I'm calling for volunteers before Gen Con sign-ups go live this year. The final due date to submit events to Gen Con is March 12th and they'll likely all be inputted next week (along with the Origins events).

Has anyone heard anything more about this? Did I miss the call for GM's?

You're thinking of Jason. At cons I drink water. :-)

Tsk tsk, Josh, I've seen the hours you keep at cons, with that regimen you just might end up having a stroke from stress. (Though your skin will be lovely and well hydrated when it happens.)

I'd like to echo the sentiment here. I LOVE the d20PFSRD site and I also became a contributor a while back in an attempt to help with the codification and centralization of all the wonderful things Pathfinder.

I am thrilled that KQ and Paizo have made such really great stuff available to the public (read: me) for free and with my recent re-employment, I plan to promptly become a subscriber to both KQ and a metric ton of Paizo's stuff ASAP.

Having said that, I know NOTHING about what the CUP and the other open sharing agreements entail. I am, I admit, probably guilty of posting things without proper sitation and jryest has always been very good about going in behind me to clean up my mess.

I would hate to think that John and the other users of the d20pfsrd would be penalized for allowing foolish peons like myself to help in the effort to create a really great (IHMO) resource for gamers.

Anyway, that's my $.02. Thanks so much, Wolfgang and Paizo for putting out great stuff and letting poor people have it too. At least until such time as we can pay for the good stuff of course.

The same as it works with a Paladin's mount, which is also sentient. That is to say, yes, you can negate a hit, you can guide it with knees (which doesn't require talking), or you can just talk to it and tell it what to do.

My DM disagrees. There is no rule he or I can find that says an intelligent mount will be able to know what I want in combat all the time. He says combat would be too loud. Anyone got RAW on this issue?

Thanks Hogarth and Christopher.

I should have thought to check the PRD. I guess they just said "improved trip" as a pre-req as a kind of short-hand.

But there really aught to be something in the section titled "Prerequisites" which says any feat which has another feat as a prerequisite also requires THAT feat's pre-reqs.

Thanks again,

McCaul

Liberty's Edge

Well, see that was my thought as well, but there has been some debate as to whether or not requiring the previous feat implies a requirement or all previous feats in the tree.

Liberty's Edge

Monks can get Improved Trip as a bonus feat without meeting the prereqs. Can a Monk then take Greater Trip without having Combat Expertise or an Int of 13? I've looked all over for something to help me with a ruling either way but can't seem to find it.

Liberty's Edge

Sounds BRILLIANT!!!

I gotta go see this movie!

yes, we had a camera. Wouldn't you take pictures if you were dangling in a death-elevator?

Liberty's Edge

AAAhh Gen Con. . . .

You will be missed.

Favorite moments:

Stuck elevator w/Joe Goodman of Goodman games for 45 minutes only to realize who he was the next day when I ran into him at the Goodman booth and said, "HEY! are you affiliated with Goodman games?" To which he dryly replied, "I own it." egg=onmyface

Now don't I feel like an ass for being obnoxiously optimistic and jokey in the dangling elevator-of-doom (which BTW would make a great adventure, hint hint Mr. Goodman) until the FDIndy came to bust open the top and haul us all out.

P.S. You know you're in a nice hotel when they have refreshments waiting for you after your harrowing ordeal.

Great to meet HedgeKnight. Thanks again for the tickets Gary. You Rock!

I was REALLY proud of the NYC volunteer showing at the Paizo events. Now if we can just get the Paizonians to make their way to us for a con . . .

Saturday's interactive was awesome! Thanks, Tim, Adam, and Boomer and some REALLY awesome Volunteer GM's. (Lora, we gotta get you into a game up here. this s/n at gmail dot com. I'd introduce you around but you've already met almost everybody.)

Lilith, mistress of cookies, you rocked HQ m'dear! Plus I'm convinced that positive attitudes at the Pathfinder HQ were solely responsible for the recovery of my backpack + bazillion dollar laptop.

Daigle was right, BEST GENCON EVER! . . . . until next year . . .

See you all there.

Welcome home, James.

Thoughts?

If I'm understanding you correctly and you're looking to reimbursed for your ticket cost and you're not looking to make a profit off this sale of your tickets (and I don't think you are).

I'd be more than happy to take those tickets off your hands. I'm going to gen-con this year with some con-newbies who signed up late and don't have any tickets at all yet. Several of them are big PFS and Paizo fans and all of them have been feeling frustrated, afraid all the games they're interested in will be sold out by the time they get tickets. This would be a chance for two of them, at least, to have one game each in which they could definitely play.

I'd be happy to arrange a time to pick them up from you at the con.

Please feel free to email me at mccaul0 at gmail dot com and we'll work out the details.

Thanks so much for offering, they'll be very excited.

Sleep deprivation makes for fun gaming, though running a game on no sleep can be problematic. But playing is like doing so high, just without the drugs. That said, I will need one Season 0 scenario then, so I'm up for anything (unless of course I can find a legal table of the one I'm missing before then).

You better not wake me up when you roll in at crazy-o-clock in the morning, Yoda. I'm doing all those 8 am slots ya know.

Thanks for all your work on our behalf. Just from the sheer number of your posts, it's clear you're hearing us and making sure we're in good hands so, let me just say, "Thanks, man." I've never heard of any company that works so hard to take care of its fans.

Paizo rocks.

Can I get an AMEN?

Is anyone else worried about getting comfortable with all the changes from the Beta rules by GenCon? I have to admit, I know my 3.5 rules pretty well, but it took me a while poking around the Pathfinder Beta rules w/groups here at home to feel like I had a firm grasp on the changes just from 3.5 to Beta.

On top of that, I'm starting to hear horror stories about convention gamers with hair triggers and something to prove and I want to make sure I'm not the cause of a whole table's frustration with only . . . 2 weeks is it? of Updated Pathfinder rules exp under my belt.

Anybody have advice or sage wisdom to offer? Am I just being paranoid?

Will there be some forum in which those of us with advance knowledge and an NDA agreement (so no help from the home group) can put our heads together to discuss confusing points?

Liberty's Edge 1/5

On a similar note to BrOp's question, I'd like to play some of the PFS mods I'm NOT running. If that is even possible.

I'm a tier 2 GM myself but I'm not sure what to expect as this is my first time volunteering. Is it unreasonable to expect to actually play PFS mods at gencon if you're GMing and if so, do you just jump into a game if there's space or do you need to sign up for a game once you know what mods you'll be expected to judge?

Liberty's Edge 1/5

I think just 1 xp for GM's. No faction points and no gold . . . maybe 1/2 gold for adventures DM'd would be great. On the other hand, if you've got another DM (which you must if you're worried about playing ever) you're never going to be so far ahead the mod is not enjoyable. I have run tier 4-5 games with a single level 1 player in the party and he's been playing conservatively but it hasn't ruined his fun. So, even if the other players are ahead of you by as much as 5 levels, I haven't seen any reason to think that a lower level character can't have fun with higher level players. But if you're GMing so much that your character is 7 levels behind the others, that might get to be a problem, but the cap is low enough that even if you're switching off with another DM every other game, you should still be able to have a good time with your players when you do get to play.

But, the question was "what do I WANT to see" so my answer to that would be "1xp no faction and half gold." I think that's a reasonable reward for someone who chose to run rather than play a module. You'll be able to keep up with friends and even if you DM much more than you play, eating a mod won't mean you get nothin'.

That's my two cents.
