About Sir Baldric von Bruin

Sir Baldric von Bruin is a Captain in Strahd Von Zarovich the 13th's army, in Barovia. He is the third generation of his family to serve the Von Zarovich family in service to the army; his father and grand father were decorated Captains as well. What is unknown to many is that this family tradition is served from a curse; Baldric's grand father had sworn an oath to the Von Zarovich's which held his family in debt to service for many more generations. Sir Baldric now serves this oath, but is secretly trying to find a way to break the curse and free his future children of forced service.

Sir Baldric and his men were dispatched to a cave west of Castle Ravenloft to search for a man believed to be responsible for several strange murders in the Village of Barovia. As he and his men drew closer to the cave, they were relentlessly attacked by a pack of Dire Wolves, one of whom was something completely different. The pack leader was horribly twisted and mutated, afflicted with some kind of symbiotic possession; it is unclear if it's origins are demonic or simply aberrant.

One by one, the Dire Wolves picked apart Sir Baldric's garrison until only he was left. Standing alone against the twisted pack leader and 2 other Dire Wolves, Sir Baldric held fast until the adventuring party had come upon him in this encounter. Grateful for their assistance, Sir Baldric offered to assist the adventurers, as they seemed to have a similar goal in mind...
