Special Abilities
--------------------
Adaptable Luck: Some halflings have greater control over their innate luck. This ability gives them more options for how they can apply their good fortune from day to day, but also narrows its scope. Three times per day, a halfling can gain a +2 luck bonus on an ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check. If halflings choose to use the ability before they make the roll or check, they gain the full +2 bonus; if they choose to do so afterward, they only gain a +1 bonus. Using adaptive luck in this way is not an action. This racial trait replaces halfling luck.

Fleet of Foot: Some halflings are quicker than their kin but less cautious. Halflings with this racial trait move at normal speed and have a base speed of 30 feet. This racial trait replaces slow speed and sure-footed.

Fearless: Halflings receive a +2 racial bonus on all saving throws against fear. This bonus stacks with the bonus granted by halfling luck.

Keen Senses: Halflings receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.

Background
---------------------
Some halflings are born free, but their wanderings lead them to be captured and sold into a life of slavery. Some halflings are lucky enough to be born free and stay as such for their entire lives. And then there are the halflings who have never known anything but toil and the lash of their masters, born into a life where their lives are meaningless.

Such is Misty's lot in life.

Born on a plantation in the nation of Galt, Misty's childhood was as unpleasant as one can imagine under such circumstances. As soon as she was old enough to walk, she was put to work picking grapes on the plantation with several other halfling slaves. For some reason or other, the grapes she picked tended to be of higher quality than the others--while she originally believed that this was because of her own skills, quite a few of the other slaves whispered (in jealous tones) that she was especially blessed with the trademark luck of the halflings. She didn't believe them, to put it bluntly--as she's fond of saying, "If Fortune truly favoured me, I wouldn't have been born here."

Her contemptuous attitude towards those who held her leash soon resulted in her being moved off of grape picking duty to becoming one of the slaves who pushes carts filled with grapes everywhere. It was intended as a punishment, but she refused to break, instead nurturing a private desire to see the plantation burn. The long hours of pushing carts honed her body and her days of picking grapes have honed her senses. One day, she has promised herself, she will escape the plantation and burn it to the ground behind her...

Description & Personality
---------------------
Before you stands a halfling girl clad in brown, worn padded clothing, glaring up at you with large brown eyes. Her brown hair is bunched up into a pair of pigtails hanging high off the sides of her head. Her eyes occasionally glance from side to side, as if searching for something. Her arms and legs are surprisingly fit and muscular for a halfling.

Uneducated and unrefined, Misty is, contrary to the stereotype of cheerful halflings, a dour, quiet girl. When she chooses to speak, she has a rough, brutally honest way of speaking that frequently gets her into trouble. She reserves the worst of her barbs for humans--considering the slavery at their hands she's had to endure to grow to adulthood, it's not difficult to see why.
---------------------
Traits & Drawback
---------------------
(Faith) Fate's Favoured: Misty's survival up until this point has been in equal parts due to her natural tenacity and a seemingly supernatural streak of luck. Whenever she is under the effect of a luck bonus, the bonus is increased by +1.

(Social) Life of Toil: The life of a halfling slave is a hard one, and Misty is no exception, especially in a nation as chaotic and dangerous as Galt. Long hours working in the grape fields have hardened her body and mind against fatigue and disease. Misty gains a +1 trait bonus to Fortitude saves.
