Physical Description:
Leofrik is a large man, standing several inches over 6 feet tall, with shoulder length chestnut brown hair often pulled back into a loose ponytail. Quick with a laugh and quicker with a smile, Frik is approachable and friendly, but a well-worn greatsword on his back indicates that he can handle himself in a fight. He is as often mistaken as a sellsword as he is as a cleric, but he is quick to point out that there is no reason one cannot be one and the same.
Often Frik will find himself with a few too many drinks in him arguing a point of faith with an acolyte of Gorum, having the debate escalate, trading blows, and then, bloody and battered, sharing another tankard or two with said acolyte.
Never without his steel tankard or his sword, Frik is one to make his friends laugh, and someday to make his enemies tremble.
Background:
Spoiler:
Leofrik has lived in Absalom all his life. He and his "brother" were found wrapped in rags in a seedy alley in the Coins district of Absalom by an old priest of Cayden Cailean named Cadwyn Forthwind. Having a special place in his heart for orphans and lost souls, the old man took them in to raise them as his own. Cadwyn name them Leofrik and Leopold, assuming that they were brothers even though as they grew they began looking more and more different. Leofrik was dark of hair and eyes, but quick with a laugh or a smile, but Leopold had fair hair, skin, and eyes, but was prone to bouts of melancholy and was generally moody, except in dealings with his brother Leofrik.
Cadwyn instilled in the boys the values that Cayden Cailean taught, and they grew into strong young men, standing up to the bullies, cutpurses and thugs of the Coins district. Cadwyn gave each of the boys his two most prized posessions: a greataxe and a greatsword that was said were wielded by two of Cayden Cailean's closest friends when he was only a mortal. Though rarely forced to employ the beautiful weapons, the brothers always carried them as a deterrent to those thugs who were more bluster than brawn. The "brothers" learned to gang up on those stronger than they, and were always the first to stand up to injustice they saw, whether or not it meant delivering a beating. Drinking, carousing, brawling, but also healing, guiding, and helping those less fortunate...these were the tenets the "brothers" lived by.
When the boys had seen 20 summers, Cadwyn passed away leaving them for the first time totally on their own. They had grown up in the care of the church, and when Cadwyn died they offered their services to continue to grow in their faith and make a living.
Three years later, a riot unlike that which had ever been seen struck the market area. To this day, no one know the spark that set it off, but Leofrik and Leopold did their best to break up the worst of the fighting. When the melee finally died down, scores lied dead in the Coins district. During the fighting, Leofrik was separated from his brother. When the dust settled, Leopold was nowhere to be found. Leofrik spent the next two years in Absalom, working for the church and trying to find any word on where his brother ended up, as his body was not one of those found among the dead.
Near to his wits end, but maintaining his cheerful demeanor, Leofrik has decided that if he is to find his "brother," the key to his success is no longer in Absalom. The only tidbit he's picked up is that his "brother" may have been taken captive on a ship bound for Sargeva. Desperate for any news, he's decided he needs to see the world, spread the word of Cayden Cailean, and find his "brother."
