About Markus Vardin

Markus is the middle child, his parents middle class merchants sent Markus to the temple of Karana for training in the clerical way. Markus never regretted this, in fact he views it as a boon, for it allowed him to not only be a healer, but allowed him to express his deities will when the lighting strikes. There was many times that Markus would have to be the lighting for his god, for the chaff of monsters needed to be clensed by the coming fire. Markus joined a group of adventurers and met Charlotte Ap Lavtous who would be his wife. That same group also took in Markus sister when she came to find Markus, informing him that the family business was no more; that their parents and his older brother had been killed. Markus would learn that an Iksar had been responsible for the slaining of his kinfolk, a year later Markus would enlist in the war against the Iksar. At the time he was fueled by the thought of being part of thr coming storm against the Iksar, he sent his wife and sister away from the fighting, not wanting the two people he cared more for then himself away from the threat. Markus told them to go to Kelethie, where he would send letters to them, Markus had been helping out the others who had enlisted. Markus soon grew tired of the fighting, but knowing that he had only two years and then he would be done with his effort in the fighting, that was the deal that he had made. Of course things went badly, on the battle field and Markus had been captured, tortured, but managing to not break or lose his faith. He managed to learn the Iksar tongue during his time in a cell, with odly enough too other Iksar, Markus yearns for his freedom, not wanting to rot in a cell, but he thinks, that just might be the case.
