I'm going to post a possible option. I've seen the sandisk slot radio and slot players. Why not a fancy "kindle" like D&D book with multiple slots for putting all your DM and player info. use a stylus and fold or slide out keyboard to access the necessary data. Linked wireless between them. Info is locked on slot media, read only. Store game and other info on other media slot, etc. Can buy "books" on slot media. Of course this means a large upfront fee for the reader and then multiple slot purchases to get the necessary handbooks and episodal info. Buy hey, we're all rich (cough). Maybe a rental program where you can trade in slot media for new episodes. Just a thought.
(weep)- I'll miss turning physical pages, post-it notes, etc....
(lightbulb)- oops- this will have a negative economic affect on 3M (post-it), Bic (highlighters), Zebra/Pentel (pencils/pens), Mead (paper), dry erase, etc. Hm. just a thought.

Thank you for the opportunity to interact and create new worlds with our imaginations. We all need a moment of silence to contemplate a world without games to fully understand what Mr Arneson, Gary Gygax, and all the other creators and imagine'rs really contributed to our lives. God Bless, our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Saw this post and wanted to add a comment.
From a marketing point of view, ST missed the boat and should develop a mini-episode cycle encompassing this. That said, check out this:

Evidently it WAS planned but suppressed at the top level. Given that the existing fan base allowed android-humanoid relations and humanoid-alien relations, this should be a non-issue.
Just my 2cents.

I'll jump on board and roll for "Acquisition Opportunities" regarding Forgotten Realms, esp boxed versions. Or, and I'll date myself, robotech or star trek, just for old times sake.

I do have a lot of lead/leadfree (I think) painted/unpainted miniatures, if anybody is interested. I'll have to go thru my misc collection and post whatever I have and don't want in terms of books/booklets.

How does one get in touch with one regarding trade/barter/buy?

The whole "remove PDFs from sale" is the stupidest thing I've seen a company do in a long time. You are asking to be backrupted by removing revenue streams from your bottom line. (conspiracy theory)

Well. I don't play 4E. Looked into it just recently. Now, I will not play 4E. For all you creative, storytelling souls who were thinking about creating a new world, character, or other extension to official "D&D", please consider vendors OTHER than WOTC. Just think how restrictive your audience would be in the future.

Im adding my 2 bits here.
I don't play D&D all that much. I DO have quite a few books and some boxed sets. I would LOVE to get the boxed sets of Forgotten Realms, someday (sigh). I do download PDFs, but not that many of them. I find that I USE PDFs to research storylines or check data. The ease of the electronic medium is the benefit. If I had the option, I would probably purchase physical books and supplement with PDFs.

What does WOTC hope to gain?
More physical book sales? - I thought this was a green economy.
More people interested in Heroscape (conspiracy theory there)?
Should I look out for roving bands of WOTC police coming to take away my original D&D box set because I COULD scan it? (I WONT).
If I go to GENCON, are they going to confiscate everyones stuff?

Now, looking forward, if I had a kindle (or other device) and I downloaded a pdf to read or play. And I then deleted that pdf from my device to make room for another....Can I download the pdf again or do I have to PAY all over again? and again?
What about when I misplace the receipt? how do I prove ownership?

Some many questions....I'd rather be playing D&D.

I know some of these gals, and I love their voices!

is there any EASY way to get all the free songs, other than one by one?
