10 Minute Background:
Current Situation
As he reads the help wanted poster hung outside the tavern in Sauerton, Lyonel says under his breath ”a damsel in distress, eh? It has been many months since my last woman. And the daughter of a wealthy fool, no less. This errand might bare sweet fruits.” Inside the tavern he orders a double-whiskey and a thick, dark ale. He does not tip the server. Sitting at a table with his drinks, Lyonel picks the dirt from under his fingernails with the tip of his dagger, downs his whiskey, then clears his throat and spits it on the ground. ”This place smells like a wet boot – disgusting people,” he says, ignoring the fact that he has not bathed in longer than he can remember.
Lyonel's Code
1) Hunt bucks, not does and never fawns.
2) First take what I need, then what I want.
3) Never compromise my freedom.
4) If given the choice to take bounties dead or alive, I take them dead.
5) Never pay money for something I can do myself.
Three Goals
1)
2) Find the Half-Elf son-of-a-dog that killed my father and cut his heart out.
3)
Secrets
1) (Known) When my father was murdered I hid like a coward.
2) (Unknown)
Acquaintances
1) The Half-Elf thief that murdered my father. I don’t have a name, but will never forget his long face, his clean blonde hair, or the crescent moon scar above his left eye. I will find him and kill him.
2) Bor’gol, a Half-Orc mercenary kindred spirit. He dislikes civilization and authority and savors the kill after a long hunt. They have been friends for over a decade, but seldom see each other.
3) Shalarra Dimley – the bewitchingly young woman that betrayed Lyonel, stole his contract, his money, and all his supplies then left him to die. He loves her more for it.
4)
5)
6) Beatrix Redthorne – Lyonel’s mother. She abandoned Lyonel when he was just seven years old, leaving him to be raised by his father. Beatrix was smart, cunning, and beautiful. She was as good a hunter as Lyonel and his father combined.
Memories
1) The long rat face of the Half-Elf thief that murdered my for the few coins and pelts he carried.
2) My first bounty.
3) Waking up the first morning after my mother Beatrix abandoned me. My father and I waited around for her for four days in our makeshift camp in the forest before being forced to leave. I cried my eyes out until my father gave me a hard slap, then I grieved in silence. I never knew why she left me or where she went.
