About Mai-Ko
Plagued by voices in his head throughout his youth, Mai-ko found himself an outcast among outcasts in the slums of Goka. Whether at the urging of these voices, or an attempt to flee their incessant rebukes, he set out at the age of 14 to seek his path in the world. After many trials and tribulations, including a brief stint as a minor player in a con scam, a miserably cold winter as a beggar, and a great deal of berating, he awoke one morning on the steps of one of Quain's lesser-known schools of martial arts, his voices finally silenced. The brothers saw a potential in Mai-ko that even he had never imagined. They took him in and fed him in return for the menial chores he performed. Little did he realize that the chores he was performing taught him the motions that served as the basis for the school's ascetic style of martial arts. After a year of service, the brothers welcomed him to their order and set about training him in the arts of body and mind.
With his training complete, the voices returned, though now his peaceful mind was able to hear through their cacophony, to heed their words to walk a righteous path and be an example of the true potential his people possessed.
