Master Torturer of the Guard, though he is without rank. Always cheerful and full of glee, Gilles gladly conducts and teaches torture and interrogation for the Guard. Ex-criminal and murderer, was deemed too valuable of an asset to be hanged for his crimes.

It isn't very much of a secret at Roland Guard headquarters that Gilles constantly dotes on Colonel Violette Emberborne. She is disgusted by him. Violette herself was the one to capture the Torturer, on a decision by council that he be made an asset for the country. Violette opposed the decision, and still refers to him as a "monster."
