Female Human (Vudrani) Monk 6
No problem! :) I kind of suspect that H10 is going to be taken up by Coraline or the wolf before my turn, so... Seeing how quickly the wolf tore through the hobgoblin she had been fighting, Neevan looked about quickly for where she was needed most. Surely such a ferocious animal, apparently allied with them, probably called my one of the strangers by magic, would turn on the next hobgoblin coming down the stairs. The fighting was going to get too crowded in that corner, so she opted to go up. Stepping her right, she ran towards the stairway and leapt as high as she could, hoping to cut off the other hobgoblin's escape, and to see if any other dangers were coming towards them from above. Acrobatics: 15(to leap from H8 to G8) If she makes it and if she has time, Neevan will make a quick strike against the hob in G9

"Yes Master!" Neevan answered instinctively, not realizing what she said as she prepared to clear the path. The hobgoblin before her was where she had to start, as it was blocking the doorway. She inhaled deeply, tried to calm her mind, and unleashed a flurry of strikes at the hob's face and neck. Using a ki point to increase Flurry of Blows

Agh! My post was eaten! After the hobgoblin she had engaged fell under Johnny's assault, Neevan turned to see the minotaur and more hobgoblins arrive. The minotaur seemed to be well in hand already, even reeling from an unseen blow before the strange Tien swordswoman charged him. Neevan dashed and leapt at the closest of the new hobgoblins, bringing her knee down in a crushing strike and attempting to place herself between the enemy and Lady Amie. Charging the hobgoblin closest to Amie(slipping into bodyguard mode :) )

Neevan was dumbfounded by the sights around her, especially the new strangers suddenly bursting onto the scene. They were only attacking the hobgoblins, so they likely were not enemies, but still.... And she was at a loss as to why two of the hobgoblins almost seemed to stop in their tracks. She didn't think she heard anyone casting a spell at that moment... Her head jerked towards the stairs as she heard the roar and saw the dwarf seemingly preparing for whatever it was. She turned her focus entirely on putting the hobgoblins before them down before something else inevitably arrived. Trying not to be distracted by the strange woman beside her who seemed quite mad, she launched two strikes on the hobgoblin in front of her: the first a closed fist strike on his windpipe, and the second an open palm to drive his nose inward. Neevan did not notice the newcomers immediately, being further from the front door and entirely focused on removing the threat of the hobgoblins. Seeing the one she had just struck still standing, she attempted to plant a kick right underneath his chin. When that strike missed, she brought her foot right back down onto his shoulder. Flurry of Blows

Neevan felt a strange strength welling up within her as Amie called on her god. She swore to thank the priestess for her gift after the danger was past. Seeing Tate finish the first hobgoblin and take a position nearby, she stood her ground as the new enemies charged in, taking their blows as well as she could before counter-attacking with both fists. She hoped it would keep the hobgoblin's attention on her so that the sly looking man could take the advantage. Standing in place and using Flurry of Blows
I'm sorry about the mix-up with the surprise round earlier. I got a little confused.

Seeing the first hobgoblin still standing and still a threat, Neevan tried to drive her right elbow into his abdomen before following with a closed left fist to his chest. Flurry of Blows
I tried to check the map on page 12 but it was down for me at the time.

Spoiler:
Always watched over me...but Neevan's thoughts were interrupted by the sudden burst of activity. "Y-yes, my Lady!" Neevan stammered, seemingly trying to shake off some distraction as she charged alongside the half-elf. Her eyes were wide as she looked upon the woman who had just appeared. Spoiler:
Is this one of the spirits? Is this what he meant? This one is not imagining him then?! She picked up her pace, intending to rush ahead and tumble past the closest of the hobgoblins before lashing back with a kick. Init: 17
I'm very sorry about the delay.

Nightwish: Spoiler:
Neevan's eyes widened at the sight of the monkey. She had not been entirely sure she had seen it before, as wild as the night had been already. She looked at the others and then back at the strange creature, not saying anything about its presense but wondering why they had not said anything about it. Is this one going mad? she thought. What the monkey seemed to say and how it addressed her only widened her eyes further. W-what are you? she thought, not daring to speak to a monkey in front of people who seemed to be ignoring it entirely. Spirits? In this house? Neevan suddenly seemed distracted, staring into a nearby corner with wide eyes before looking back questioningly at the strangers, and then back into the corner. She snapped to attention with a surprised jerk when the half-elf spoke to her again. She carefully took the scroll back, and gently tucked it back into her pack before bowing in response to Amie's request. "Y-yes, Lady Amie." she replied, following after the woman whose eyes she could have sworn were a different color before she looked away. She looked back over her shoulder as she did so, as if looking for something half-seen earlier. Nightwish:
Spoiler: She looked back over her shoulder, to see if the monkey was still there. "Dancing girl"? No...it couldn't be....

Neevan haltingly replied, uncertain why these strangers would be interested in the birth name of a mere Khivatri. "T-this one's name was Neevan. But she will answer to any name her master gives her." She almost jerked the sealed scroll back instinctively upon hearing the half-elf's request. "This one was ordered to guard it with her life..." Her hands shook as she struggled with the new dilemma. She was not told specifically to let no one else read it, but it was sealed. Surely it was meant for Lord Blackmoor's eyes alone. But if the information could help find him, as these people seemed to be here to do... Her hand quivered as she slowly held it out, absolute fear in her eyes that she was doing something wrong. "O-only if it is to help Lord Blackmoor and his family..." she suggested, her normally clear voice faltering.

Neevan looked embarassed by the halfling's admonishing. She now felt foolish for having rushed into a situation she did not fully understand. She was about to ask for forgiveness when the half-elven woman spoke. She reached into her pack and pulled forth the scroll her old master had given her. "This one was ordered to deliver this scroll and herself to Lord Blackmoor by her old master after we were attacked by hobgoblins." She gestured towards the Varisan man's corpse on the litter behind her. She looked back at the strangers, her eyes now filled with hope. "If you are here to aid the Blackmoor family, this one will do all she can to aid you!" she said eagerly, bowing again, but this time respectfully averting her eyes.

Nightwish: Spoiler:
Neevan had been at a loss at what she had been through earlier. She had been puzzled by her now deceased master's sudden change in character, she had been amazed by the strange landscapes of the land he had brought her to, and she was awestruck by had happened today. She knew she had been witness to a miracle, that the beloved old man she had served years ago had helped her, but she could not help but wonder if his act had broken her code and doomed her. But...it was Master Varsund who actually told me what was intended for me... she thought, struggling with the difficult concepts she was confronted with.
She was only certain of one thing, her master had given her an order, and she intended to follow it. She secured the scroll in her pack, not even thinking of reading it, and rigged together a litter to carry her master the rest of the way to Blackmoor Manor. When she saw the state of the manor, she almost despaired. But then she saw the activity around it. Watching carefully from the trees, she noted the adventurers dealing with hobgoblins like those who slew her master. She did not know what to make of the hobgoblin among them. Maybe he is their slave? Her eyes widened in surprise at the door seeming to open on its own. After the strange people went inside, she rose from her crouching position and looked around carefully before attempting to quietly drag the litter out of the woods and to the front door. Stealth: 29 Once she made it to the door, she looked in to see if the strangers were still in sight. She knew now that they were no friends of the hobgoblins. After a long moment of struggling with the wisdom of what she was about to do, she resolved to announce herself. At best, they were here to aid the Blackmoor family or perhaps even members, at worst, they were intruders who had to be stopped. If the party is visible inside the door: "Please pardon this one," Neevan said quietly and politely, bowing in the doorway with her palms together but not taking her eyes off the strangers. "But are any among you of the Blackmoor family or their servants?" She had to know their purpose. She may not have been Lord Blackmoor's property yet, but she fully intended to defend him and his holdings. She would not fail two masters in the same day.

suddenly afraid of who her potential buyer is ;) I'm still hunting for a proper avatar. If only the Irori one was just a little more androgynous... Other than that though I think I'm completely done as long as everything checks out alright!
Thanks! I just looked over the regional feat again. Wow. It actually kind of overlaps with some of the Beta monk abilities. In the beta, eventually a monk's unarmed strike counts as adamantite. That feat lets me do it a LOT earlier at the expense of ki points. Oh, and thanks for the welcome, Taliesin! I'm really looking forward to this!
Got it! WISHLIST
Spoiler:
Amulet of Natural Armor +2 8000 gp
Bracers of Armor +2 4000 gp Cloak of Resistance +1 1000 gp Elixer of Hiding 250 gp (Her old master probably should have used it earlier...) Handy Haversack 2000 gp (I figured it would make sense for her to carry all of her owner's stuff) And that should leave 1000 gp left. I tried to keep it restricted to stuff my old master would actually have, but if anything looks out of place please change it to whatever seems right. I was just going to go with mundane items for the rest of the loot, and forego whatever wealth is left over. nunchaku
Looking through that list, it just seems like a bit much to me. If any of that is going overboard, please take away whatever needs to go. It's not like Neevan can complain about it. ;)
Cool! I can definitely play off that! :) I just updated appearance, and am picking through the gear now! Shouldn't be more than a few minutes! Nightwish wrote:
I just got to look at the feat. Wow, are you sure you want to allow it? ;) I think the bit on pages 154-155 is all that has been written about Vudra so far. I mostly worked from the Vudrani entry in the ethnicity section.

Oh, gotcha! Can you tell I usually start at 1st level? ;) IIRC, the allowance for 6th level was 16,000, but that sounded like an awful lot. It just doesn't sound right for it to be so much. Quote: For your character, it really depends on what kind of relationship you had with your master. As part of the story arc to get you into the start of the game, I was thinking on having your master come upon some financially desperate times and forced to sell you to another. We can hash out the details on that soon. If your former master was a cruel master, then he probably wouldn't have given you much of anything, but we may have him killed in an ambush or a raid, and you can claim his gear as your own (conveniently, it'll match your "wish list"), but still feel duty-bound to make your way to where your new master waits. If your master was a kind master, then he may have given you what he thinks you need and have earned (which will also conveniently match your "wish list"). That makes a lot more sense than what I was thinking of! I like the idea of him keeping protective items and still winding up getting killed when his underequipped bodyguard can't protect him. :) Spoiler:
I was thinking of him as cruel, or at least just completely uncaring. The only trouble I could see for Naveen is that if the transaction of her ownership hasn't already taken place, her current master would have to tell her something like, "You're going with me all the way to (whatever our destination is) and you're going to (whoever is buying her) and making up for the losses you've caused me!"
That way, she would carry his body and all of his belongings to their destination and offer herself in exchange for whatever she was being sold for, with whatever it was going to her old master's family or associates. She wouldn't dare take her old master's equipment for herself without being told to do so(she doesn't see herself as worthy of just taking something that hasn't been given to her by her betters), but if she was ordered by her new master to not let them go to waste, she'll take them with no complaints! I'll have the "wishlist" and appearance written up by this afternoon! (I have to get my book AND double check that wealth allowance!) p.s. I just noticed the bit about regional feats and how you wanted us to be from the Inner Sea region. Did you want me to relocate my birthplace to Jalmeray(Vudra's colony in the area) and use the feat for that country? I don't think Vudra itself has any feats.
Stats are ready, but I have some quick questions about equipment: Spoiler: Would the two mementos from the back story need to come from character wealth?
And since she's a slave, she probably shouldn't have wealth normally, right? Would it be alright to say that what gear she has was handed to her for the duration of her duty, in order to increase her effectiveness? I was going to say that she had only the clothes on her back and the two keepsakes from the old sage, and was equipped with a belt of physical perfection owned by her current master, but I wanted to be sure that was alright. The belt costs the entirety of a level 6 character's level wealth though, and it wouldn't do for Neevan to go around unclothed, so I should probably look at the belt that only boosts two physical stats instead of all three. I should probably just focus on items to boost her AC instead though. It's pretty low. |
