Lachen isn't a man who likes to be where you expect him.

So he spends most of his time reading the books with the two sages. The fact that they are women may or may not have influenced his choice.He doesn't flirt with them unless they made the first move, and seems genuinely interested in the books.

He's ready to pool his gold with the team to pay for their services. Or to pay the sages in other, more carnal ways, should they want it.
