About Mmph
This woman of pale, nearly ashen skin, with white eyes and white, unkempt hair, walks with a jerky gait, giving the overall impression of a zombie or some other kind of mindless undead. Although she is actually elven, she is hardly bothered by the distinction.
Having grown up among the mountains of Ustalav, without family and with roving bands of undead as the closest models for behavior available to her, she only learned the ways of more civilized folk (including some of their languages) in her teens, after a troop of knights of Lastwall picked her up while on patrol. Even though they gave her a name they felt fit her ancestry ("Alana"), she prefers to use the name she imagined for herself as a child, mimicking the gargling sounds of the undead surrounding her. Her abrupt movements are likewise a matter of preference (though by now so ingrained that actual grace would take some conscious effort), and she can be agile if she needs to be.
Mmph has gotten used to the amenities of civilization (particularly the astounding variety of food and drink), but still feels just as, if not more, at home in the wilds. Due to the experiences of her formative years, she still feels uncomfortable in large crowds and thus is often pleased rather than bothered by the wide berth many folk give her due to her appearance.
