Gonna be moving tomorrow, and I'll have some issues getting online for four or five days. Until then, see ya!

And a very happy New Year :)

Unrelated question - can someone tell me what the little symbols next to some of our names are? I don't remember them from before...

Hey folks! After a far too long break (sorry about that! I really did need it though, and things are looking good over here.), I hope to get back into the swing of posting. I'll be levelling Talacyst first, and will hopefully post within a day or two. Catch you all soon!

Experiencing scheduling issues and problems associated with relationships. Posting may be sporadic until I get things straightened out. Sorry to put you guys all through this... :(

Hmm, I just wrote a post for the game thread, but it looks like it might have been eaten... In the event that it doesn't pop up again I'll retype it. I had written that I thank Ameiko for her kindness, adding that knowing that she and other townspeople would be safe from the goblins made his discomfort worthwhile, and then head off after Blackleaf to make sure there's no trouble.

Cry Havoc!

Great to hear that you're doing well over there. Thanks for popping in and saying 'Hi,' and I'm looking forward to following the progress of your game!

Wow, major apologies all around for disappearing for a week there. I ended up going to a week long government simulation in central Virginia, and after several last-minute scheduling changes and misunderstandings I ended up having to run out the door before I could post and explain where I'd be.

Sorry if I've caused concern! And now, to the game thread!

Sorry to hear that, Stunty. Hope you can keep up your work and still have fun!

And to answer your question, Zoom, I'm not going to Gen Con... I definitely wish I was though.

On an unrelated note, has anyone else been having trouble accessing the Paizo site recently? I'm wondering if it's my browser...

Hey, all.

In case you didn't catch it, I'm still in school, and tests are coming up. The Internet is far too good at entertaining and distracting me, so I'm going to attempt to stay as far away from it as I can for about two weeks.

Sorry if this poses problems. I'm hoping that I'll be able to pop on and post (over the weekends, most likely), but I will be pretty scarce until then.

I posted a little summary of what I'll try to do in the combat over on the IC thread. And Blackleaf, I do sincerely hope that I didn't mess things up for you. :P

So long for now, and happy gaming!

On a related note, does anybody know why some of the avatars (like Etienne's) now have that white border around them? Just something I've noticed...

Heh, I was just rolling with it. It might be interesting to come in from two sides and perhaps catch them by surprise, and we have a large enough party to probably make it work...

I'm really enjoying getting back into the game, everyone. Great job, all around!

For a heads up, I'm probably not going to be able to post until Sunday the 13th - I'm going out of town. If I'm lucky, I might be able to post on the 9th, but I wouldn't count on it.

I'll second that, Seeker - you've got a nice background, Lazaro.

And I'm also optimistic about this group, and with running with a larger group. I've always favored having groups more on the large size, so I'm eagerly awaiting the continuation of the game.

Wow. I had seriously forgotten how fast these games move along. Sorry I haven't bothered to check over the weekend, but I'm here now! Expect more posts from me in the times to come. As ZE said, I'm playing Talacyst the elven transmuter.

Stunty, favored souls have a d8 hit die, and the rest of their information is in Complete Divine (page 6). I couldn't find info on their maximum starting gold, but 200 sounds about right to me.

As for sources, the original group did Core with a few exceptions... can't speak for what ZE has in mind tho.

Yep, I'm sticking around. Can you post a link to the ad you put up?

Ah, rotten luck - two in quick succession.

...
Well, what's the plan now?

Sorry to hear that, DF. I really enjoyed playing with you (and Gloam).

And I'm with you, Zoomacklaus - my other PbP game just died because two of the players just stopped posting... So thanks for saying you'll be gone. Hope you can get a balance going soon!

Saw an article just a bit ago...

That bites.

He's left a legacy, though. That's for sure.

Wow. A KOBOLD has 27 hit points?

I feel traumatized. What happened to the days where you could kill a kobold in one swing? I mean, really, even though some kobolds do have levels now, it's still okay to give people that feeling of killing normal kobolds every so often.

Yeah, that's the first thing I noticed too. But I guess if the heroic PCs are really going to be throwing around a lot of dice, what with their extra abilities and special attacks, it won't matter as much.

RL is always messing up my plans to post.

Hee hee... I like that one. Good to see we all have our priorities straight, eh?

Not sure if it's because of my browser or what, but I'm having trouble reading the little labels on the goblins (as in, their numbers). Not a big problem, but it slows me down a bit :).

Ha ha! Back to the gaming!

Is anybody else hoping that CH will just pop back right when we're about to move on, like last time?

Still hoping...

I think now would be a good time for me to state my preference for the game when Cry Havoc! returns. We are all together and playing together because Cry Havoc! created this game. My opinion is that the game is still his. If he can pick up as DM at a later date then that would be fine with me. He is also one heck of a DM.

Shoot, I've failed to check recently. Well, if we're still discussing, ManPig pretty much sums up my views. I'd like to keep going, without CH! if he doesn't show, but if he does I'd be for giving him the reigns again.

Sorry for the delay!

Heh. Did anyone else notice that they didn't bleep out the Tiefling sayhing she would be a "kick-ass warlock," but they did censor her when she went "No sh!t" at the gnome?

Of my current two groups, neither would even be aware of the upcoming edition if I hadn't told them. They have no idea about the PR. It makes me curious about what the population of gamers out there is that are following this.

Same here, man. Of my two groups, I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who is even somewhat following developments.

Just from what I know about the players, I get the feeling that the younger of the groups would absolutely jump on 4E. Most of their characters already are aimed towards badass-ness and combat efficiency, with min-maxing and class-related/ability boosting items only. And I'm pretty sure that they would be all for simplified, streamlined combat and magic items systems that 4E seems to be geared towards.

If they're the target audience WotC is going for, I think they'll have them.

I'm most likely not going to buy them. I'm thinking I'll obtain (*whistles*) the 4E core books. On the offchance that it's actually (much) better than what I've seen, I'll probably pick up the core and call it good.

Still checking...

Not much, currently; since I moved, I have only been PbP'ing and playing D&D with webcams with my old group. So, I have all my stuff in my room plus the laptop at my disposal. Works for me, except I have to supply my own drinks and food.

When I was going to sit-down sessions, I'd bring PHB, DMG, MM, Dragon Compendium, PHBII, my folder of character sheets, some issues of Dragon I could use, my sack of dice and minis, my Crit-Hit Deck, and some Green Ronin/Third Party supplements.

If I was DMing, I'd bring all that plus a binder of notes, maps, and the adventure (usually from Dungeon back-issues).

I only recently got my laptop, so if I were to go to a session nowadays I would bring it, and all the gaming goodness it has on it. (I have most of the books on it, as well as as much free adventure/supplement downloads I can get my hands on.)

Well, it's pretty nasty (as in unpleasant) looking, if that's an indication. :)

For the heads up, I'm going to be going skiing between this Wednesday (two days from now) to Sunday (six days from now). I don't know if I'll have internet access, so don't expect me to post.

If you need my actions for the next round, I'm going to cast Animate Rope on the whip, then move forward a ways (keeping away from our front).

I feel kinda bad just adding to the list, but I'd really like a copy!

Thanks!

I'm with you, Radavel. Damage is no good for Talacyst. :)
Grr, I thought I might want to save the Enlarge Person. Well, too late now.

Although Mr. Jason has not posted yet, my sincere hope is that he also wants to continue.

Wak! Last to post again... grr.

Welcome back, CH! We've missed you!

And, good luck health-wise. My dad has a similar condition, and I know it can be rough for everyone involved. We're thinking of you.

And, yes! I would be thrilled to keep up the PbP'ing with you at the helm!

And now, to the IC Thread!

Sounds good to me! I'm ready to roll.

I'm with DitheringFool here. I would like to wait up for CH, but it really has been a while... I think that I would prefer getting rolling again, so long as we're in agreement.

What usually happens when the DM goes missing? I'm also wondering what would happen when he returned. Would he simply take over from there, or what?

Heh, about the same as ManPig, actually. Browsing other threads, and keeping up with some of the other PbP's I've been following. (I am trying to avoid too much RotRL content, so let me say good luck to you too, Radavel!)

I'm still checking these threads every day or so, and I'm still hoping it'll all pick up again!

Oh, and good luck with your campaign ;)
I'll be watching from the sidelines...

Sounds good to me - I think keeping our options open would be good. I'm also really, really liking how things are going so far, so I hope CH turns up.

I'd have to say that (to me) this seems to be a nice idea, presented in a not-so-nice way. (Funnily enough, this seems to be a theme among a lot of the recent 4E details coming out.)

I do think that having a quick reference of the facts would be useful - it could contain who gave the party their information, some basic leads, and the general goals of the adventure. Having all that for easy reference would make things easier while the party is gathering information, keeping track of sub-goals/etc.

But at the same time it really does feel very video game-like. Folks have referred to the cards higher up in the thread as a "contract," which is what it seems like to me. The party does [insert task here] and they will receive a defined amount of experience and treasure. What especially bothers me is that it seems the players would immediately be told exactly what they'll get as a reward, down to the last experience point. And including experience points might tip off players to an adventure that will get more complicated (and so longer and harder). Seems too meta-gamey to me.

It doesn't help that this the cards sound like they'll use the format for WoW quests - what you need to do to complete the quest, who you need to report back to, and what you'll get afterwards.

Really? That sounds really interesting. Just goes to show you that people on the boards can really be connected to each other... Six Degrees of Seperation, I suppose.

We miss you, CH!

I'll put in my two-cents regarding what a paladin can/cant do. I'd agree that there's nothing wrong with taking evil folks' stuff, as it probably wasn't theirs to begin with. As for an ambush or other trickery... I think that would be acceptable if that was what it takes to defeat the creatures (especially if it means saving lives, such as by stopping them before they can attack a settlement).

And I think Caerival would be the best choice for a leader in the forests - wouldn't have it any other way!

Am I the only one who's having trouble getting onto Paizo recently? A few days ago it wouldn't load at all, and it took me a few tries to get it today...

Well, I think I'm holding fairly steady on my end (I am checking regularly), but it does seem that it's more quiet than usual...

By the way, I'm hoping that if we take the whip I'll be able to borrow it for Animate Rope - it seems that I forgot to buy some rope when I made the character.

Oh, no problem. I'm enjoying it all just as much as you guys are!

Hey, all. Just thought I'd put out a little tip for those of you looking for some nice, *free* RPG content (Oh wait, that's all of you. :D). In any case, RPGNow.com is running a great big Thanksgiving giveaway. They're giving away free downloads of a whole lot of products. The products they're giving away change daily, and the Giveaway lasts from Monday - Friday. I'm all excited!

Sorry if this has already been brought up by someone else somewhere else, but as it is I haven't seen it.

Well done, every PC gets 60 xp for defeating those three goblins.

Hopefully, you all enjoyed your first combat! :)

You betcha! Let's keep the good stuff coming!

Regarding my Spot check, I'm fairly sure now that I need to take a standard action to do that (like Caerival did). Oh well, just ignore it in that case.

Phew...managing a combat like this is harder than you'd think! And I thought it was hard enough in sit-down sessions...

Ah, I didn't notice Rel was the first to act there. Sorry, Rel! I think we should just stick with the way it's written and move on, though.
Hope that's not a problem.
