That's a good idea and one I've been considering but didn't know how practical it was and if I'd have paper chaos flying everywhere. Good to see someone is doing it. Thank you!
Greeting all and please excuse my question if it's redundant. I'm a pretty new GM and am interested in running the Emerald Spire mega dungeon using the flip mats, I currently do not own any flip mats by the way. But the problem I have with using flip mats (and correct me if I'm wrong) is that it exposes the entire area/dungeon to the players. Area's that they don't necessarily know about yet. To me it seems like it would take away the experience of discovery and it almost encourages the players to meta-game. I think that they are beautifully made and would love to use them, but the sense of discovery for the players is more important to me as a story teller. I would like to hear other's views on keeping that sense of discovery while using dungeon flip mats. Thanks!
I too am working on a similar campaign accept in my scenario it's the naive 1ts level PC's that unintentionally release an imprisoned Lich that seek vengeance onto the world by casting into chaos and hordes or undead. It's up to the PC's to undo what they released, but of course they won't be able to do it till their around 15th level or so. In my vision the world slowly turns from normal to survival horror. Kind of a zombie apocalypse accept with all sorts of undead, famine and pestilence. Some good ideas there Eileen and Sissyl.
I came across this as far as building all kinds of maps for landscapes, continents, cities, towns and dungeons...
I'm a total newbie to Pathfinder, but a long time loyal fan of AD&D. Stopped playing for many years and just getting back into it in the last few months. It's been a steep learning curve, especially sense I've been gearing myself up to run a campaign, a lot of catching up, reading and trying to wrap my head around the system. Don't have a lot of time between work and raising a two year old. But I'd have to say... I love pathfinder!!! Haven’t even played a real game yet! I'm buying everything I can afford, which is basically the core rule book, some modules, and a Pathfinder subscription. Next is to find a local group to get my feet wet. Anybody in Orange County CA? There's probably a different post for that but I thought I'd just throw it out there anyway while I was here. Yes, I like Pathfinder. I think one of the things that did it for me was in the intro of the core rule book it was dedicated to Gary Gygax. Like I said... loyal AD&D fan. |
