Background:

Lunthawg was born into a small tribe like most goblins. However, he was smarter than most and had a bit more fierce devotion to carrying out the mad and chaotic schemes of Lamashtu than many goblins. Being smarter and more practical, he set about finding a way to make the mayhem more effective. Picking up magic from a combination of finding a trove of old elven artifacts and simple genius as well as devotion to Lamashtu and the goblin barghest hero-gods (who he swears gave him his familiar) he set about helping the goblins "go faster and hit stuff harder" as he put it.

Just after starting to learn magic, however, his tribe was attacked by pirates raiding during a trip down a nearby river. Taken into captivity and forced to cut anchor lines for them for some time (they said he was small and sneaky) he eventually broke free, but liked the taste of piracy he had gotten. That said, he does sometimes get depressed that water puts out the fire he otherwise loves. But he's happy that he doesn't have to see horses or dogs much while out at sea. He rarely sticks with any pirate crew for very long, his attention span short and his desire for chaos quite large.
