Dirty Little Secrets! ...Well, not really:
Kythas isn't very good with animals despite being a ranger. In fact, he really isn't that good with ANYTHING that lives. He comes off as extremely bigoted with humans (bordering on outright nasty) and is generally standoffish with most other races. He gets along surprisingly well with most dwarfs and halflings tho... Kythas' home island, a small, remote Island about 80 miles west of the port of Ollo in the Shackles was completely overrun by slavers and pirates based in Port Peril. Looted of nearly every last valuable, (including elven slaves, almost every living exotic beast and any material object of wealth not buried deeper than 20') the island is now rumored to be the hold of a particularly venomous Slave lord who operates a small fleet off the shores. Kythas would greatly like to find at least a single survivor from his homeland aside from the few equally jaded kinsmen that took to the seafaring life he has already met. In particular, his younger brother (Jalis Sarindel) and his betrothed (Isaria Naroom). Both of whom vanished without word or trace of their whereabouts after the island fell to the human invaders almost 2 decades ago. Kythas is Left-Handed. (Like Me) Kythas worships Gozreh, the deity of his former tribe and he often mutters quick pleas or prayers to this patron. The brooch that fastens his cloak about his neck is a tribal representation of Gozreh's holy symbol in polished black teak, dyed green and blue. I deducted 10g for the symbol Kythas can cook a variety of simple tropical dishes, including a basic, but tasty, Po'e. He can also prepare most fish and seafood, usually incorporating citrus and and various peppers into his creations. (The results aren't professional enough that he could open a successful eating house, but it certainly tastes good to those who enjoy such fare.) Kythas likes to whittle bits of driftwood and branches into short, linked chains and rough likenesses of animals (dolphins, monkeys and lizards mostly) when bored. His works are certainly of no measure of craftsmanship and are usually abandoned and discarded shortly after he starts them. Kythas has several tribal tattoos that swirl about his arms, thighs, chest, back and sides of his neck. They are simple, yet elegant in their whirling, intertwining patterns of green, blue and orange. They are thin, looking more 'painted on' then traditional tattoos and were done using fine, sharpened bamboo stakes "Ouch!" These markings lend him more of an exotic appearance than a particularly fierce or barbaric one. I deducted 10g for the total cost of the tattoos
------------------------------------------------------------------------ Likes and Dislikes:
Likes: RUM! It's rather obvious that the wild elf enjoys partaking in the joys of hard drink. The Jungle. On the rare moments that he gets deep in conversation, Kythas speaks vividly and affably of his experiences in the tropical wilderness of his home. Fruits and Nuts. Kythas likes to stow loose fruit in his pockets. Usually citrus fruits, lemons and limes being a particular favorite. He is also quite fond of apples, dates, pistachios, peaches, mangoes, Mwangi nuts (Brazil nuts) and pomegranates. He can be tracked by the most novice of survivalists simply by following the spent pistachio shells. High places. The crazy elf seems to have no sense of self preservation when it comes to potentially falling from lofty heights. He can be seen leaping (and occasionally falling) from the mast lookout to the rigging at least once a day. Silence. The usually withdrawn Kythas prefers to be left to himself in solitude. Neutral: Typical Elven Pursuits. Kythas doesn't seem to enjoy the promise of uncovering new magic, lusting after unobtainable members of the opposite sex and the pursuit of basic frivolity as much as the next elf... but he isn't entirely opposed to such things either. Animals. Odd for a ranger not to want to be in the company of animals, but surely enough, the wild elf seems to regard wildlife as just "one of those things". Wine. Kythas prefers stronger drink, but will readily share a bottle of fine vintage with his mates. Dislikes: Humans! You all know this well enough already. Beer. If this is what dwarves typically drink, Kythas understands why Dantes swears off alcohol. Vile tasting spew, "Who could drink frothy yellow seawater that barely carries a punch?" Red Meat. Although the elf isn't a vegetarian, (he likes fish and fowl well enough) he refuses to eat red meat and would starve before partaking in such. Cheese. He's probably lactose intolerant, but either way cheese makes the wiry elf even more anal retentive than he already is. Noisy People! Especially noisy humans. Constant, high-volume chatter incenses Kythas to no end. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Questions~ Serpent's Skull AP:
1. Why are you on the Jenivere? The island of my tribe was completely absorbed by pirates of the Shackles after a lengthy series of skirmishes. Most of my people are dead. Those that remained either were captured and sold into slavery or escaped by other means. I joined the crew of the Jenivere after a series of mishaps with slavers, pirates, rum-runners and maritime authorities. I'm the primary lookout. (the drunken, scrawny elf in the crow's nest) 2.What is your motivation to travel to Sargava? I go where the ship goes! 3.What will your character contribute to the group? Solid Ranged damage, Decent Melee damage, High Perception and Stealth, Good Survival and other Ranger-like skills. He will be specced for fast-acting in combat (plan on taking Improved Initiative at 3rd level. +10 Initiative!).
4.What are your plans for your character mechanically? Full Ranger to the end! Picking up the Animal Companion at 4th, a Honey Badger (something to match his ferocity to size ratio) Feat tree will look like this: 1st) Weapon Finesse. 2nd) Rapid Shot. 3rd) Point-Blank Shot. 5th) Precise Shot. 6th) Many Shot. 7th) Deadly Aim. 9th) Improved Critical, Bow. 10th) Shot on the Run.
5.What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective? He hasn't thought much beyond his current situation. He would eventually like to track down possible survivors from his tribe and eventually get off this cursed ship. He would also like to visit as much hurt on the Shackles Pirates as he can. (Not all of them, but certainly the expansionist evil ones) For now he is somewhat content in his rum and where the tides take him. He doesn't much care for humanity in general and downright loathes them all when drunk, which is often enough to be of some concern. I envision him slowly growing to accept the majority of humans as decent folk, or at least he'll be able to look beyond his past and move ahead without being so angsty vs. humanity. |
