Description:
Cloaked and hooded in dark shades of gray and brown, this contemplative frontiersman is at home in the rocky peaks and wooded hills of the country. A man of few words, he chooses them wisely. Innately, he seems careful to avoid drawing attention to himself. Indeed, even his footsteps are barely audible. Lúthion tends to take his time. But even when swiftness is needed, he rises to the challenge. Yet whether at leisure or in haste, he performs serenely as if in meditation. This mountain man is often seen smoking a long pipe, which may explain some of his calm... yet there is a stillness within Lúthion's mind that no external substance can effect.

Standing just over six feet in height, Lúthion appears healthy and strong, and moves with the grace of the legendary elven kin. Hazel eyes reveal the melancholic wisdom of ancient woodlands and timeless peaks. His complexion is fair, his dark brown beard full yet well trimmed, and his hair long and straight. A magnificently crafted hand-and-a-half sword rests in its belted sheath. Also lining his sturdy belt are a curved dagger of a brilliant metal, and the well-made hatchet of a woodsman. Across his back lies a short composite bow, akin to those of the eastern horselords. A comparable quiver rests alongside the bow. A backpack ostensibly contains unseen gear within.

Domain: Tactics.

Dragoncrafting (Ex): Lúthion is an expert not only at tracking and killing dragons, but also at using dragon bodies to craft unique equipment. He gains Dragoncrafting as a bonus feat.

Evasion (Ex):

Favored Terrains (Ex): Mountain +4, Forest +2. Lúthion gains a bonus on initiative checks and Knowledge (geography), Perception, Stealth, and Survival skill checks when he is in this terrain. He normally leaves no trail and cannot be tracked (though he may leave a trail if he so chooses) while traveling through his favored terrains. If a specific terrain falls into more than one category of favored terrain, his bonuses do not stack; he simply uses whichever bonus is higher.

Hunter's Bond (Ex): Lúthion formed a close bond with an eagle animal companion named Faer. This animal is a loyal companion that accompanies him on his adventures as appropriate for its kind. Faer shares Lúthion's favored enemy and favored terrain bonuses. This ability functions like the druid animal companion ability (which is part of the Nature Bond class feature), except that his effective druid level is equal to his ranger level – 2.

Predatory Deduction (Ex): When Lúthion successfully uses Survival to spot the trail of a creature of the dragon type, he may attempt an immediate DC 15 Knowledge (arcana) check. On success, the dragon hunter is able to deduce the species, age category, size, and color of the dragon. If the trail is less than 48 hours old, he gains a +2 circumstance bonus on the Knowledge check.

Seize the Initiative (Su): Whenever Lúthion and his allies roll for initiative, he can grant one ally within 30 ft. the ability to roll twice and take either result. This decision is made before results are revealed. He can use this ability 6 times per day (= 3 + Wisdom mod).

Spells: Lúthion has the ability to cast a small number of divine spells, which are drawn from the ranger spell list. He must choose and prepare his spells in advance. Lúthion must spend 1 hour per day in quiet meditation to regain his daily allotment of spells. He may prepare and cast any spell on the ranger spell list, provided that he can cast spells of that level, but he must choose which spells to prepare during his daily meditation. His caster level is 5 (ranger level – 3).

Swift Tracker (Ex): Lúthion can move at his normal speed while using Survival to follow tracks without taking the normal –5 penalty. He takes only a –10 penalty (instead of the normal –20) when moving at up to twice normal speed while tracking.

Track (Ex): Lúthion adds +4 (half his level, min 1) to Survival skill checks made to follow tracks.

Weapon Master (Su): As a swift action, Lúthion can gain the use of one combat feat for 8 rounds per day (= HD). These rounds do not need to be consecutive, and he can change the feat chosen each time he uses this ability. He must meet the prerequisites to use this feat.

Wild Empathy (Ex): Lúthion can improve the initial attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check to improve the attitude of a person (see Using Skills). He rolls 1d20+9 (ranger level + Charisma mod) to determine the wild empathy check result. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly.

To use wild empathy, Lúthion and the animal must be within 30 feet of one another under normal visibility conditions. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute, but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time. He can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but he takes a –4 penalty on the check.

Woodland Stride (Ex): Lúthion may move through any sort of undergrowth (such as natural thorns, briars, overgrown areas, and similar terrain) at his normal speed and without taking damage or suffering any other impairment. Thorns, briars, and overgrown areas that are enchanted or magically manipulated to impede motion, however, still affect him.

Wyrm Hatred (Ex): Dragons are Lúthion's favored enemy, granting him a +4 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks against creatures of the dragon type. He also gains +4 bonuses on weapon attack and damage rolls against them.
