From a strict RAW point of view, I tend to agree. From an RAI point of view I strongly disagree. I've never seen any effect giving you so much temp HPs at no cost. For me, it's an oversight from the devs.

As I reread it, I am starting to think that the intent is to allow cycling of THP. Otherwise, why have this statement "When you transform into a form granted by a spell, you gain all the effects..." instead of "When you first transform into a form granted by a spell..."

Without refreshing THP, it seems like just a ribbon ability when you sustain, which does not match the other animist focus spells, which give fairly powerful abilities on sustain.

And as YuriP noted, refreshing THP is not unprecedented.

Channeler's Stance doesn't improve Electric Arc and doesn't really interact positively with Earth's Bile. So a "build made to take advantage of Channeler's Stance" is doomed to be weak.

If you want to make a damage dealing Animist, grab either Dangerous Sorcery (better than Channeler's Stance) or maybe Foretell Harm. But for that you need +2 Charisma... and we end up with Channeler's Stance orange and Charisma green :)

Good point about electric arc. I had missed that.

Can you still get Dangerous Sorcery since they moved it to a class feature?

Glad you enjoyed it!

I would like to echo others' gratitude. Nice job on this.

I have a question about Darkened Forest Form. It says "When you transform into a form granted by a spell, you gain all the effects of the form you chose from a version of the spell heightened to darkened forest form's rank. Each time you Sustain this Spell, you can choose to change to a different shape from those available via any of the associated spells."

I read that as every time you sustain the spell, you can change shape and that changing shape is the same as changing form. So when you do, you gain the effects of the new form including its temporary hit points, and are refreshing the temporary hit points every round. So it makes it the tank to Lurker's striker. Am I reading that correctly?

I've not been able to use Channeler's Stance once in an entire level. I retrain out of it. The action cost is killing it. It's orange at best, nowhere close to blue.

I've been able to regularly Demoralize my opponents. The Animist is the opposite of Charisma casters: It Demoralizes when it has to move.

These two statements seem to contradict each other. In a build made to take advantage of Channeler's Stance (Earth's Bile, Electric Arc, some blasting leveled spells), I think using it in place of the first time you use demoralize would be a better use of an action.

So I'd open with either Channeler's Stance-Move-Earth's Bile if I needed to move
or Electric Arc - Earth's Bile on round 1 and then use Channelers Stance the first time I needed to move.

So I may not use it every fight, but if I never need to move in a fight and can cast two damaging spells per round, then that's a great position for me, so it seems like a better option than dumping AC, HP or speed in order to fit Cha in. I'd rate Channeler's Stance green for a human liturgist taking Natural Ambition. It's good but not required.

I'd leave Intimidation to a teammate that needs Charisma for other reasons. While I generally love Charisma, looking just at what you get from the Animist class, the stat seems red to me. So many other classes can make better use of it.

Is there a way to set it up so it sends me an email when someone posts in a thread?
