Appearance: Mathias Trellar is a 28 year old Varisian with an olive complexion. He has long black hair, with dark brown eyes and a thick mustache and goatee. He wears a dark purple vest with a dull red trim. He wears a dull red Varisian scarf as well a light purple sash with a belt around it. He wears baggy dark brown pants that end at just below the knee, with sandals that wrap up to his shin. He has tattoos covering most of his upper body and his arms. Most of it is runes on the arms and shoulders, With a symbol of Desna on his left pectoral and a wheel on his right.
Backstory: Mathias Trellar was raises in his caravan by his father, his mother was exiled for associating with Sczarni. He was raised as a follower of Desna and taught varisian culture and warned him about taking his mothers path. his father never told him much about his mother. When he asked his father about his mothers exile he relented and said that she was angry with how the varisian people were treated and wanted all those who did to pay for it. at the age of 15 his caravan stopped through Caliphas, While in the market shopping for supplies he met his mother and her gang. She implored Mathias to join her, but Mathias refused and headed back to his caravan.As he neared his caravan he noticed a mob forming shouting how his people were thieves and murderers. Eventually the mob set one of the caravans on fire and he and his caravan were run out of town, leaving many of their trade goods behind including his families harrow deck. But the burnt caravan and the missing harrow deck didn't bother Mathias, until he learned his father lost most of his arm during the melee with the mob. The next day he walked into the city to his mother to join her gang.
He spent the next 8 years in her gang as a con artist and muscle to shake down local business's. When Mathias was 19 his mother informed him of the location of the man who stole his fathers harrow deck. he went to the mans house in the middle of the night and while the man was in a drunken stupor stabbed him several times in the side, then took his fathers deck and left the man to die. at 23 he was a fairly well off thief and con, almost always drunk wearing a wine stained shirt and a lot of gaudy gold jewelry, while he was walking on the outskirts of Caliphas a caravan passed him. he noticed it was his old caravan then he noticed his father he refused to look at or acknowledge him. Mathias was overcome with shame for the past eight years of his life. He then set about to make his recompense returning all that he had stolen, and paying back those he couldn't. In one day he went from fairly wealthy to destitute. He returned to his caravan half naked and beaten and begged for forgiveness. They welcomed him back to the caravan and left Caliphas the next day.
Mathias has spent the last 5 years travelling with his caravan, working as a fortune teller, and lending out his skills for odd jobs here and there. This is how he met Petros Lorrimor, he accompanied him on several jobs and the became fast friends with the professor.
