Lih was born into a family of illustrious academics and professionals, almost entirely composed of Damaya. The expectation was always that he, too, would mature as a Damaya and take his place among the intelligentsia of Castrovel. Despite his protestations, he was sent to the best schools where he performed decently (if not reluctantly) under the stern watch of his parents, though never to the standards set by his siblings.
In an act of teenage defiance he impulsively chose to grow up as a Korasha, a choice even he now questions. After his higher education was completed he turned his back on the family he let down in order to drift aimlessly wherever the solar winds may carry him, "wasting his potential" as his family would say. Lih prefers the company of Xenos, who have fewer expectations of how he should behave.
