So...I've been looking into Nex chapter from Impossible lands and this has bothered me for some days.
It appears all three of Nex's major cities bear the weight of some stories, or have specific meaning.
Oenopion - Greek mythology, not much to say here.
Ecanus - Icarus at first sight, the spelling is just too similar...and both of them share the motif of pushing to the limits and ultimately destroying themselves. I know this is a bit of a stretch, I just can't help.
Quantium - At first I thought it referred to the scientific concept of quantum, but later I came to believe it's actually derived from Latin. In Latin, quantus means 'a great quantity of something,' and -ium often suggests grandeur or a marvel. Put together, it gives the meaning of 'a grand marvel forged from a vast quantity of magic,' which perfectly matches the concept of Quantium.
What do you think? How driven away am I?
