Appearance:
Size: Medium, 5'7", 143 lbs Type: Human Price is forgettable. She is a relatively pleasant looking brunette with medium length hair, most often held back in a loose braid or a working woman's bun. She is almost always wearing the plain muslin dress of a middle class woman - possibly a shop owner. Her clothes are usually in shades of green or brown, nothing flamboyant. As she is a skilled seamstress, Price's dresses are always impeccably tailored to her figure and have little hand-crafted flourishes at the hem, buttons, and sleeves. More often than not, she has a small pincushion corsage on her wrist and her latest sewing project in hand. Personality:
Price is a generally hospitable, friendly, and genuinely well-intentioned woman. However, that is also part of her cover. When that attitude comes into conflict with her mission - the mission always wins. Then Price's 'Suzy Homemaker' image is discarded and she becomes committed, forceful, and (when necessary) utterly ruthless. She adheres to her own set of rules. (Align: LN) At heart, Naomi is a mission-focused pragmatist. She plays no favorites. So, she will work with Lady Lotheed to further what she feels are Abadar's aim. But if she determines at a later date that Lotheed is part of the problem, she won't hesitate to 'prune' that particular branch. Background:
From solid merchant stock, the Price family had managed to finagle their way onto the lowest rung of Taldane nobility by the grace of Abadar… and by buying the patronage of key nobles fallen on hard times. The family learned the hard way that climbing the social ladder any further took far more than just wealth. For multiple generations, the Prices plotted and schemed to get to the next social rungs that would allow them to find their place in Oppara – the center of their world. It never happened.
When Naomi was born, the Prices were still a minor noble house of no name, VERY far from the glitter of Oppara. Unlike her family, who plotted, fretted, and wrung their hands at their decades long inability to improve their status – Naomi simply didn’t care. They had money and security, more of both than 95% of the people around them. She found it pathetic that her family dared to whine about their luck. Rather than waste time nursing grievances and trying to beat a rigged game, Naomi went back to the touchstones that made her family successful – mercantilism and Abadar. She learned the family business (Profession: Seamstress, Craft: Clothing) and took her skills on the road. She thought she understood the inequities in the world, but only by living and working among the lower classes, did she truly learn how much corruption had seeped into the system over the centuries. How exploitative and unfair it all was. She turned to Abadar. As one of the principal Taldane gods, did he not see what was happening? Was this the plan? Was this the fate of civilization? She put down her sewing needles for awhile to seek the answers from Abadar’s servants. (Class: Inquisitor) Abadar had a large portfolio – from cities, to mercantilism, to wealth, to law. But what underlay it all, the core of Abadar’s responsibility was building – and presumably maintaining – civilization. To ensure any culture continued to thrive, corruption had to be rooted out and inequities had to be righted. (Young Reformer) Naomi came to believe that civilizations were like trees, sometimes you had to prune a diseased limb to save the tree. (Archetype: Sanctified Slayer) And with her refined upbringing, she could move comfortably among the elite (Archetype: Infiltrator) where the corruption laid and needed to be addressed. So, when Princess Eutropia showed the ability and will to shake the withered branches of the Taldane tree, to challenge old and inequitable laws… Naomi saw the opportunity to prune many problematic limbs. Lady Lotheed coordinating and funding the effort was merely icing on the cake. Advancement Plans:

BOT ME:
HELLO DM!:
Hi! Since I’ve played in a good number of games, I thought it might be helpful if I curate the list a bit and give you some idea of who I am as a player. I’m an old school gamer and I DM more than I play… so I’m not a special snowflake and neither are my characters. I expect they will get beat up, make mistakes, play the fool, and the whole range of human experiences. I’m good with all of that. I’ve also played all sorts of different classes, alignment, and races over the years so now I tend to play characters who defy the usual tropes a bit to keep the experience fresh and fun. Here are a couple examples of a ‘not-so-goodie-two-shoes’ Paladin I had a blast playing (with DM approval, of course). Udaya’s Creative Interrogation
Here is a sample of how I’ve played an evil version of Miss Price (Inquisitor of Asmodeus in a Way of the Wicked Campaign): Start here and read down thru 2-3 Price posts to see her put Blistering Invective to good use
Here are more recent samples of my writing, relating to my 2nd level character’s knock-down-drag-out one-v-one battle with a bugbear, and then her recounting the battle at a Varisian campfire, days later: Reiko (after the battle)
I’m a writer and I’ve run a couple campaigns and a few short-sessions on the boards. I think these speak to the general quality and style of my writing – whether I’m playing or DMing. Great Southern Islands
I try to match my posting rate to match the team’s rate so no one gets drowned out. But, I prefer to post frequently and I post multiple times per day especially if there is an interesting RP happening or a battle going on. I’m not a diva player and I don’t care about the spotlight. If we’re all having fun and I can help someone else shine, I’m good. Also, since I understand the effort it takes to GM, I provide links (to spells and such) and as much info as I can as a player to make the GM’s job a bit easier. I appreciate it when my players do it for me, so I try to pay that favor forward. OH, and I never ‘armchair quarterback’ another GM. |
