question of the spirit. After a few moments he addresses her himself. "Spirit, ya 'ave told us where ta find Lamm but would ya know where in 'is 'oldout he'd spend da night? If we knew dat, we might skip da kiddies. We want 'is terr'r ta end but I'd not want to 'arm innocent kids."

Neghed stands up from the table and looks towards the door. "If we are doin dis t'night, I 'ave ta do ta my room an grab my gear. Azig an Lara said ta blend in, so I did. I can also see if da fellas on da Net might be up ta watch out from da river." Look towards Pak and Daranil. "Lamm was nev'r one ta keep 'is kids fed. Maybe use somma dat gold for food ta bring. Might help earn da trust of da young'ens." While Pak and Daranil work on gaining the needed supplies, Neghed will head back and grab his weapons and useful gear. If possible, he would also check with his fellow crew members about keeping watch, but not push for anyone to put themselves at risk.

A look of recognition crosses Neghed face. "I think I know da place. Fish'rs bring da catch to dis place to process. I nev'r knew t'was Lamm's crew." "Huh. Azig 'as it right." Neghed comes back around to the point on how exactly to handle Lamm. "If we take da time ta pick off da others workin for Lamm, he will just run. Bes ta do it all in one. Neghed smiles slightly as Azig mentions distractions and crushing enemies. "As Azig says, I'm good at crushin' dem. Also, I seem to 'ave some spirit connection wit wolves. Not sure wat good it may do, but I hear dem howl at me." "Spirit, ya mention a fishry? Might be I been dere." Do I know of any such places? And if so, would I know anything about the place?

Neghed's eye go wide as the shimmering form appears among the group. He once again rubs the back of his neck. I've sensed spirits 'fore, but n'ver seen one. "Spirit, we all wish da same 'ere." Neghed motions among his companions. "Lamm has breath'd years more dan he deserve. His terr'r ends as soon as we get a hand on 'em."

Neghed pauses in the middle of a bite of cheese and stares momentarily at Daranil. ”Dere is a ghost in ‘ere?” He then begins looking around the room carefully looking at the empty space for a sign of the ghost. He runs his hand over the back of his neck trying to note if he missed the usual sensation he gets around the unseen. Neghed’s voice takes on the tone of someone who is used to talking to themselves. ”No wa’ning, huh? Did ya miss dat?” Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 Using the spirit sense trait to detect an invisible or incorporeal creature, as unlikely as that will actually be.

Neghed sits down across from Azig and reaches for the cloth covering the basket and peaks under it. "Food's probly spoil't but a drink might be a good idea. Who wants a bit?" What's in the basket for food and drink?

Neghed approaches the house with the group but stops to address Daranil. "My friend, I don't wish to practice revenge on innocent squatt'rs or even crimnals who commit small crimes. I'm sure oth'rs 'ere 'ave done wat were necesserie ta survive and we shouldn't pass judgement on anyone we find." As Thoric and Azig wait for any sign that someone is home, Neghed whispers to them when no response comes. "We should wait across da road an wait f'r Offic'r Pak to return. We don't know who might be watchin."

Neghed follows the directions laid out by his companions and quickly spots the house ahead. He stops a few building away in order to observe the house without potentially disturbing the living or the dead. "Azig and Lara, dat it?" he says and points ahead. "I know we are waitin for Offic'r Pak but maybes we's wrong. Maybes the old woman is home and we can go up and knock on da door. We could git a bett'r look that way as well."

Neghed seeing his friends heading out and follows behind. He looks around to make sure no threats are present but is unsure which direction to head from here. "So, who knows where we're headin? Our gnome friend, Pak, seems ta know where but p'haps we can look da place ov'r while we wait for 'im." Assuming someone gives an address or a direction, Neghed will head off in that direction. Leading or following as necessary.

Neghed lowers his voice to match his friends. "Nev'r seen a ghost, but I felt the spirits once or twice. If dis place is haunted, maybe dey not attack us if we say we hate Lamm as well." He then stands up and motions towards the bar. "Let's grab Daranil and Thoric. I'll follow whoeva knows da way there."

Neghed looks back between his companions with a slightly confused look. "Buy dis house?" his inquires. "That's not what I was thinkin. Was thinkin we could hire a tracker to sniff afta the kids when they head home. Not sure how ta find one or how much we'd need." Neghed not the problem solver type. Don't feel like you have to entertain his ideas.

Neghed listens to the group coming up with a plan. He nods at Lara's opinion. She is likely right, tippin off Lamm would make things harder. "If Pak has further insight into Lamm's location, or how to find his location, we should follow 'im." Neghed seems to trail off for moment in thought as an idea comes to mind. He takes a pouch from his belt and pours some coins out into his hand. "One gold and five, six, seven silva." he counts off before addressing the group. "How much coin do we 'ave?"

Neghed takes a seat along with Azig and Thoric. Missing are his axe and morningstar but he does have a dagger at his hip. "I'm not the best at sneaky either but perhaps we can move the fish to the net. Do you know the general direction they head? We pick the route we want, put the sneakier people on that route to watch and us less sneaky people cut off the other routes. It might take a few tries to narrow things down but maybe we will get lucky." He takes a drink from the tankard in front of him. "If it is going to take a few days, maybe we should consider somewhere else to meet up. I've heard rumor of a supposedly haunted house nearby. Maybe we can check it out tonight, assuming we don't find Lamm in the first go."

Neghed listens intently to Azig and motions with his head as he responds. "Ya, I know one and where ta find 'em." He looks across the bar at a Varisian man offering readings to the patrons. "Nic-somethin, I believe his name is. I've noticed 'em for a time now, 'is eyes are da same. I think he hasn't noticed me." "But let's keep an eye, and an ear for now. He's got trouble maybe. After a few moments of silence while Neghed considers the situation, he relaxes more and his voice takes a less aggressive tone. ”Pard’n my tone. Lamm left me wit a habit of see’in lies when da truth is given. If wat you say is true, then ya have much reason to hate that rat… umm, yeh sorry, that monster Lamm.” Neghed smirks awkwardly hoping he has not insulted Azig too much. When Lara tries to give him a way out of Azig’s plan, his smirk turns into a more serious look. ”You have nothin to repay Lara. Beatin kids who were small’r b’cus they didn’t do Lamm’s want was wrong. B’fore ya came I had done as Lamm ask’d one or two times, maybe a few more. Somethin always told me it was wrong.” ”If ya two are up for tak’n on Lamm, ya can count me in. I felt hidin from him was the option best tak’n to stay alive. As Azig explains his situation, Neghed expression softens a little and then shifts to concern. He looks over to Lara hoping she has a sense of what is happening. "Do we take his word? I'm nev'r been good wit lies." Neghed keeps a eye on the rat, but avoids making eye contact with Lara.

Neghed stares awkwardly at Lara when she approaches then quickly looks at his feet. When Lara mentions that the rat is working with Lamm he stands taller and looks angrily into his eyes. "Explain this now. I have no intention of actually being aggressive here, just looking to set some things up for the discussion.

Here's my idea to build on Azig's story. Neghed was spending his well earned copper at the dockside tavern that his crew frequented. The place was filled with the usual river folk but Neghed soon noticed a new face. He thinks to himself, It's not unusual to see a rat at the docks, though they usually don't order a drink and chat with the staff. The crew of the Laughing Carp begin to go their separate ways for the night and an hour after they first ordered drinks Neghed found himself alone. Neghed decided to order one last ale and call it a night himself. The server cleared his empty mug and when she passed by, Neghed noticed the rat again. The rat was watching Neghed, almost staring really. The server brought his mug back and he rose to approach the rat. With a simple gesture the rat motioned for Neghed to sit when he approached. "I know most of da faces 'ere," Neghed begins as he sits. "Your face is new 'ere but ya look at me as though ya know me. Ya lookin' for someone or jus lookin' for trouble?" The rat smiles and motions with his mug as though making a toast. He explains he is not looking for trouble at all and proceeds to tell his tale. Sorry if I took some liberties here with how Azig would approach Neghed. I got inspired but tried to not give too much of a voice to Azig.
May I introduce Neghed for submission. Unknown to Neghed, he is the grandson of the Godcaller of a Mammoth Lord tribe whose daughter was captured and enslaved by an war tribe of orcs. The spiritual connection was carried in his blood and the spirit guide has watched over him. Unfortunately, without the training, Neghed can only feel the connection through an understanding of related animals and in his rage. Rough Background:
Born to a Kellid slave in Urglin and then sold to a slaver in Kaer Maga, Neghed was eventually freed thanks to the Freeman faction. He was taken to an orphanage in Korvosa but found his orc heritage meant he was abused by his caretaker as well as the other children. In addition, odd things seem to happen such as extra food appearing in his bed when he was hungry. When another boy tried to harm him, somehow the bully ended up losing his ear. Neghed knew he would never be able to explain that he didn't do it, so he fled into the streets of the city.
Eventually, Neghed joined Gaedren Lamm's gang of thieves. Neghed was never a great thief, but he proved he could flex his muscle to get his way. As he got older though, he often was ordered to discipline the other children but Neghed found even if he tried he could never bring much harm to them. Gaedren found this weakness to be too much, and would discipline Neghed along with the other child himself. As the years went on, Gaedren abused Neghed more and more for these failures until one night he beat him and left him for dead in the cold. Neghed knew it was over and felt himself go numb, then slipped into the dark as he heard the howl of a wolf. He woke after a time on the deck of a fishing vessel with the small crew watching him carefully. They told him that he was found floating in the river and they brought him aboard, unsure how he had made it without being finished off by some predator. Neghed was offered to join the crew, and without any better offer he figured this would be a good alternative to thievery. Soon the crew begin to look at Neghed as a good luck charm. Their hauls were greater than they had ever been. The boat seemed to need less repairs. Occasionally they would see a figure near Neghed, just for a second, but Neghed never did. They would hear a wolf howl from time to time, and Neghed began to feel he could almost hear a voice within it. Gold: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2) = 9 x10=90 Still need to work out what gear he will have and work out a more formal backstory. Sheet will be updated as I get it done. Thanks.
Recruit Stetova Hevva is eager to serve House Thrune and the Erinyes company by ensuring the loyalty of the citizens of Longacre. Stetova is a straight-up fighter but will be hopefully leveling into the Sanguine Angel prestige class at 6th level. She is a disgraced knight-in-training with the church of Iomedae and looking for a little vengeance for the banishment they enforced on her. The profile has the details, including the short narrative introduction given below, as well as a backstory. I still have some formatting to do on the profile but all the mechanics should be there. Let me know if there is anything needed or if you have questions. I switched back to the Grey Maiden since you mentioned still wanting combat roles. Plus the Drow Rot Warden Druid I was coming up with didn't feel as fun. Thanks. Introduction: Commander de Boucie looked across the desk to Stetova. “Recruit Hevva,” she began, “I assume you have heard the stories of the troubles in the east. The church of Iomedae seems to think they can reclaim Cheliax from House Thrune and Her Infernal Majestrix has declared martial law in response. General Rachmirol feels this may be a chance to get into favor with House Thrune, and then move to take back the glory of Queen Ileosa’s Korvosa.”
“Her Infernal Majestrix has sent a commandment for every loyal subject to reaffirm their loyalty by swearing the Hellfire Compact, and she has dispatched agents to assure things go smoothly. Here in Egorian this should not raise much concern, but in some of the more distant villages this may be the spark that sets of the powder keg. One such village is Longacre, and the General has changed me with dispatching someone to see what the Erinyes Company can do there to make sure the people remain loyal to House Thrune.” “Commander,” Stetova says during Commander de Boucie’s pause, “a Maiden would serve well to control such a village.” “Yes, Recruit. An Maiden eager to serve, but also eager be a thorn in this Glorious Reclamation’s side. If memory serves me you would be eager to see the Iomedaean’s fall, correct?” “Yes, Commander.” Stetova said as the side of lips showed a hint of a smile. “It would be an honor to serve the Company and House Thrune. I will leave for Longacre in the morning to see how best I can to ensure the loyalty of the citizens. With the favor of Eiseth, may I also spill the blood of this Glorious Reclamation’s soldiers.” The Commander leans back and smiles. “Then it is settled Recruit. Glory to Queen Ileosa!” Stetova straitens up in full attention. “ Glory to Queen Ileosa!” She turns to leave but the Commander has one last thing to say. “Tova,” Commander de Boucie says almost warmly. “May you blade bring vengeance on your enemies.” “I wish for my blade to bath in their blood. I wish to face my former brothers and sisters, who spat when they said my name, on the field of battle. Their honor is undeserved. Their justice is false. I will strike them down and snap their shining blades.” “Thank you Commander.” Stetova says with a bow. “Thank you, sister, Coronnae.” |
