“-No Alistair, the thief was stuck in the freezer and wanted firewhiskey, there isn’t a deeper meaning that you are missing here. It is but a tale, read not too much into it.” Bertrand appears annoyed as Seth approached, likely by some interaction with Alistair.

"They should, but I believe restricting what knowledge we have acquired in these past centuries is juvenile. Perhaps better training of the consequences of such magic. Classes for aspiring casters. But the spells, our practising of them, and our knowledge of them should stay." It seems neither of them want to back down their argument.

Bertrand is quick to respond to Asfal. "No one, literally no one at any point in time, has use for those spiders. Please stop mentioning the spiders. Please stop “summoning” spiders. I still feel itchy from the last time." Bertrand gives his arm a quick scratch, possibly for dramatic effect, possibly reliving the memory. "I have evocation magic mostly. A grand flame and the means to fuel it."

Group 3, All but Halcyon: Bertrand speaks up, putting his drink to the table. He smirks at Seth. “I’ve been told swordplay is no different than dancing. Can’t fumble your footwork in a swordfight can you?” He laughs, Beatrice giggling alongside him. “Times like this I wish I was a wizard. My bloodline offers me nothing to a dance or a party.”

Group 3, All but Marcus: Bertrand stops tending to a queasy Alistair. He enters back into the conversation. “I know you have the weapons already, but the School of Evocation or the Martial-Spell School at the society could give your mercenaries a more magical edge.” He gives his pleasantries to the de Beaux’s, shaking both Emile and Beatrice’s hand. “How many mountain brigands have fought against a trained Sorcerer or Magus afterall?” He pours a glass of water for Alistair, and searches for an ale among the wine for himself. Unsuccessful, he instead grabs a plate for dessert.

A man walks into the bar from the eastern entrance as Seth speaks to Bertrand (“I agree with you...”). Seth recognizes him from earlier at Captain of the Roland Helmuth von Moltke IV. He goes to the counter, and asks for a drink. While the bartender looks hesitant to serve such a young looking man, a show of the badge changes the bartender’s opinion. The drink is something simple. Bertrand seems to be unaware of Helmuth’s entrance, but Helmuth seems keen on the conversation. Bertrand puts his glass down. “I am sure the families of those whom he trained his craft on would disagree. And if this sociopath snaps again, what then? ”

“It was Gilles I believe,” Bertrand states, taking a sip of wine. “Hear is to hoping the monster is put to where he belongs. Can you imagine if the Guard keeps hiring men for all their heinous crimes? We could have a necromancer, whoever was responsible for the Crater and a serial killer all sworn to protect us. Makes you feel safe, don’t it?”

Bertrand Travere. He is an activist trying to repeal the regulation of magic, and repeal the ban on certain school and spells. While making the argument to repeal Necromancy would be social suicide, he skips around that issue when making his arguments. Elitist, believes the magically inclined are superior. “I think the discussion should be open to more than just the headmasters,” the human starts, “The regulation is a mere overreaction to the Crater. If future generations lose these spells, they may be lost forever.” |
