Background:
Maranax is from a minor noble house of Kyonin charged with the health and maintenance of the Berm. Born and raised on the eaves of the Fierani forest, Maranax had no reason to believe he would ever leave the tranquility of his native land.

Forty-two years ago he became romantically involved with a elf-maid of Siavenian named Alustriel. His usual reserve cracked and he acted in a somewhat naive manner when she asked him to escort a few friends of hers past the Berm. Eager to please his glamorous mistress, Maranax escorted two men and a woman into Kyonin only to later learn they were Razmiran cultists sent to steal certain important artifacts.

The cultists were caught, though Alustriel never was. Maranax was found out and exiled for fifty years. Venturing into the outer world, he has sought out Alustriel without success. He joined the Pathfinder Society to gain the means of traveling the world and looking for his lost love.

Personality:
Maranax is an elven snob. Nothing in the outer world can compare with the beauty, elegance and refinement of his homeland, in his opinion. His natural reserve is almost painfully evident when dealing with non-elves.

However, he is learning to respect the abilities of his fellow Pathfinders (if no one else) and works very hard to ensure that none have reason to find fault with his efforts. He also strives to demonstrate the best of elven dress, culture and taste whenever possible.

Short verstion: He's not quite a total jerk.
