Milo's Background:

Backstory:
Milo,a half-elf grew up with his elven father and younger half-elf sister in a small village called Everfield in Rostland, just outside of Brevoy. He has never met his mother, and his father refuses to share any details about her. Milo likes to imagine she is a lady of one of the noble houses, but secretly realizes it is unlikely. Since his father couldn’t always make ends meet by painting portraits for nobles, Milo quickly learned methods to keep his family fed. He started a garden and began hunting. The garden grew thick and lush. He befriended a trapper named Arem Terris, who taught him woodcraft - manufacturing and hiding traps, then preparing the skins. Now that his skills have advanced, Arem has become a friendly rival. He is also an acquaintance of Guy Aldifierre, who has shared countless stories and mementoes of his travels across the Stolen Lands at the local tavern, the Leaning Ox, sparking Milo’s desire to explore this wild and mysterious area. Right now, Milo feels too obligated to care for his family to leave and travel the wilderness. But as he spends more time away from home, his desire grows and his confidence in their ability to get by increases, bolstered by the income and food he sends from his hunting and trapping.

Rights, wrongs, motivations, and personality:
As a half-elf bastard, Milo is used to being looked down on. After much ridicule, followed by lengthy doses of time in the forests outside Brevoy for introspection, he has grown to accept his situation for what it is. Milo treats everyone he meets with respect until they prove they do not deserve it. In particular, he takes care to better understand and be friendly to other half-bloods or social outcasts. In general, he warms up to others quickly and is light-hearted.

Growing up with few possessions or comforts, Milo longs to live in style and comfort, like the nobles his father paints for. Completing his most successful trapping season, Milo found that he has plenty of coin to spare. He is eager to go to Restov and spend it on the luxuries his family could never afford. In truth, he knows nothing about being part of nobility or the upper class. He dreams of building a lavish house with equally lavish furnishings and to invite his friends and family to enjoy it with him. His desire for nice things also extends to his every day actions.

Close Friend: Teena Castor grew up on a bison farm just outside Restov, near Milo’s. Milo spent many hours working at the farm as a child and learning about animals from her and her family. When a wild animal started preying on the bison, the Castors hired Milo to hunt and kill it. He tracked down the wolf that was eating the bison, but instead of killing it, Milo befriended it and keeps her as his companion. He named the gray and black wolf Nix in honor of the elven goddes of night, Nixandira.

Friend: Milo met Guy Aldifiere during his time in the wilderness. He loves hearing Guy’s tales of far off lands like Mivon and Pitax and the amazing stunts and deeds Guy has performed. Milo longs to travel and explore the Stolen Lands, but has not done so yet because he feels committed to taking care of his family.

Acquaintance: Milo frequently stops at Oleg and Svetlana's trading post to spend a night indoors, purchase supplies, or share information about threats in the area.

Rival: Milo learned many of his wilderness skills from a trapper named Arem Terris. While Arem served as a mentor for several years, as Milo's skills improved, they became friendly rivals. Most of the time, Arem hunts further east and Milo towards the west. However, game becomes scarce some years and their ranges overlap, causing actual and not just feigned enmity. Milo would not consider attacking Arem, but he isn't above disarming his traps or getting to Aram's catches first.

Enemy As a child, Milo never got along well with Fathon Lebeda. Although Fathon and his family were minor nobles, he never let Milo forget that he did not belong and was completely worthless. About a year ago, Milo’s hatred grew when Fathon hired Milo’s father to paint a family portrait, yet refused to pay after he’d completed the service. Milo’s father insisted Milo not take revenge, for fear that his name would be ruined if Milo did something rash. To this day, Milo fosters his hatred for the Lebedas, and Fathon in particular. To him, Fathon and the Lebedas represent the reasons Milo and his family have had little business, little success, and barely enough money to eke out a living.

Family: When he is in town, Milo stays with his father, Variel Silverbrush, and his younger sister Abriel. His father thinks he is a spectacular painter and provides his services to the local gentry and minor lords and ladies. In reality, he can barely keep the family in food, so Milo provides for them with his hunting skills.

Description:
Milo’s shoulder-length hair is as black as the shadows of the forest and his eyes the emerald green of oak leaves in summer. His pointed ears indicate he probably isn’t human, but his shadow of a beard indicate he isn’t fully elf. He is hardly seen without Nix, his gray and black wolf companion with yellow eyes.
In the woods, Milo is typically dressed in green and brown chainmail armor, carries a green, and his bow, arrows, and longsword.
When in town, Milo trades his woodsman outfit for less utilitarian garb. He tends to wear expensive clothing and jewelry, though he still favors the browns, greens, and tans of the forest.
