History:
William remembered very little of his life before his embrace. He knows that he was knight who fought in the third crusade, or at least that what Nuriel told him shortly after his embrace, that has a natural gift for swordplay on the battlefield.
William would travel battle to battle, skirmish to skirmish with his sire, fighting the enemies choosen by his sire. Fortunately for William, the enemies of Nuriel were same that felt natural to William...Saracens, devil-worshipers, despots and worse.
After one final battle in Northern Germany, Nuriel sat William in a clearing in the woods and began asking questions about William's training and knowledge. Whenever William would hesitate or answer wrong, Nuriel would lash out at William, tempting William's rage, but the neonate would not break. William would suffer multiple lashes and refuse to give into his rage. Finally, Nuriel would ask, "Who is it that claims the lineage of Samiel and swears to uphold his Code with the fervor to which you hold to the life granted by his blood? Do not answer with your mortal name, such as you remember it, answer with the name you would be known as until the world's end." Looking up from the ground to his sire's face, William responded, "Matthias." Matthias would then speak an unbreakable oath to his sire and his lineage. Following the oath, Nuriel handed Matthias a wineskin full of vitae to complete the ritual.
After that night, Nuriel bade the newly born Matthias to strike out on his own, to continue to fight the good fight, and find another to strengthen the bloodline that some night they may again be a Clan.
Matthias would proceed to do as instructed, traveling from battle to battle, skirmish to skirmish in search of the next to join the Salubri. His latest travels have brought him to Valencia, the frontlines of the Reconquista.
