I've got a friend who is convinced it's the announcement of Starfinder 2e.
It hasn't been around long enough for a second edition or have I time jumped a few years?

We'll be using a homebrew world that has barely been explored so the DM and players can all explore and learn of it's dangers at the same time. lot's of fun to look forward to.

We've been running a 5e homebrew world through Discord for just over five years now with around 80 active members. We are keeping that as our main focus but starting a side project for PF2. The only thing slowing us down in making that world is making our own gods. Even then, once we get into the flow of things, it runs smoother and fast.
Sure, there are some spells that will need to be tweaked once the core book comes out and that is one reason we aren't pushing hard to finish the world right this minute.
The one difference between the two worlds is, in the PF2 world, most of the world is unknown. The characters will need to explore to learn anything of the area. It is fun coming up with the areas the characters will visit and writing up the lore on the wiki just after. This will leave a lot of leeway and the players will help build the world in ways they never dreamed of.

9 people marked this as a favorite.

Actually, D&D really was forked from the wargame of miniatures. The original game was called Chainmail.

Fair enough

Last night, my players decided to head off looking for the cave they were told about. For some reason, they ignored the NPCs trying to help them and didn't want directions.
I let them fail.
Eventually they went back to town and asked for directions. At that point, I did a fail forward by asking for a check to see how fast they were able to follow the directions. If I hadn't let them make just the one check, they wouldn't have gotten anything done on that bounty.

This, to me, is a perfectly viable example on how to use fail forward. If you think this was wrong in my judgement, please let me know how you feel that way.

Short ritual and a repair kit, I think it was.
