Kuikka high fives Corba in Wisdom penalties

Kuikka will try to "help" Heal. Probably aiding someone who is actually good, rather than doing it herself.

"You mentioned something about the tree being diseased? But it's not related to the seedling. I think."

What else are we expecting to do here? Kuikka isn't in much of a story mood with the doll sacrificing itself.

"We're mostly fine. This is sadly Amenira. The cloaker killed her long before we could get there."

Kuikka shrugs. "I have no preference, so I'll go with the majority."

If she's asked to make a choice, she will leave it here.

"What about the infection of the tree? Are you the same as the tree in the town? Amenira was a visitor for many months, but was not part of the town. How do you become part of the town?"

Ticking them off on her fingers, Kuikka starts in, "What is it? What is it doing here? Does it have anything to do with the disease in town or the tree? Can it help the town? Does is have anything to do with the Mana Storm?"

Kuikka watches Corba and the seedling carefully to make sure she doesn't take any harm from this discussion.

"Anyone know anything about plants?" Kuikka asks, fingering her broadsword. "I don't mind chopping things down, but I'd like to know if we should first."

She stares at it, asking to know if it is evil. (cast detect evil)

"Looks like the cloaker thing got this body, too. I'm sorry, we're here too late for you, Amenira." Kuikka spreads her cloak over the body and prays for a moment before hefting her sword again. "I feel like we're missing something. Let's get moving. We can come back for the body on our way back to the village."

Kuikka nods at Kimlo's words as she tucks the pieces of Nira back into her pack, though she still seems to be rather angry. She draws her sword once again before stepping into the hidden room.

Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6

Kuikka wipes her blade and sheathes it, sighing happily before being reminded of the doll's destruction. Pulling out an old shirt, she kneels and gently begins to gather shards of Nira.

"I'm sorry, small one. I'm sorry we couldn't keep you safe."

Kuikka growls as the doll drops in pieces. "You'll pay for that!" She draws her sword and, closing her eyes to call upon her god smite evil slashes at it.

greataxe, power attack, IC: 1d20 + 4 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 4 - 1 + 1 = 18 for slashing: 1d12 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 1 = 13 (+2 to hit and +1 damage if it's evil)

"What *is* it with things that won't come down and fight properly?" Kuikka grumbles and pulls out her sling. She drops a stone in the cup and whirls it around her head before letting it fly.

Craft alchemy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

"Where??" Kuikka asks looking around blankly. It hasn't occurred to her yet that flying things probably wouldn't be on the ground. Hooray for crappy initiative!

Ooooh, aspens are so pretty!

Not seeing anything of note, Kuikka moves forward into the cavern, as quietly as she knows how. Which is not very.

Stealth: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (14) - 3 = 11

I stopped reading when he nearly cut off his thumb and never got back to it. I need to go back and read everything again.

"There's a whole bunch of bats, but not much else. I don't think light will hurt and it will probably help all the rest of you."

I think I've practiced enough now...

Letting out a shriek as her grip fails, Kuikka reaches for the edge of the rocks.

Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

With a gigantic klonk, she arrives at the bottom. "*wheeze* Ow. *wheeze* That. *wheeze* hurt. *wheeze*"

After a moment, she rolls over and stares up at the sky, then groaning, climbs to her feet. "I think I need to work on my climbing skills." She pulls a wand out of her pouch and pokes herself gently.

Still breathing heavily, Kuikka looks around. "Anything interesting down here?"

Perception, darkvision: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16

"I think we're breaking curfew." Kuikka grins as she sheathes all the weapons and adjusts them for the climb down.

Climbing: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 3 - 4 = 0
Climbing: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 3 - 4 = 1

Great. *sigh*

"Thanks, Sheriff. I appreciate it." Kuikka tucks the wand into her belt, then swings the spear a few times before holding it out. "I have a long weapon already, so if anyone else wants this..."

She crams some food in her mouth before being ready to head out.

"We're here to help. Just point us in the right direction!"

Kuikka hands Markus back his staff and resheathes all her weapons with satisfaction.

"Why do children hide, Nira? Where do we need to go to help? What's a cloaker?"

Kuikka pokes folks with her wand as they head back to the guesthouse.

"We're sorry about that, but we didn't know what you were. Uh...who or what *are* you?

I suppose I should actually roll something, huh...

torch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21; damage 1 fire

Kuikka moves up by the bats and swings with her torch. "Go away, you stupid things. We aren't food!"

She pulls out an alchemist's fire with her other hand. "Anyone good at throwing things? My armor keeps me from anything put underhand."

Kuikka lights her torch from the one that's left.

"It's dangerous out there. Take this torch!" Kuikka hands Dwalin one of the torches on the wall and pulls out one from her pack. "I'm glad this is finally useful."

I will be away from my computer for a bit, so here's Kuikka's action. If the shadowy cloaked figure turns out to be dangerous, she will pull out her sling instead of a torch.

"Feel free to use the crowbar. I can't do that and a staff anyway." She looks up, puzzled. "Where'd the doll go?"

And the staff that Markus handed her earlier clonks off her armor as she turns around. "Right, Staff!" Better than this hunk of metal anyway...

Kuikka reaches for her sword and mutters something uncomplimentary about busybody sheriffs and stupid town rules under her breath in Orc as she remembers that she doesn't have it (or any other weapon) right now. Unslinging her pack, she rummages around for a moment before emerging with a crowbar. "This'll have to do."

Move to rummage, move to grab

YAY! Last! At this rate, I might need Improved Initiative...

@Barcher, at least we're getting both sides of the coin. One of my PbD games is having an incredibly rotten string of luck. The only person rolling over a 10 is the GM.

Kuikka kicks Kimlo in the shin, hoping to get him to stop poking at the sore spot.

Kuikka lends a pleasant demeanor to the conversation, in hopes of not drying up the flow of information.

Diplomacy aid: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 *sigh* That's twice now.

Heading back to the guesthouse because food is important.

"This place is...fascinating. I wonder how they feel about me." Kuikka checks the place food gets left and gathers up anything left for us. "What do we still need to do?"

Kuikka enters boldly because that's what paladins do. "Helllooo, Amenira? Are you here?"

"Hmmm, that's not good news for the tree or the religion."

Kuikka gives the house a once over before following Barcher inside.

"Amenira. Well, let's go see if we can figure out where she's gone. Thank you for the information!"

Kuikka nods politely and takes her leave.

"Have there been any other relative newcomers here lately? I'm sure that newcomer means anyone in the last year, not last week."

Kuikka steps forward smiling. "Greetings, Priestess Zuri. We had heard of your miraculous survival from the Mana Storm and were most interested in what had occurred here. We do not have any particular familiarity with your god and I, for one, was interested in what you could share with someone who does not share your faith."

Knowledge religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

She narrows her eyes as she looks around, casting detect evil just in case.

"My apologies, good sir. I just wondered if there was something we could do to help. Tea would be wonderful, with milk, if you have it to spare." Kuikka is trying to smooth over her gaff for all she is worth.
