Saturday's Shadow HP 24/24, AC 10, Fort +1, Ref +2, Will +1, Init +2 Appearance

A gold coin rolled out from under the car Saturday was hiding behind, winding across the uneven ground to fall face down in front of one of the ghoul-like men.

Readied action. When Monster 3 gets within 30 feet of Saturday it has to save against a Misfortune Hex (DC 15 will save).

Yes, where I am is fine. Thank you.

Saturday's Shadow HP 24/24, AC 10, Fort +1, Ref +2, Will +1, Init +2 Appearance

Oh, I apologize. I took my turn (ducking down behind cover) and I was waiting for the next round to post again. I had no idea the game was waiting on me.

We seem to be delayed. What's going on folks? The map is up. Anyone who goes before the bad guys can act, right?

DM, can you put the map link in the Class/Levels space of your GM alias? That way the link will always be available in your posts.

GM:

Casting Mage Armor and going defensive as a move action.

GM:

Saturday unsummons his Eidolon as a standard action.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have been spotted and are about to come under fire. Take cover. Saturday says calmly, ducking behind an abandoned car.

Saturday's Shadow HP 24/24, AC 10, Fort +1, Ref +2, Will +1, Init +2 Appearance

GM:

Saturday's Shadow is going to scout. As they approach the city Saturday is going to surreptitiously manifest his shadow and cast Unfetter to send it off ahead. For the next ten minutes it will not have to stay close to him. It will be 110 feet ahead of the party.

Slight of Hand to disguise summoning/casting: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Saturday's Shadow has a +13 stealth bonus and a +4 Perception bonus. The cantrip Message is going to allow it to communicate with Saturday over the distance and tell him what is coming.

Ill let you handle the rolls you think are necessary to see if the Shadow is spotted, or if anyone notices what Saturday is doing.

Sorry about the delay. Weekends are sometimes very busy for me.

Sandman pulled his pale top hat down over his eyes as they went outside into the glare. He winced a little and looked down at his shadow.

"You ah no help either."

When the bear-wrangler asked about the group's fighting prowess, Saturday shrugged.

"I am more of a lovah den a fightah. If push comes to shove, I will just try to stay out of everyone's way."

"What is a platypus?" Saturday asks with a raised eyebrow.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Saturday had only nodded and grunted when he'd been addressed. He didn't seem to be a morning person.

He'd come down stairs with three young ladies who he'd walked to the door and said goodbye to before joining the others. Clearly he'd had a night to remember.

In the light of day his fancy clothes seemed a bit more tattered and his scars looked a bit less exotic and more like he'd been through hell.

Gone was the consummate carouser. In his place was a somber, introspective man who quietly ate his breakfast while shuffling an odd, old deck of cards with one hand.

He flipped three cards out in front of him in quick succession.

Death.

The nine of swords.

The fool.

He rolled his eyes and swept them up.

"You are no help at all." He muttered to the deck.

Sorry for the absence the last two days. There has been something of an upheaval at work and I suddenly find myself doing my usual job and trying to learn a new one at the same time.

Ready to go.

Saturday's Shadow HP 24/24, AC 10, Fort +1, Ref +2, Will +1, Init +2 Appearance

Saturday, knowing tonight might be his last night in a place with a surplus of attractive company and attractive alcohol, spent the night making new friends. Some of them very good friends...

Saturday gave a jaunty salute, holding his coin to his brow. "Tomorrow it is, den."

Listening to the demolitionist speak he simply nodded. "I will be sure to keep out of your way."

Group initiative is by far the best option for PbP games. Characters post in whatever order they can, then the enemies go.

The only time this gets sticky is in round 1, which is divided into "before enemies" and "after enemies."

After the "before enemies" group goes in round one, the enemies go, and then it just becomes back and forth by group.

"I have not been to Nashville in a very long time." The tall dark-skinned man with the thick accent said, still smiling. "It think it is past time I return."

DM, it looks like you haven't edited the Current Players in the Campaign Info tab. If you click the edit button, you can mark everyone who didn't make it into the game as not active, and this game won't keep updating in their campaigns tab.

google maps, definitely.

Also, a neat trick with post apocalyptic games- You can use Google Earth and Google Street View to give us a really good idea of what the surroundings look like in most places. You can take the basic existing surroundings and say "that Circle K is a partially caved in husk that looks pretty unstable. Those cars on the street have long since been looted, rusted or caught fire."

You can even find areas that already look post apocalyptic and link them as here's where you guys are. Then we can get a full 360 panorama of how bad things are.

There are plenty of places that already look pretty apocalyptic. Take a Google tour of Detroit. It's scary.

Saturday, looked over his shoulder from the coin he was spinning on the counter. He slapped it down and it was gone when he picked up his hand. He turned his bar stool around with a smile and listened.

Perhaps dis is it…

Things seemed to have mellowed out again. Saturday nodded to himself and finished off his bottle, sighing contentedly.

Something was supposed to happen here. Some of these people were important. He just didn't know which ones yet.

Ah well, if one has to wait, der ah worse ways to do it. he mused. I had nearly forgotten how much fun dis side was.

Definitely close. He doesn't actually paint himself. He's just scarred.

Saturday smiled. Sometimes all it takes is da smallest nudge and everyt'ing falls into place…

As parties sometimes did, things had taken a turn for the sour. The fellow with the thorny face sucked the fun out of the room like a particularly talented hooker. Saturday wanted nothing to do with him. He wasn't in the mood for a confrontation or ferreting out the layers of the fellows lies. One had already come undone. That was enough to indicate there would be others.

Perhaps it was time to pursue other entertainments then.

Saturday looked around for a juke box or something similar.

"Miss Harumi, we need ah better quality of noise."

Saturday had melted back into the crowd, happy that once he'd gotten people talking and gambling the rest had happened naturally. This was his sort of crowd. He watched and drank and laughed. People were always so interesting to him, and in the wake of the end of civilization had really only gotten more so.

As a note about gambling- I don't think gold is the standard coinage. The GM mentioned that old piece values were used as a loose mechanical place marker, but actually the world works on a barter system. The fact that Saturday has actual gold coins is pretty weird.

"Your wagah sets mine, pretty kitty cat." Saturday said with a smirk, the gold coin dancing across his hand. "What do you bring to tha table to say yo' skill ees bettah than his?"

He seemed momentarily surprised at the features of this woman before him, but pleasantly so. Saturday was not the sort to be easily shocked, nor did he seem to be the kind to harbor prejudice.

The man called Saturday sat next to the desperado Durran. They'd come into town together, though it could hardly be said that they knew each other well. Neither really seemed the sort to ask or answer, so they were practically perfect company.

They were night and day, really. Where the trenchcoated Durran was the muted color of road dust from head to toe, Saturday was a study in contrasts.

He was dark of skin and wore white clothes that were once fine, but now showed the signs of wear. He looked like he was dressed for a night at the opera from his white leather shoes to his white top hat. They probably wouldn't let him in though, being as he'd decided to forego wearing a shirt beneath his coat.

He had been sitting and enjoying watching the crowd for some time now, alternating between drinking, laughing and rolling a golden coin across his knuckles with practiced and unconscious skill. By now he was nearly finished with a bottle of red wine that he'd paid for with a gold tooth. He laughed and slapped the table at Durran's impressive toss.

"A fine t'row, mah friend." he said in a thick accent that placed him from somewhere in the islands off of what used to be Florida.

He took another swig of his wine straight from the bottle, and slipped off his stool to walk into the crowd. He gave the pretty barmaid an appraising look, completely unabashed in his attraction and impulsively swept her up into a quick waltzing turn before releasing her back on her way with a wink.

His face was handsome. Quite so, really, but there was something odd about it. His face was covered in swirling delicate ridges. Light scars that gave the impression that his skin had been rumpled and then smoothed out again.

He flipped his coin in the air, the gold catching the light and everyone's attention.

"Would anyone ca' to place ah wagah dat dey can beat mah friend here in a contest of skeel? Best out of t'ree t'rows! Any takahs?"

As a note on Saturday's appearance, the linked picture is pretty much spot on, but he does not have a skull painted on his face. Instead he has cursive writing in the same shape, made out of scars.

Checking in again. Saturday is ready to go. I'm enjoying this concept even more than I thought I would. :)

I changed his avatar away from the skull face because it isn't always manifested. Most of the time he looks like a fairly normal fellow.

Unfortunately Paizo doesn't have any avatar images of lanky black men in john lennon glasses and top hats. They should really do something about that.

Sometimes you just get an idea that drags you along behind it like a freight train...

You said you only are accepting one Arcane caster, so I decided to go with two arcane classes. Witch and Summoner.

I think I have all the mechanics in order. I'll PM you a backstory and more details as soon as I can crank it out.
