Naneko was always the greatest. Or show she felt anyways. Her parents could not be more proud of their child once she could comfortably wield a club designed for trained soldiers while she was only six years of age, and they carefully honed this potential while imparting on her the ways of their family traditions. Even when it turned out her vision was not the greatest, she marched onward. Honoring many generations of combat art and flair, and utilizing unique and important heavy armor, Naneko's training included many hours with traditional weapons that were often more sleek and specialized then the mass produced blades and bows given out to hapless adventurers.
However, nothing quite seemed to eclipse the feeling of a club in her hand, and she often looked for the biggest sticks with which to practice. Utilizing a style of combat heavily centered in balancing her small frame with the large weapon, she could maximize impact to shatter the thickest of trees, while barely having to recover from the swing. Unfortunately, while her home life was nice, her schooling life was not. Her school had many bullies, and was (although no one would admit it) a dog eat dog place. When she first became subjected to torments at the hands of local school bullies, she brought a large stick with her to quickly turn the tides.
Quickly settling into a role as a bit of a bully herself (even as her parents were oblivious to it all), it took her earning the ire of a particularly zealous student who was the former school bully of note. He eventually challenged her to a friendly combat, "no bloodshed of course" as it was, and the winner would have to do what the loser said, and would give up their place as top notch. So she accepted the challenge, certain her skills and deftly dodging blows and recovering from swinging her clubs would let her win this one.
Donning her best representation of her family's traditional armor (little more than practice gear, not the real deal for sure), and grabbing her largest club (still a regular club), she headed out to meet the bully who challenged her. When she arrived, he had shown up with three friends, each wielding an entirely real blade despite the claims of no lethality. Nonetheless, after banter was exchanged, she began fighting the trio, although she wasn't able to keep up with them for long, and succumbed to a blow on the back of her head.
When she finally awoke, she found herself in a small alleyway, a note attached to her tattered clothes and armor stating that as per the rules, they already fulfilled the conditions stated (namely, they had her do as they told her while she was unconscious). With an almost indescribable rage, she went home, told her parents about the whole ordeal, and managed to secure a rematch with the bully that'd be overseen by her father and the school's operator. This time, she came equipped with her best equipment, granted by her father, a shining Tetsubo, and some of the best Tatami-Do money could buy.
When she saw the boy across the way again, he showed up with his two friends once more. This time however, the fight was different. She deftly rid each of the two extras with a single bone shattering blow that certainly would leave each one in the hospital for years to come. While against the main boy, she smacked him hard enough that he looked ready to hit the floor at this point, but as he did so, his grasp on his sword slipped as he swung it, the awkward trajectory catching Naneko off guard and depriving her of her arms. Following the fight, all four were rushed to the hospital for all the injuries there of. The boy had died of his wounds, and the other two extras had major head fractures with barely a chance of living.
Naneko was to be kept for an almost endless amount of time, for while she was still alive, missing arms meant she couldn't do anything really anymore. Her family continued to visit her, and always talked to her about the things she did, and what they meant, among others. Eventually, she decided she'd change her ways, and take a more mellow approach to things. Focusing more on reading books, she retained her techniques in combat by studying books on the subject, honing her mind to aid her body next time, so she could avoid a second instance of her situation.
Eventually, it became clear that there was a chance she could recover her arms. Special grafts she'd be gifted would fix it all. She looked forwards to the meeting, hoping to earn the coveted items, so she could get back to doing what she loved, training with the biggest clubs, and wearing the best family armors while doing so.
