TRAIT
Touched by Divinity: Lurconarr has always instinctively sought balance and poise in his life--perhaps prompted by his adopted family--and since the incident with the lich he has become a truly devout worshipper of Irori, whom he believes to be the only way to keep damaging magicks from destroying the world. He starts play with a free silver holy symbol of Irori, and gains access to the 1st-level bonus spell of one of Irori's domains (Law) as a once-per-day spell-like ability.
Death-Touched: Lurc's brush with the lich left him thinner, fitter, and paler than before, but once he had recovered under his adopted father's ministrations, he was hardier than ever. He gains a +1 trait bonus to Fortitude saves.

CLASS
Arcane School: Abjuration
Opposed Schools: Enchantment and Necromancy
Scroll Blade: A scrollmaster can wield any paper, parchment, or cloth scroll as if it were a melee weapon. In the hands of the Wizard, the scroll acts as a short sword with an enhancement bonus equal to 1/2 the level of the highest-level Wizard spell on the scroll; a scroll with only a cantrip or 1st-level spell on it counts as a masterwork short sword. The scrollmaster is proficient in this weapon, and feats and abilities that affect short swords (such as Weapon Focus) apply to this weapon. A scrollmaster cannot wield two scrollblades at the same time.

Activating this ability is a free action. A scroll blade only retains its abilities in the hands of the scrollmaster. The scroll blade has hardness 0 and hit points equal to the highest-level Wizard spell on the scroll. Each successful hit by the scroll blade reduces its hit points by 1; this damage cannot be repaired, but does not affect casting from the scroll. When its hit points reach 0, the scroll is destroyed. If a scroll contains a spell with a metamagic feat, this ability uses the original spell level of the spell (a scroll of empowered fireball counts as a 3rd-level spell).

Scroll Shield: A scrollmaster can wield any paper, parchment, or cloth scroll as if it were a light wooden shield. In the hands of the Wizard, the scroll grants a +1 shield bonus with an enhancement bonus equal to 1/2 the level of the highest-level Wizard spell on the scroll; a scroll with only a cantrip or 1st-level spell counts as a masterwork light shield sword. The scroll shield has no armor check penalty, arcane spell failure chance, or maximum Dexterity bonus. The scrollmaster is considered proficient in this shield. A scrollmaster can use a scrollblade in one hand and a scroll shield in the other hand.

Activating this ability is a free action. A scroll shield only retains its abilities in the hands of the scrollmaster. The scroll shield has hardness 0 and hit points equal to the highest-level Wizard spell on the scroll. Each successful attack roll against the Wizard reduces the scroll shield’s hit points by 1; this damage cannot be repaired, but does not affect casting from the scroll. When its hit points reach 0, the scroll is destroyed.

FEAT
Scribe Scroll: Lurconarr can create a magical scroll of any spell he knows; this takes two hours if the scroll's cost is 250 gp or less, otherwise it takes 1 day for each 1,000 gp in base price.

Combat Casting: Lurconarr gains a +4 bonus on concentration checks to cast spells or use spell-like abilities defensively or while grappled.

Meditation Master: Lurconarr is a devout follower of Irori, and engages in daily meditation exercises: When you meditate for at least 1 hour after getting at least 8 hours of rest, you gain special insight into your situation that is nearly impartial, granting you the edge in whatever endeavor matters most during the day. After meditating, you gain a +1 insight bonus that you can apply to any d20 roll over the course of the next 24 hours without using an action. The bonus may be applied after the roll is made, but must be applied before the results of the roll are determined. Once the bonus has been used for the day, you cannot use it again until after you meditate again after another 8 hours of rest. An unused bonus fades after 24 hours.

Backstory:
Lurconarr Charthagnion (or Lurc, as he frequently asks his friends to call him) never knew his real parents. They were probably from Molthune; on the other hand, it's always possible that they were Nirmathan. He grew up deep in the Fangwood, in a tiny settlement hidden from outsiders known as Shana-ko-Irriwa. It was a haven, a secret settlement safe from the strife of the two neighboring nations, populated by a large clan of kitsune called the Ayabakuri. They lived happily among themselves and, having found Lurc in the woods as a babe, they fostered him cheerfully into one of their families, where he grew up much as a normal member of the clan.

Of course, Lurconarr was not a kitsune, a fact he was frequently teased for and bullied over when he was young (the kitsune predilection for good-natured trickery, it seems, can make it difficult for the young ones to draw the correct lines between teasing and bullying). Lurc was a frail boy, but he bore the teasing patiently and, with the gentle guidance of his father and one of his older foster-brothers, he managed to befriend or shame most of the bullies. He also received a great deal of guidance from a hermit named Jyoki, an old kitsune woman who lived on the edges of the community and (unusually, for the clan) worshipped Irori. Lurconarr was fascinated by the old woman's faith, and found that the meditative exercises, discipline, and philosophy of order helped him immensely.
