Happy to have the ooze following her and not attacking the priest, Luanna draws back a little more and sends another pair of shooting stars at it. Two bright slivers of light fly at the creature, driving into its soft form.

Luanna steps away from the injured priest, hoping to draw the ooze away from him and toward here. She calls forth a set of shooting stars and sends them slamming into the silver ooze.

"This silver ooze is hostile! Take it out NOW!" she yells, mostly for the show.

"Found him! Get in quick to help get a rock off him. Watch out for something silver moving toward him. Not sure what it is!"

Luanna moves in the room and toward the pinned dwarf, dividing her attention between evaluating how badly he might be hurt and what the moving silver stuff is.

I'm not sure if these can be relevant during the move, but in case they help sort out what she can tell at first glance. I enlarged the token's on the map to reflect the indicated scale of five feet for one square.

Luanna makes sure everyone is through safely, then she leads the way deeper into the temple, calling out Holsin's name both vocally and telepathically. After each call, she pauses to listen for any response.

Luanna suggests the group split up to check the two ways out of the first room for the injured priest.

I know the "never split the party" rule, but we don't need to go far into each room to see if there is a reason to explore further. We can regroup quickly if we don't spread out too far.

Athletics: 1d20 ⇒ 15

Luanna is not an athlete, but she makes a try at staying dry. Once through, she proceeds cautiously, peering about curiously. She thinks to the group, "Someone went to a lot of trouble to convince these dwarves they are in natural caverns. Maybe the system is getting old and failing. We know another section had clones involved in a different sort of experiment."

Physical Science: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Luanna works her way into the fissure, trying to leverage any physics or chemistry she recognizes will apply. She calls back before diving in, "This is just some kind of mechanical lubricant. It is not harmful to touch."

She adds telepathically, "Hint: this is not a natural cavern system."

Luanna checks that her medkit is securely attached to her belt at the small of her back. She takes a moment to put on an Enviro Mask in case any toxic gases were released in the fissure. She turns on a lantern for light and starts working her way into the fissure.

Luanna does not need the prompting of the fans to decide to do what she can to get to the priest if there is a way, perhaps squeezing through the fissure.

Edit: Deleted the part about using the detect through spell, as I remembered she used that already and it's a 1/day Spell-like ability.

Luanna follows Yiga, making sure her medical kit is handy. "Direct me to any who are wounded. I am a healer," she says in Celestial.

Ylga replies in celestial. "We measure time in cycles of waking and sleeping now. My mother told me that in the Hall of Brudan before the orcs came time was measured by bowls filled by water the dripping from a stalctite. A full cycle was 74 bowls. "

Luanna repeats the question in celestial and after hearing the answer, she asks, "How many cycles do your people typically live?"

If Yiga is curious, Luanna explains cycles on Castrovel. A cycle of walking and sleeping is called a day and corresponds to the time it takes the planet to rotating once, with about half that time in daylight and half in darkness. Then she explains that there are 180 days in one orbit of the planet around the sun.

When Luanna gets back to Yiga, she asks, "How do you measure time's passing? Do the words 'day,' 'night,' 'month' or 'year' mean anything to you?"

"First contact is always exciting, but I'm thrilled because I've got an intuition these people might shed light on what happened during or before the gap. They seem ancient, speaking ancient languages. Perhaps the moon was a way to preserve a bit of pre-gap civilization. Let's find out!"

"As you wish," Luanna says and then explains to the group. In common she says, "This is first contact. We must be diplomatic and encourage them to let us lead them to the entrance."

Luanna sighs. "We are from the greater universe that contains all things, including this planet and these tunnels. From this area it looks like a natural cave complex but down below," she gestures toward the hole through which she and the others climbed/flew, "you will see a tunnel made out of metal and things you probably cannot imagine or understand how they work. This was created by someone very powerful and advanced for purposes we know not. How many generations have your lived here?"

"We only just arrived entering from the surface. We only encountered a couple of goblins and some kind of scavenger. No orcs yet. If you want to get to the surface, we can direct you to where we came in. How long has your people lived here? Can you share a little of your history? I promise we will explain more about our history, but that may have to wait until we finish our exploration."

Luanna first telepathically advises Wazasha and the crew that she will speak first with the dwarves in Celestial and explain to them the situation, which may take some time. She asks if they have any way to translate celestial for the audience so she doesn't have to interrupt things to translate herself. She promises her allies she will give them brief telepathic updates.

Then she speaks to Ylga. "I am proud to be able to the first of our people to greet you. We are all from places far distant. There is indeed a surface where you may find safety. We come from beyond the surface, from other planets around other stars. Those who smell bad are not dangerous and are documenting what we discover as we explore the interior of the planet. They are ... technically dead, but not in a bad way. Starfinders, as our organization's name implies, explores the greater realm of the stars. We come from various places where intelligence has graced many different types of beings. I am also a doctor, so if any of your people need medical attention, we will do what we can to help. Now, what can you tell us of what is below? What are the dangers of exploring deeper? "

Luanna responds in celestial, happy for the chance to speak the lyrical laguage. "I am Luanna and we are Starfinders on a mission to explore this area. Some goblins blew a hole in the ceiling of a passageway below, so we are looking around. Were you aware of the area below?"

She sends a telepathic message to Wazasha and the Starfinders, translating what was said to the group and by her.

"It tore open a dead person, making it a scavenger. And it is ignoring us living folk, meaning it is not a predator. "

She lets her camera record the details of the creature's anatomy. For Zo!'s cameras she says, "It is our mandate to investigate and report what can be determined about new creatures like this. That way other Starfinders can know what to expect when they come upon one and not provoke a needless fight."

Luanna climbs up the rubble pile after Grathus flies through the hole, hoping to observer better what is there.

Luanna is mainly interested in seeing if there is any information in all that equipment that would explain their presence, beyond the obvious looting behavior. How did they get in?

Has the armadillo-like creature exhibited any behavior suggesting it might turn aggressive once it runs out of goblin pops?

Luanna observers the creature making a meal of one of the goblins. "Looks like a scavenger. We need to find out more about these interlopers. Get the gear from that other goblin. I'll see if I can get the gear off the one that is getting eaten."

Luanna uses Psychokinetic Hand to pull what gear she can from the goblin as the creature eats his flesh.

Best to assume any telepathy directed beyond the Starfinders also goes to her allies, so they know what's being communicated. If she sends a private message to an NPC, I'll code it as such.

Luanna sends a brief message to the undead director. "Gratius informs me such instructions may goad him to attack you instead. We will make decisions of life and death, not you or your viewers."

Luanna advances with Idir and gives the strange creature a telepathic poke. What are you looking for friend?

I moved Idir and Luanna's tokens closer to the critter.

Luanna searches her memory to see if she recognizes the creature.

Life Science: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

Luanna frowns when Wazasha tells of the fan promptings. "Pathfinders do not kill just for the amusement of bystanders. Our goals are 'Explore, Report, Cooperate.' So let's approach this interesting creature to learn more about it. We only attack it if it threatens us."

Telepathically, Luanna says to the rest, I hope you all back me up. This is not a gladiator arena, it is a new horizon.

Not having special low-light or dark vision like the others, Luanna actually appreciates the lights.

She sticks to Grathus' side, moving where he moves. She calls out, "We are Pathfinders authorized to explore this place. Identify yourself. If you need medical assistance, I can provide it."

I'm okay to post for the next week. After that, I'll be in recovery mode from an eye operation that might last a few days to a week, although I should be able to make brief posts as needed.

After 'listening' to the scattered thoughts ahead, Luanna tells her partners using telepathy to prevent alerting the beings ahead. "Feels like our goblin and Vesk plus some animal up ahead. They are in a panic about what to do. Let's approach with caution."

She faces whatever camera drones are nearby and puts a finger to her lips to indicate the need for stealth.

I'm having outpatient surgery this morning (cataract removal). Not sure how it will affect posting for the next few days, so 'bot me if needed.

Luanna's face shows genuine shock and concern. She glances at her comrades, telepathically checking if everyone is okay, and then turns to head toward the location of the explosion. "If this is any indication," she tosses the jerry-rigged pistol aside as she starts walking. "We're dealing with amateurs possibly trapped here. That could make them extra dangerous both to themselves and to us."

Luanna concentrates as she walks, presses her forefingers against the temples as she does so (purely for the cameras), and casts Detect Thoughts. She ignores anything coming from around her and listens for thoughts ahead of them. If there is a camera near her, she quietly explains, "I'm trying to detect the thoughts of anyone up ahead."

If anyone wants to take the lead, she lets them by.

Range 60 feet, DC 12 Wills save negates, duration: concentration, up to 2 minutes.

Luanna adds, "Some of this poop is relatively fresh so look alive. We are not alone." She tries to make that sound ominous although she immediately realizes that the word 'poop' probably works against that attempt.

When the object on the ledge is noticed, Luanna says, "I can bring that down." Once everyone knows what she is going to do, she concentrates and generates a Psychokinetic Hand and attempts to gently bring down whatever is up there.

"Same word, different origins and meanings," Luanna explains and then telepathically gives a more complete explanation. "Scat for animal excrement comes from the Castrovelian root word Shast, meaning dung or exrement, usually used in the wild, where reading animal droppings is an important way to know what is in the area. There's a joke I'll have to tell you later about that. Singing skat is just one of the nonsense words Dewdrop Casey used when she started singing in that style after she lost her feed of the lyrics during a live performance."

Luanna tells Grathus it seems important to share and then speaks to the group. "Grathus says this scrap appears to have been pulled off and discarded from something fancy. Since we've got goblins and vesk, maybe they were part of a scavenging group that passed through here. From the scat, I'd say they were here about ..."

Awaiting GM information on how fresh the excrement appears.

When Luanna comes up to the midden, she picks up a discarded light stick and pokes it into the different bits of excrement and leans in to get a whiff of the odors. She wrinkles her nose and her antennae twitch. "Ugh! Goblin scat here, and Vesk over here. Sometimes it pays to know your sh!+."

How fresh is the excrement?

Formatting note: Dialogue in italics and not bold is Luanna using telepathy to communicate with the other Starfinders (but not the production staff unless she needs them to know something, in which case I'll state the recipients).

"Fortune favors the bold!" Luanna says as the group advances through the door.

"I hope that was heroic enough," she 'paths to the group.

Luanna switches on her own video camera, which is affixed via a discreet harness at her sternum. She then activates a light which acts as a lantern, illuminating a ten foot radius. "Just so everyone knows, I'm the only one who cannot see in the dark. I'll stay to the back so my light doesn't announce our approach too obviously."

She attaches the lantern to a caliper on her hip so to keep her hands free.

Once this is done, she announces, "I'm going to scan for magic for now. I'll let you know if anything lights up." She sweeps her hands in a circle while saying Ukaž mi kouzlo!

"I don't need to say that but it sounds more heroic, yes?"

She concentrates on the path ahead, watching for signs of magic, ignoring anything on any of her comrades or the production crew.

If no magic is detected after the first bit of movement, she'll drop the detect magic spell and cast Telekinetic Hand, which she then uses to hold the lantern near her, moving it as needed to illuminate the scene.

Regarding the defaced signage, she says, "Looks like someone did some redecorating."

Upon reaching the robot, she waits while those with appropriate expertise check it out.

Luanna joins everyone at the entry point. She has tied her hair in a ponytail and tucked it inside her armor to keep it from getting in the way or from being grabbed in case she gets into close combat. It doesn't look as glamorous, but she doesn't care to risk anything just to please the producers. As for looking heroic, she spends a moment inspecting her weapons to make sure they are loaded, even though she did that earlier.

Once Grathus comes out of the booth, Luanna telepathically asks him in common, "How was the translation? If you want, I can serve as translator. I grew up on Triaxus and am familiar with Dragonkin culture. I don't speak draconic, but Triaxian is my native tongue."

Luanna replies to Wazasha's question about her experience dealing death during adventures. "So far, the only things I killed are a couple of different kinds of constructs, robots that went haywire and began attacking people. I knocked out a few with spells and my weapons. These were not sentient constructs like androids, but essentially mindless machines, so I felt no remorse in damaging them to keep others safe."

Seems like we may each take a turn in the booth to begin the entertainment element of the mission. If so, this is Luanna's intro.

Before entering the booth, Luanna checks her appearance in a reflective surface, adjusting her hair and running a finger along each antenna to smooth out the fine blue hairs. Then she enters, takes a seat and waits for her cue.

"Hello. I am Doctor Luanna Farella, a medical doctor and a proud Starfinder. Since I was little, I've longed to do more than just admire the stars from the ground. I wanted to travel among them, witness the wonders up close and without the constraints of an atmosphere. With Eloritu's guidance and help, I've been blessed with the ability to do that.

"In addition to my medical and Starfinder credentials, I am a star shaman, which is a mystical order of interstellar adventurers. If I choose, I can exit a starship without a space suit, and move where I choose in the vacuum of space, seeing the stars, planets, nebula, and galaxies without the annoying reflection of your eyes that a standard space suit introduces. This is true freedom and, if you'll pardon the somewhat oxymoronic assertion, when I'm in the vacuum of space, I am in my element."

Luanna's blue eyes twinkle as she makes this small joke. She shakes her head a bit to move a strand of hair that is falling at the edge of one eye. Faint motes of light appear and disappear as her black hair moves.

"This mission, of course, will allow none of that, but it is almost as exciting for me to be one of the first in the Pact Worlds to view what is inside this strange construct. My place on the team is primarily as a healer, which I can do with both conventional medical treatments and my star shaman mystic spells. I have weapons and know how to use them, as well as some offensive magic, but I only use them in self defense or in defense of my allies.

"I look forward to this adventure and I hope we have a safe and successful mission. Enjoy sharing with us the thrill of exploring the unknown. May Eloritu watch over us and over you all."

Luanna takes a static arc pistol, mostly because it affords a nonlethal attack option. Besides, if one of the camera crew gets in the way, she'll have a way to motivate them to stay back.

Luanna looks over the offerings and settles on changing out her current armor for the business stationware, which offers a little stiffer resistance than her Zeizerer Diffractor suit. If there is a choice of colors, Luanna prefers darker shades with accents of blue. The suit makes her look fashionably sleek and ready for bear.

"My only connection to the entertainment industry is as a consumer," Luanna admits. "But I've learned how to get along with people and work on a team, so as long as the observers don't get in the way, I'll be okay. My first concern is for the safety of the team and second concern is the success of the mission. Any thought I can give to impressing viewers and earning fans will take a back seat to those mission imperatives."

That said, Luanna is photogenic and has had her share of admirers over her career and education.

I live in Virginia which is forecast to have both snow and ice storms this weekend. Power outages are likely, so if I don't post for a while, that's the reason.

Prior to reaching the studio, Luanna introduces herself to Ferrox as she did to the others, letting him know she is a medic and mystic and checking to see if he minds if she sometimes communicates telepathically.

Luanna smiles, amused at Zo!'s attitude and unabashed to be the center of attention, or soon to be. She points to the right side of her head and quips, "This is my good side." Her blue eyes twinkle and her powder blue antennae twitch playfully. Then she adds, "Such explorations are dangerous. Is our crew prepared to defend themselves and administer first aid if the trouble we find does not seem to know that we are the stars and they just the paid staff?"

Then she practices tossing her thick black hair from one shoulder to the other.

Dr. Luanna Farella, M.D., arrives and joins the others on the tour of the ship. She is a Damaya Lashunta, pleasant looking with long straight black hair that gives off glints like stars glittering in space, powder blue antennae, and a slender figure. Her body hugging Zeizerer diffractor armor reflects almost no light, making her medical EMT patches and a badge identifying her as a person with medical and healing skills stand out clearly. She has at the ready a medkit attached to her utility belt around back. Also prominent on her armor near her right shoulder is a patch with the holy symbol of the god Eloritu, the god of magic, history, and secrets, sometimes known as The Hidden Truth. She carries two weapons, a sword and a pistol.

Feel free to read Luanna's background spoiler on her profile, as she will gladly share that sort of information to those who are interested.

Soon after Luanna meets her fellow Starfinders, she verbally asks each if he/she/they/zir are okay with her using telepathy to communicate. She also asks each to indicate preferred pronouns and to share any important medical information she may need to know to treat them should it become necessary. She is happy to communicate such medical information telepathically and promises to keep such information private should that be the individual's wish.

Thanks. That was interesting. Luanna's background states that she joined the Starfinders to explore the vast, but so far, after 4 scenarios, she has yet to leave Absalom Station. Maybe next time.

Luanna struggles on with her sword, trying to just stay alive and hoping her fellow Starfinders can help end the fight. She's bleeding and feeling the stress.
