Background:
Mingledash has a long history of racism towards the larger creatures in the world. It’s not a violent hatred, more a mischievous one, but a hatred none the less. It likely stemmed from a history of many of his people being stepped on by giant folk. He’s wary of human-sized folk, but he doesn’t have the same hatred. Much of how his racism developed comes down to one fact. When a member of his race is crushed there is seldom more than a, “Whoops” from the one who did the crushing. The life ended being disregarded so easily is the sore point for Mingledash. His response is to do everything he can to humiliate the larger creatures.
Mingledash has spent much of his life training to be the most prolific pest he can be. He has worked hard to learn the best ways to trip up, steal, and overall hinder someone’s ability to focus or fight back. His goal is to always make sure that someone as small like him is so frustrating that all his enemy can do is focus on him. This is, of course, dangerous, but he has certainly embraced the fearlessness of his race.
He doesn’t exclusively focus on the giant folk. After all, many adventuring groups are heading to other lands that don’t have large things, and a halfings’ gotta eat! His talents are often respected among adventuring groups simply because he becomes such the infuriating target that the enemy seldom has any mental capacity left over for the rest of the group making the dispatching all the easier for them without any of the risk. This whole method of working is going to get Mingledash killed one day, but sometimes hatred goes deep enough that you ignore the risks associated with what you do to the target of your hate.
Personality and Outlook:
Mingledash is angry. A lot. You won't see him fly into a screaming rage, but if one of his buttons gets pushed it becomes quite clear that he's fuming. His anger doesn't make him hard to get along with necessarily. His triggers tend to be very specific as opposed to the basic mad-at-the-world kind of persona, and he can spend lots of time with people and have many conversations that don't set him off.
He's also quite fearless. He clearly has pride in his race and will try hard to embody what he feels like are the most representative traits of his people. The fearlessness, though, that's a big one. Many might call what he is willing to do suicidal, but when one of his buttons are pushed he won't back down just because the odds aren't in his favor. He'll make his own odds as far as he sees it.
His sole driving force is the racism against Giant folk. He's not greedy, he seems to view money as a means for survival only. He's not heroic in his actions either. He doesn't really care if the damsel has been kidnapped by a bandit. Yet, he's ready and willing at any suggestion the group makes regarding getting something done.
He's always listening, but seldom looking. He might be using a dagger to pick the grit from underneath his nails, but he's involved in the conversation at hand. There's a non-chalance to this demeanor, but he doesn't miss much. A careful observer would pick out that he's likely listening for something specific, something that might set him fuming...
Appearance:
Mingledash is of average size for a Halfling, 3'1" and about 35 pounds. He young, but it's clear he's lived the life of an adult for a brief period of time. Signs of aging are a long way off, but he also doesn't have that youthful glow to the skin that adolescents have. He exudes confidence, and when he's not scowling his face represents that confidence. He may be small by a human's standard, but he behaves like he can look any man in the eye.
His clothing is functional and his hair is unkempt, but not dirty. It's not hard to tell that he doesn't care about high fashion or trends. He takes care of himself well enough, and maybe if he spent a little time on his appearance, someone of his race might even find him attractive. However, all the function over form in his appearance has thrown that concept out the window.
