Rallying Cry (Su): At 1st level, an arcane duelist can use performance to rally dispirited allies. Each round he makes an Intimidate check. Any ally (including the bard) within 30 feet may use this check in place of his own saving throw against fear and despair effects. Those already under a fear or despair effect can attempt a new save each round using the bard’s Intimidate check. Rallying cry does not work on effects that don’t allow saves. This is a mind-affecting ability that uses audible components.

Bladethirst (Su): An arcane duelist of 6th level or higher may use performance to grant one weapon, one natural weapon, one end of a double weapon, or 50 items of ammunition of the same type within 30 feet a +1 enhancement bonus. This enhancement bonus increases by +1 for every three levels after 6th (maximum +5 at 18th level). These bonuses stack with existing bonuses and may be used to increase the item’s enhancement bonus up to +5 or to add any of the following weapon properties: defending, distance, ghost touch, keen, mighty cleaving, returning, shock, shocking burst, seeking, speed, or wounding. If the weapon is not magical, at least a +1 enhancement bonus must be added before adding special abilities.

History:

As the tale goes, Nearchos was found beside a stream by a humble family. As a boy he was approached by the gods and told that he was the son of a murdered King. He was trained and armed and then sought out to reclaim his kingdom. It is said that he gathered a hundred men and marched on the city of the new King. When he arrived he challenged each of their champions and defeated them one after another. Finally, the city was out of champions and the King came forth, only to die with the rest. But Nearchos' victory was short-lived. The gods had taught him to fight, but not to rule. Nearchos was forced into exile, leaving the throne to another.

No one seems to recall exactly what city Nearchos was a King of, nor why exactly he was forced into exile. But it is known that he travels the land now. While he is considered one of the most accomplished storytellers of his time, he rarely speaks of his own adventures and leaves those tales to others to embellish.

It is said that his shield is crafted from the scales of a massive serpent that once plagued the city of Iasus. That his breastplate was crafted by the famous smith Kalliokos. And that his spear was crafted by an ancient nymph from her own tree because of her love for him.

Description:
Nearchos stands tall and handsome. He has the scars of a warrior and the bearing of one used to leading others in battle. His breastplate seems to be of an ancient design and fails to shine even after the most thorough cleaning. His shield is crafted from the scales of what must have been a massive serpent. The entire haft of the spear he carries bears ornate carvings of woodland scenes.

While charismatic, Nearchos is simply incapable of diplomacy. Not to say that he isn't subtle or clever, as he can be. (Though not famous for either trait by a long shot.) But he seems unable, or perhaps unwilling, to back down when necessary.
