HISTORY:
Lucina was born on a rainy night in the middle of summer. Her cries echoed through the temple she would come to grow up in. Where normally a birth called for celebration, her mother, Eida received her with sadness. Lucina rarely saw Eida growing up and was instead raised by her aunt Diabinthe, who loved her dearly. Diabinthe was her only way of getting to know about Eida. Lucina's mother avoided her and was sure to retire to her chambers each night before Lucina had a chance to approach her. Lucina was an outcast and never was able to make many friends. Her time was dedicated to her Lady Pharasma and her training to become a priestess was hard. She was to become an oracle like her mother and grandmother before her. She envied other girls as she watched them make choices for their own lives while her's was already chosen for her. She was drawn to people who wandered or traveled and loved hearing their tales as they visited the temple. She resented being confined to the temple and living a life that she felt was just a continuation of her mother and grandmother's life. She loved the idea of traveling so much that she would often be given dreams of a shooting star. The dream always ended with the star landing in her hands or heart.
Through the years she grew to accept her situation, and instead decided to explore the temple in order to learn all she could about being a priestess. She explored the large temple and knew every nook and cranny, except for one room where any access was denied. She sometimes could feel cold air and heard strange sounds even though no one had been in the room for years. During the day her schedule varied but usually consisted of pretty much the same activities. She learned to help people and how to perform rituals. She learned symbols and herbs, holy days and practices. She learned how to fight and how to destroy undead, but the gift of being an oracle never graced her. That is until the day she turned 13 and her womanhood was upon her. Lucina never truly felt the weight and burden of being a priestess until her coming of age ceremony. On that day everything in her life changed. Her mother whom she never saw growing up suddenly came out of her chamber and embraced her. Eida grabbed the shocked Lucina's hand before the poor girl had even a chance to question and drug her to the sealed room. As they approached the large dark wooden door, Eida raised a trembling hand and placed it as gently as widows last caress to her husband's face. Silence fell upon the mother and daughter as the door gently opened swinging in, revealing a cold stone room. The air was like ice and the sounds of whispering whirled about the room. When Eida and Lucina crossed the threshold, the voices stopped and the strong feeling of being observed clung to them. Eida walked over to the fireplace in the back of the room and lit it revealing a large circle carved into the floor. "Sit Lucina, there is much for me to say" and with that Eida began to weave a tale with her soft voice. Her mother spoke of a woman by the name of Merra who came one rainy night to the temple with her three dying daughters. Lucina was told that her grandmother, Nadyka was supposed to heal the three girls, but the ritual involved took too long. The three little girls passed away in that very circle they were sitting in. Merra had just lost her husband to a mysterious illness. Not long after his death, symptoms of his illness began to manifest in her three daughters. She brought them to Nadyka in desperation, screaming and crying for her to tell the Goddess to spare them. While Nadyka went to gather supplies at the back of the temple, the breath of life left the three little bodies leaving only a grieving mother behind...or so they thought. Merra ran from the temple shrouded in her own tears that were lost in the rain. Her feet carried her until they reached soft sand. From her purse she pulled out her husband's dagger, one he had often carried with him everywhere he went. She looked up at the sky and with her last breaths cursed Nadyka for failing her. She runs the dagger over her palm sealing her words with blood then slowly walks into the water until nothing of her could be seen. Eida explained that the curse was now passed down to her and that she would now inherit the burden of finding peace for those little girls. Eida also finally told Lucina the reason for being distant all these years. She wanted to give Lucina a chance at having atleast a normal childhood, away from her mother's curse. Lucina didn't quite understand just what the curse was yet. The story shook Lucina to the core, but nothing could prepare her for what she was to endure. It began with months of visions and strange dreams where a priestess that looked similar to her mother was beseeched by a woman who was desperate to save the lives of her three daughters. The woman was wearing mourning garb and her hair was soaked. Her eyes were wild with grief and desperation. But it wasn't the the image of the woman that haunted her, nor her mournful gasping cries; it was the faces of three thin little girls who were limp in her arms. The frightening dream always ended with the woman saying, "bare witness celestial host and infernal horde! I curse Nadyka the priestess, may she bear the burden of my daughter's deaths. May their passing be like soot that cannot be cleansed until appeased!" With those words the woman slips into dark water at night, walking until the crown of her head is washed over by black waves. A few days after her last vision, three ghosts came to her bed one night and told her their names. They said their names were Aedia, Besia and Roud. These were the spirits of Merra's daughters. Little did Merra know that her curse would bind her daughters to Nadyka and her bloodline until they are released through some form of appeasement. Aedia, Besia and Roud would usually appear to Lucina as ravens made of soot. They were mischievous like any little girl would be and loved to prank Lucina as often as they could. Lucina came to love the three little spirits and would even sing to them lullabies at night. Although she was always accompanied by the three little spirits, she longed for someone who would bring a spark of life and warmth into her life. Someone must have listened to her heart's wish because one day as she was walking about the markets and gathering supplies for dinner; she heard a loud terrible noise coming from her purse. She spun around only to be greeted by two dark eyes, so dark they resembled coal. Time stood still as she took in the image of the young man before her and for a second she felt her heart flutter like a flame. She could hear the soft giggling of the three spirits as they flew above her head. When the realization of his hand being in her purse set in, he had already bolted. A week passed before she would ever see that young man again but she thought of him often. So often that one day she just couldn't perform her daily rituals and needed a day of wandering about the city. As luck would have it, she sees him again only this time he was being beaten down by a small group of thugs. She yelled at them in her most authoritative voice, "I am a priestess of Pharasma, would you gentlemen like me to report to the goddess of DEATH that she may need to take you a bit sooner? It would be a shame if she came to visit you in your sleep eh?" With those words the thugs scattered like roaches in sunlight. They left the man with the coal eyes lying on the ground unconscious, leaving her work cut out for her that day. After dragging his bruised and battered body back to the temple, she cleaned him up and tucked him to bed. When he finally came to, he revealed his name as Creed and the rest was history. They became best friends, sharing their experiences in life with one another and growing closer each day. They marry and begin a happy life together. He would attend all her rituals and ceremonies and she would always go watch him perform at the commons. Aedia, Besia, and Roud loved playing tricks on Creed and came to love him like they love Lucina. They displayed affection for him by moving his things around at night and hiding his shoes. Learning about his Varisian heritage along with his gift of fire, Lucina nick named him "wandering star", in reference to the Varisian need to wander and his ability to control fire. They leave for Truana and begin a new life there. They hope to find an artifact there to set the three girls free. She is attempting to start a temple dedicated to Pharasma. APPEARANCE:
