"We have an illusionary bear terrifying the horses." Markus whispers quietly to Rali, "It also appears to be having the same effect on the goblins. If they let loose those slings, the deception will likely be revealed and we will be swarmed."
"I'll target one of them with a small spell to try and get their attention." Markus says to Rali, "If you prepared Grease today, it might be a good idea to cover a side of the road, hopefully forcing a chokepoint for them to pass through, or at least slow them down."
Markus then fires off a Jolt (Cantrip) spell at one of the Goblins with slings, preparing to duck behind what little cover the goods on the cart gives if they change targets to him.
Jolt(Ranged Touch): 1d20 ⇒ 8
Jolt Dmg: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
"Damn, well hopefully that at least got their attention." Says Markus as the spell flashes by, missing them.

Hearing the roar, Markus quickly whips around and sees the bear.
"One thing after another, seems like we aren't going to catch a break tonight." He says, sighing in frustration.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
"Wait a second, somethings not right with this bear. Is this..."
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Wait, are the carts themselves catching on fire, or is it just the area around them?

The horses are not the only ones spooked by the fire. Markus cringes away from the sides of the cart, muttering quietly to himself.
"Gah, would have loved to have learned water or cold spells but noooo, my ancestor had to be a blue dragon. Instead, I get a lightning affinity; absolutely terrible at dealing with g%* d@~n FIRE."

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Having safely pulled Rali onto the cart, Markus fires off a quick Jolt (Cantrip) at the quickly approaching goblins, if they are close enough that is.
Ranged Touch: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Jolt Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Then, as he glances forward to gauge the distance from the light, he does a double take as something barely catches his eye.

"Oh hell..."He whispers to himself before shouting to the cart drivers:"Look out! Trip line across the road, dead ahead!"

Seeing Rali avoid the oncoming horses in a surprisingly nimble fashion, Markus reaches out with the intent of pulling him onto the cart.
Strength Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Making the assumption that Rali's nat 20 puts him in a favorable position for this to work, not sure what to roll so went with a strength check. Will edit/delete/ignore post if necessary.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
I'm assuming since I'm in the back that, despite beating the DC, I can't actually see the result. So, unless stated otherwise, this is to notice Rali up ahead.

Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Strength Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

With the goblins out of range of his spells, Markus takes the crossbow in the off-chance that he might get a lucky shot. He begins preparing to fire when he hears the shout to hold on and quickly grabs on to the cart, barely hanging on as it picks up speed and rockets around the curve.

I believe the wording for it is that you have to have the level of spells unlocked but, ultimately, Zack makes the final call

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Recognizing this as one of the possible ambush spots, Markus remains on high alert. So far, however, he has not noticed anything out of the ordinary.

Besides being able to see, do I get anything extra for having low-light vision in this situation?

There are 5 carts though, middle might be better so you could provide quick support to front and back. On that note, how far away are the carts from each other while traveling?

I am okay with this, I haven't been able to post much since I have been doing a school project. I also couldn't think of anything else I needed to do

Markus stands to leave as well but hesitates, turning to Siegfried.

"Actually, Siegfried, could you expand on those rumors?" As he says this, Markus take out his journal to make notes. "While we may be fortunate and make the trip without incident, it is better to be prepared. Any information about this... Black Tooth, may give us an advantage if we encounter it."

Markus will be spending his time researching the rumors as well as the areas more likely to be attacked along the road. Also, time permitting, he will talk to those travelling with us to find out their combat abilities and talents, if any, in case of a major emergency. All of this will be kept track of in his journal.

Noticing Siegfried's hesitation, Markus gives him a friendly smile, "Come now, no need to worry. I sincerely doubt any of us are the type to abandon those in need despite any danger. Especially since we have already agreed to help."

Well, inspiration has struck and my original intention of a short backstory has changed into something that looks like it will take up a page and a half. Doesn't look like I'm going to be able to finish it tonight but I will get what little I have up now. Let me know if I need to change anything so far, Zack.
And with that, I am going to have to be done posting for the night. Got some work to do and have to get up early tomorrow.

Hmm... Solomon told me to lie low until everything was sorted out, but... damn it, I'm a Donner, I can't turn my back on these people in good conscience. Plus, this is a small town, it shouldn't cause any issues, right?

"I'll help. I can't leave these people without homes to live in or," There is an ever so slight pause, "a church."

Upon hearing Erhart mention Souna, a brief flash of distaste and what seems to be pity crosses his face before he turns his head to the side, ashamed at his display. After Rali and Erhart finish their greetings, Markus gives a small cough and stands as well.

"Since Rali here is doing introductions, I would be remiss to not do so as well. My name is Markus Donner," He extends his hand in offering, a slightly forced smile on his face, "pleased to make your acquaintance, Sir Erhart."

I'm assuming that Markus and Rali have already introduced themselves since we were already at the table and have been here a few days.

There is a reason for it that will be explained more when I finish my backstory, which will be tonight if I'm not too busy with school stuff. Also, it is more for roleplaying/character development and nothing too major so it isn't an issue to delay it.

Markus nods amicably to Erhart as he takes his seat before returning his attention to the other tables. There is an exceedingly casual air about him, slightly unusual considering that his clothes, while fairly worn, hint at the impression of nobility, or at least upper class.

I'm not trained in religion so I can't even attempt the roll. Oh well, my plans for that will have to wait a bit longer then

Wanted to ask before I post on gameplay thread, does Erhart visibly wear/display the symbol of his faith and would it be necessary for me to make a check to recognize that it is religious in nature? Not interested in the knowledge behind it, just whether or not I can recognize it as such.

Can I get a list of the more common gods followed in Gyt and what they represent?
