You do have an amazing array of characters to choose from. It's too bad an enterprising GM (or two!) wouldn't step in and pick up the rest, because they're all good (I know, I've done this recruitment thing a number of times). I totally would want to GM any of these players. I already run three games here (in addition to an in person game here at home), so I can't add another GM slot right now.
Giving nanocytes another read through in the new book. This will be a great class that can be taken lots of directions depending on the preferences of the player. You can create a support character with some abilities to grant fast healing. You can create a tank, or you could create a melee (or possibly even ranged) striker. Your skills will be stronger than your typical soldier, and you'll be able to nearly as much a threat in a fight. This is a class I want to play, and I'm glad I jumped through the hoops the create a character (whether I'm chosen or not).
Character Name: LRXT-2112
Biography :
IT WAS ONLY two years ago that the android designated as LRXT-2112 found himself a shadow of the productive model he was immediately following his birth. As he lay on a pile of refuse in a seldom-used corridor deep within Absalom Station, he reflected on how exactly things got to this point.
Just a few months ago LRXT was gainfully employed on the massive docks where Abadarcorp freighters arrived on Absalom. He was a reliable cog in the day-to-day dance of loading and unloading the cargo that passed in and out of the station daily. His supervisors provided him with ever-increasing responsibilities, and his pay increased. LRXT found that he could move out of his shared quarters and into a small dwelling in a nice neighborhood in the Arms aboard Absalom. He also had disposable income for the first time in his short life. This disposable income set him down the path of seeking new and ever more dangerous thrills during his time off. An acquaintance, a shirren named Xyktkiiv, introduced him to hyperleaf. At first, his use of hyperleaf was purely recreational. His use of the drug was also infrequent. A new supervisor at work created new stresses, and LRXT escaped by using more and more often. This affected his performance on the docks, causing a number of incidents where safety officers had to be called in to invesstigate. Though he was given multiple opportunities to clean up his life, time and again LRXT returned to the hyperleaf and other intoxicants. Abadarcorp and LRXT parted ways after the hoverlift he was driving knocked over shelving holding several pallets of valuable Castrovelian textiles. LRXT retreated to the hyperleaf, becoming indebted for hundreds of credits to Xyktkiiv. He sold everything he owned that had value to fund his habits, and soon lost his dwelling. He became an addicted street rat, relying on charity for the occasional protein wafer. Petty theft funded his hyperleaf habit. LRXT-2112 was a robust, intimidating model, and he found it easy to simply take from others. One of his last acts of theft was pushing down a rather frail alien visitor to the station, then relieving them of their recently purchased packages. His usual fences provided him with the credits to keep Xyktkiiv from cutting him off. LRXT yearned for gentler days. He yearned for the other android companions who were birthed at the same time he was. He wanted to be the gentle soul he knew he was deep down inside. An encounter with a friendly brennari named Tarika turned out to be his saving grace. Tarika and LRXT often worked together on special quick turnarounds unloading high profile cargo vessels, and she liked his work ethic. Now that she was working for EJ Corp she could offer him a good job if he could get clean and stay that way. This was the path the android needed. Truly, this was the way forward for him. MOREOVER, he was finding that the nanites within his body were acting peculiarly, perhaps as a result of some sort of substance laced within his usual hyperleaf. Maybe this new job would include the opportunity to speak with experts and healthcare professionals to sort out exactly what this was all about... Personality:
LRXT-2112 likes to think of himself as the strong, silent type with a heart of gold. His past haunts him, so he tries his hardest to make it up to people he meets by doing what he considers to be good deeds.
When someone is getting taken advantage of, he can become forceful. This is especially true if the situation includes someone pushing intoxicants. He has become intensely loyal to the crew he works with for his new job with EJ Corp. Notes on LRXT-2112:
LRXT (pronounced "Lerxt" by his friends and coworkers) is built to be a tanky combatant. His 18 CON should keep him in a lot of fights. At second level I plan on choosing the nanocyte knack that allows use of heavy armor.
I'm uncertain what role he'll have when it comes to starship combat encounters. Perhaps chief mate fits him the best, and his first level feat will likely be skill focus in athletics to make those rolls easier. I do plan on keeping up with his skill levels in computers, engineering, and medicine. I see him as being someone who can reliably assist others on the crew with these rolls. I feel like it might be fun for a group of us to see what the new nanocyte can do. I'll try hard to demonstrate that right from the beginning. I'm excited to see what LRXT can do as he levels up. He'll also have the "cargo handler" profession. This will probably have some benefits down the road when we need to quickly load and unload our ship. About the Player!: My name is Alan, and I live in the midwest U.S. with two college age kids, a wife, and a cat named Chef Brian.
I work in community television at a busy downtown library. I do step away from the television monitors and cameras once a week to run Dungeons and Dragons for our Teens department. I recently presented a seminar at Gencon called "Leveling Up Your Library or School RPG Programming." I have been gaming since about 198COUGHCOUGH. I'm proudly of a certain vintage! Starfinder has been my jam since the books first became available. I have two home groups, one virtual and one in person. I also GM three games here on the boards. |
