"Very well, thank you," Krisaga nods to him before following the other men warily inside. Pausing in the door, she takes a moment to soak in the place and the men she accompanies.
Krisaga and Sundaymah follow Cairn, her eyes taking in all that she can of the town along the way.
To Solaric, "Thank you. I shall not have need enough to bother you during your prayers." To Cairn, "Thank you, that would be appreciated. Sundaymah is very well behaved so long as no one threatens either of us."
Krisaga addresses Solaric, "M'lord, perhaps you could point me in the direction of an inn that would be the most accommodating to Sundaymah's presence. I will see what I can do to aid the people in town before retiring for the night."
"I doubt he was bluffing, I'm sure he was terrified enough to answer as truthfully as he could. I believe that to the best of his understanding, they cannot be bested by humans. I'm sure he meant to include other races of similar ability as well. He is a simple minded being."
Krisaga is confused by the one called Johenric's behavior, she looks at him oddly, her head slightly tilted to the side, but says nothing.
Krisaga calls the hulking tigress back to her side and runs her fingers through the thick fur on the beasts head and face. Krisaga motions to Victoria as she speaks once more to the goblin.
Goblin: "Get up, stay near to her and do as she says."
"He says that there are no weaknesses. I think he might end up fainting if this lasts much longer. Any other questions?"
"It is done," is all the response she gives the matter. Whether it is to him, Victoria, or both she doesn't make clear.
Krisaga says just loud enough for Solaric near her to hear, "My apologies, my lord. I believe that was my fault. I so detest being called a half-breed."
Krisaga grins, never taking her eyes from the goblin.
Goblin: "Don't worry about the loud mouthed human, his horse does my bidding. Please, continue."
DMZZ: Upon hearing herself be called a half-breed, Krisaga's face grows grim and dark. She reaches out to the rider's horse with her spirit and mind, casting Dominate Animal she commands the horse to buck.
Krisaga makes a clicking noise with her tongue and Sundaymah growls in the goblin's face.
Goblin: "Don't allow the newcomer to distract you. Answer the questions. What weaknesses do these three have? Are there any magics or weapons that work best against them?"
Confused by the compliment, but further so by the fact that apparently the Countess can speak Goblin herself but was letting them question the goblin in Common, Krisaga raises an eyebrow, "Thank you?" She holds her questions on the matter for a later time.
Krisaga smiles, "Then perhaps it is good I came when I did."
"Krisaga. Not Krishna. You can call me Kris if that is easier." She turns back to the goblin.
Goblin: "What weaknesses have these brothers? What magic or weapon hurts them the most?"
"He says the brothers are Gjöldur and Mjöldur. Mjöldur is a shaman commanding the powers of the northern wastes. Gjöldur is a master of trickery and deceit. It is said he can become invisible at will. Mjöldur commands ice trolls, and Gjöldur the goblins. He warns that both cannot be bested by humans, and so you should flee while there is time." Krisaga reports the new information to Solaric, since he seems to be in charge of the captive, but looks around at all of the others present after giving her translation.
Krisaga looks at Victoria and makes a sound that sounds somewhat like a guttural harrumph before returning her gaze to the goblin.
Krisaga bobs her head at Solaric's praise and next set of questions before speaking to the goblin again. Goblin: "Where are Bjöldur's brothers? What are the names of their regiments? What's special about the brothers, what weapons and magic do they use?"
After translating what she's learned, Krisaga waits for more questions.
Krisaga leans squats and speaks quietly into Sundaymah's ear while indicating the goblin now on her level. The tigress roars and approaches the goblin, stopping a mere foot from him. The slightest movement at all from the goblin provokes a growl from Sundaymah. Krisaga stands back up and speaks to the goblin in his own tongue. Goblin:
"Sundaymah is getting hungry. I would not push your limits with her today. You will answer every question asked of you, or you become her dinner. Do you understand?"
"What answers do you seek?" she asks looking back to Solaric.
She accepts Solaric's hand. "A pleasure, M'lord. Place him on the ground, please?"
"That depends. What has he done, what are you trying to learn from him, and how cooperative is he being? I have found that Sundaymah is quite capable of convincing people to cooperate."
Krisaga looks between the two to have addressed her, "I am Krisaga. This is Sundaymah. I go where the winds lead me. If Karcau is still in danger, be it from plague or attack, then Karcau is where I will go." She looks again at the coffins, distaste clear on her face at the mention of vampires. She closes the distance between herself and the group. She looks at the goblin again and then says, "I speak his language. If he is unable to communicate their plans to you efficiently, I am sure that Sundaymah and I can learn what you need to know."
When Krisaga gets near enough to see several coffins in the wagon, she moves a little swifter. When she gets within speaking range, she says, "Have you come from Karcau to bury your dead? If any of you are suffering from the illness that is plaguing that place, maybe I can help." She stops and cocks her head to the side, suddenly uncertain of the situation when she sees a goblin thrown over a horse like a prisoner. She stops 20 feet or so away and studies the group while continuing to stroke her tigress' fur.
Krisaga wanders along down the road headed to Karcau. Talk of an awful plague reached her ears many days back, and feeling that Karcau was as good of a direction to go as any other, she decided to see if she could help the people. Upon seeing a stopped wagon with several people gathered around, Krisaga approaches with caution. They could be people ill with the plague and needing her help but they could also be robbers or something far worse. She reaches down with her left hand and strokes Sundaymah's fur.
OK, I found the tricks on d20pfsrd.com and adjusted the numbers of attacks etc. to include all modifiers. I did a bit of reorganizing as well. How does it look now? So, is HoL leveling to 9? Should I change my sheet to 9?
OK, I think I've got her finished up. Submitting Krisaga for DMZZ's approval for the HoL campaign. A quick question: Since she's starting at level 8, how would I go about getting her animal companion more tricks to cover for the time she would have spent training her between levels 1 and 8?
Could someone who is familiar with animal companions possibly take a look at mine for me to make sure I did it all right? I'd appreciate it. I'm going to be working on her appearance and background here shortly. |
