Mircea grew up in a minor noble family in Ulstad which had ties of friendship with the man the queen of Orensden married. His family ensured a proper gentleman's education. He was taught his letters and numbers. He was taught to speak the language of his people's greatest neighbor, Orensden. As a younger son, he was not expected to inherit lands or titles. It was assumed that he would go into the church or the diplomatic corps. Upon his majority, his father sent for him. Mircea was told that an old friend of his father was in need of a loyal man to serve as courtier. Since rumors in the capital were beginning to mount about his rakish behaviour with the daughters, and wives, of various lords and nobles it would be best that he remove himself for the foreseeable future. He was sent to Orensden ensure at least one friendly face and trustworthy soul is available to the king. Upon arriving he began the difficult task of ingratiating himself to the various members of the court while keeping king's safety and welfare paramount. The king has now summoned him and conveyed rumors of a cure for the "daughters curse". Should they be true, the king must have it. To this goal Mircea has been sent to the festival to validate the rumors and, if true, secure the cure.
