I was just looking around and found this 2 cases with I have doubt about.

1- Unarmed strike and UC Rouge:

I quote:

"[...] starting at 3rd level, she can select any one type of weapon that can be used with Weapon Finesse (such as rapiers or daggers). Once this choice is made, it cannot be changed. Whenever she makes a successful melee attack with the selected weapon, she adds her Dexterity modifier instead of her Strength modifier to the damage roll. [...]"

Can I add my Dexterity on unarmed strike? Can I considerate Unarmed strike as a weapon in this case? Weapon finesse works with Unarmed strikes, so I think this ability of the rouge can work with Unarmed strikes.
So for me it's ok, but I prefer to ask for be sure.

2- Two-handed weapon (Glaive) and Dexterity bonus:

With the feat Bladed Brush Combat (you can find it in the book "Paths Of The Righteous", page 15), I can use weapon finesse with a Glaive.
But I quote:

"[...] When wielding a glaive, you can treat it as a one-handed piercing or slashing melee weapon and as if you were not making attacks with your off-hand for all feats and class abilities that require such a weapon (such as a duelist’s or swashbuckler’s precise strike). [...]"

So I suppose I can take the Slashing Grace feat, and add my Dexterity bonus, or use the UC Rouge ability as before for add my Dexterity bonus to damage rolls.
In this case, how much should I add? It's a two-handed weapon, so usually you add your strength bonus plus half of it (strength 16 equal +4). How about Dexterity bonus? In case of Dexterity 16, I add +3 or +4?

Thank you very much in advance for all your comments and suggestion.
If you are curious and want to know, I will run a new campaign soon, and two of my players ask me those questions. One want to play a Sacred Fist (Warpriest archetype) and he is thinking also to take 3 levels as UC Rouge for the ability I wrote before, and the other one would like to be a Devoted Muse in future, a prestige class you can fine always in Paths Of The Righteous.

Ok, probably for many of you it's a stupid question, but I want to be sure.

I am having some problems to understand how prestige class and spell progression works. Why? Simple, it's the first time for me!

If I did understand well, I just advance in the caster level, and get no other benefits. Is it right?

Let's make an example:

Cleric 7the level + Umbral Court Agent 4the level.

In this case can I cast 5th level spell from the cleric spell list?

Well, I just wonder if I the Samurai ability Iaijutsu Strike with The called shot feat.
I think I can not use with Improved Called Shot. And also not sure about Greater Called Shot.
One of my player would like to try this out, but I think the rule of Iaijutsu Striker are very similar to Vital Strike, so I suppose the two ability will not stack.
Let me know what you think about it.
Thanks

Hello everyone.

I searched on the messageboards, but still find nothing about my problem, so I will ask here quickly.

I quote from the books.

Alchemist, Alchemy:
"[..]At each new alchemist level, he gains one new formula OF any level that he can create[...]"

Investigator, Alchemy:
"[...]At each new investigator level, he gains one new formula FOR any level that he can create.[...]"

It is right? Or just a type error?
That's mean Investigator will get much more formulae than the Alchemist, right?

Is there any FAQ that I did not notice about this little problem?

Ok.
I have just a little question about Feat and Prerequisite for some kind of weapons.
I am talking about all the weapon with a description like that: "Characters can use a WEAPON two-handed as a martial weapon; but must take the Exotic Weapon Proficiency (WEAPON) feat to use it one-handed"

Now, it is not a problem about use or not use the weapon.
My question is: if I want the feat (for example), Improved Critical, do I need the EWP feat or not?

Let's make a big example:
Fighter, using a Bastard Swords with 2 hand. This class is proficient with all martial weapons, so the character has no problem to use Bastard Swords with 2 hands.
At 9th level the Fighter wants the Improved Critical feat.
Improved Critical ask these prerequisites: Proficient with weapon, base attack bonus +8.
Now, the character is at 9th lever, so he has +9 as BAB. However, he has never took the feat EWP (Bastard Sword), because he always used the weapons with 2 hands.

The question is: can the Fighter take the feat or not? Or he needs to take the EWP first?

Thank you all, and sorry for my bad English

Ok, I have my player, who is playing a this character:

Barbarian, Skinwalker (Ragebred).
At 4th level he has this feat:
- power attack
- extra feature (so he can use the hooves of the ragebred)
And this rage power:
- beast totem lesser
- animal fury

If we put all together, he will have this attack at full attack round:
Bite
Claws X2
Hooves X2
Gore

6 natural attacks

My problem is... can he really do so many attacks?
I mean, Minotaur can not use their hooves, or horses can use only 2 of their 4 hooves... so in my opinion this character can not do all the attacks. He need to put the hooves down, at least, for do not fall down.

For me there is no problem if my player do 6 attacks, my problem is play by the rule (Yes, I am LN, lol)

Thank you for help me

So... I am having problem with my player about that.
He is near to get the new level, and so he asked me about be a Battle Herald. No problem for me. To be honest, I am happy for that choice!

The problem is Lingering Performance.

Now, for me, Lingering Performance does not increase of 2 rounds the Inspiring Command ability of the Battle Herald.
Because, and I quote:

"The bonuses and penalties from your bardic performance continue for 2 rounds after you cease performing. Any other requirement, such as range or specific conditions, must still be met for the effect to continue. If you begin a new bardic performance during this time, the effects of the previous performance immediately cease."

So, it is specific for Bardic Performance.

However, my player point out this:
"She may use this ability for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + her Charisma modifier, plus 2 additional rounds per level after 1st. She may use rounds of bardic performance to issue inspiring commands, but not vice versa. Inspiring commands are language-dependent, mind-affecting effects. The battle herald cannot maintain an inspiring command and a bardic performance at the same time (this does not preclude abilities such as persistent command or the Lingering Performance feat, which continue an inspiring command or bardic performance after the battle herald stops maintaining it)."

And he insists about the fact that Lingering Performance gives 2 rounds also to Inspiring Command ability, after you stop this ability.

Now, we are not American, neither native English speaker. We are Italian.
I am thinking that maybe one of us is making some trouble to understand all of that because of different languages.

Anyway, this:
"The battle herald cannot maintain an inspiring command and a bardic performance at the same time (this does not preclude abilities such as persistent command or the Lingering Performance feat, which continue an inspiring command or bardic performance after the battle herald stops maintaining it)."
Because it is written like that, I think that Persistent Command is relative to the Inspiring Command ability on the second sentence, while Lingering Performance is relative to the Bardic Performance on the second sentence.

So, for me Lingering Performance has no effect on Inspiring Command

Please, help us to get out of this!

Sorry for my bad English, and sure you can laugh to it ;P! lol

I will write down the two rules that make me think about a change:

Paladin (Holy Tactician):

"Battlefield Presence (Su)
At 3rd level, a tactician can direct her allies in battle, granting each ally within 30 feet one teamwork feat she possesses as a bonus feat as a standard action. All allies must receive the same feat, but do not need to meet the prerequisites of this bonus feat. This ability does not function if the paladin is flat-footed or unconscious. Allies must be able to see and hear the holy tactician in order to gain this benefit. Changing the bonus feat granted is a swift action.
This ability replaces aura of courage."

Cavalier:
"Tactician (Ex)
At 1st level, a cavalier receives a teamwork feat as a bonus feat. He must meet the prerequisites for this feat. As a standard action, the cavalier can grant this feat to all allies within 30 feet who can see and hear him. Allies retain the use of this bonus feat for 3 rounds plus 1 round for every two levels the cavalier possesses. Allies do not need to meet the prerequisites of these bonus feats. The cavalier can use this ability once per day at 1st level, plus one additional time per day at 5th level and for every 5 levels thereafter."

My question is why the Holy Tactician has no round limit and no daily limit?
In my opinion, the two special abilities should be same, or much more similar than this. The point is Tactician is a very good ability for the Cavalier, and make him unique.
By giving a "no time limited" similar ability to other classes, make the Cavalier to "lose points" in the eyes of other player too.
hmm, so for me it is better to use same rules for other classes too, with a round and a daily limit to the ability.
What do you think about it?
I was thinking about try once time to put the same rule about Tactician (with round and daily limit) for this example or for other classes too (if the have a similar ability).

P.s.: I do not care about what is more powerful or not, it is just my way to see a unique class like Cavalier, with less unique abilities

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hi to all.

Soon, a new player will enjoy my campaign. She will play a druid, and her deity will be Desna. She wants her druid to be a very strong follower of her goddess.
So, she asked me for a Butterfly vermin companion.
With no rules on the path's book, and much free time, I tried to create it.

Butterfly, Giant:
Starting statistics: Size: Medium; Speed: 20 ft., fly 60 ft. (good); AC: +1 natural armor; Attack: bite (1d6), Ability Scores: Str 10, Dex 15, Cos 10, Int -, Wis 14, Cha 7; Special Qualities: dark vision; CMD: +8 vs trip
7th-Level Advancement: Size: Large; Speed: 20 ft.; fly 60 ft. (perfect); AC: +2 natural armor; Attack: bite (1d8); Ability Scores: Str +8, Dex -2, Con +4

Please let me know what you think, your opinion, or if you have any suggests and so on!

Thank you (and sorry for my bad English ><!)

I have a little question about Incorporeal Undead and Cure Wounds.

If an Incorporeal Undead is hit by Cure Wounds it will take only half damage, right? Because only Channel Energy make 100% damage on Incorporeal.

So, what if the Incorporeal Undead do not fail the Will Save? It will takes only 25% damage, or will take no damage? ("[...]Even when hit by spells or magic weapons, it takes only half damage from a corporeal source (except for channel energy)[...]")

Or Cure Wounds is a Force Spells? ("[...]Force spells and effects, such as from a magic missile, affect an incorporeal creature normally.[...]"). In this case I will follow the normal rule of Undead (if the Will Safe fails take all damage)

In my opinion it will takes only 25%... but I just want to be sure I am not making any mistake...

Hi everyone.

Well, one of my player just selected the feat Leadership.
He would love to have a Girtablilu like cohorts (here a quick link for the stat and CR:
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/bestiary3/girtablilu.html#_girtablilu)

My problem is... level for this monster?
I was thinking about 13 or 14
Or maybe better a more high level?

Thanks you :) (and sorry for my terrible English^^;...)
