Malendia Athenalia was once a revered eldest daughter of a minor noble house, known as House Gelencareth. As a noble, she received a rather extensive education in court ettiquette, painting, and event some weapons training. Her parents has grand plans to elevate their house by marrying her off to one of the eldest scions of another house. But Malendia had a mind of her own and was not going to be tied down by some spoiled imp that thought the those below his station were his to do with as he please. An idea began to form however, a way out that would allow her to subtly get out of this arranged marriage and allow her the freedom to live her own life.
But she knew very little about contracts, and there was only one source that could provide her the knowledge of such things. At great expense and secrecy, the Half-Elf managed to acquire a book from the church of Asmodeus. If there was any training on how to write contracts to your benefit, it would be there. It took several weeks to get the wording right, but she did it and persuaded her intended, along with her parents, to sign it. Three days later, she had arranged a little surprise that not only got her future husband arrested, but when her parents attempted to wed her to another, she pulled the contract and pointed out that she was now 'disowned' and no longer a part of this family. She was also entitled to her dowry.
With her freedom secured, and money in hand, she set out into the world to discover herself.
