Party Role & Basic Mechanics/Options:
Little bit of everything in the wizard role. Plenty of Knowledge, Party buffs, and Control. Stealth and Perception are pretty solid as well, though I won't be doing much scouting as Mika is relatively fragile- definitely a back-liner in that regard. The quasi-real shadow spells (Shadow Enchantment/Evocation) will be a fun route to take.
Backstory:
Mika was born and spent his youth on the Shadow Plane among other of his kind. Like many Fetchlings, their lives revolved around the whims of a great Umbral Dragon, their master and overlord. Unlike the Dragon however, the Fates weren't cruel to Mika. He was gifted with a number of inborn talents-- most notably gift for learned magic. Thanks to this, Mika spent most of his time working as a scholar and scribe for the dragon, helping manage the many affairs of beast's realm. Despite the relative advantages he held over many of his less skilled fellows, Mika unsurprisingly grew to resent the dragon -and his kin- in time. Mika, however, wasn't a fool, and knew resisting the Dragon was a futile and dangerous exercise. Instead he resigned himself to his work, mastering his magic in what little free time he was alotted. On one fateful day, Mika was roused by a great BANG, followed by a ROAR and a flash of blinding light. When he recovered from the assault on his senses, he looked from his window and saw a great horror: the Dragon, his master, was locked in a fight with another of his kind. Mika, and the rest of the servants and denizens, watched the fight for hours. Just when it seemed they'd come to a draw, the other dragon slipped around and caught the neck of his foe. Badly injured, and unable to continue the fight, Mika's master abandoned the fight. The other dragon, roaring triumphantly, began licking his wounds. Unsure what to do next, Mika joined the rest of his people where a few Fetchling elders were gathering people. From the dragon's hoard they'd collected enough magic to send the younger members of the community away to the Material Plane. Mika, after gathering his things -and a few trinkets from the hoard- was happy to leave. He spent the next few years adventuring in Golarion, having fallen victim to wanderlust and curiosity with his newfound freedom. However, when he heard an escaped band of slave-dwarves talking about an Umbral Dragon deep in the Dark Lands, he found his gentle curiosity fading for his old hate and resentment for the dragon. Might this beast be the same one? Maybe. Either way, Mika -emboldened by years of adventuring successes- figured it would be a cathartic operation to dispatch the dragon. Gathering his things and steeling his nerves, he made his way towards the North, following a path he gleamed from the escaped dwarves, who thought him insane. Not long into his journey underground however, Mika was jumped, and taken captive by a band of roaming Duergar. Starved, beaten, shackled, and generally mistreated, Mika spent the better part of a week being dragged deeper into the tunnels, in some unknown direction. Dumped into a pen with countless others, he slowly realized what had happened...he'd been made a slave. Personality:
Mika is a confident, quick-witted Fetchling, even if he doesn't always say everything he's thinking. He's often content with quiet observation, having learned quite a bit this way over his years. He's adventured long enough to know he's not likely to solve the biggest problems on his own, and values strategy. He's not an impulsive man, and has more patience than most. Having survived a relatively unpleasant youth, Mika draws great strength and pride from his Shadow Plane heritage and seeks to become the best shadow mage he can, and will turn to shadow magic as a default in most situations.
