Kolret charges the nearest skeleton with his short sword in hand. He slashes down at it, aiming for the shoulder.

During the charge he tripped over a loose stone in the floor, tweaking his ankle. He slashed wildly as a result, nearly careening headfirst into the skeleton.

After donning his armor, Kolret moves to the rest of the group. What's happened here? He gestures at the horses. As he sees Fundir moving towards the horse, he moves to assist.

Kolret climbs down the rope surprisingly easily for his large size. While everyone else is investigating the entrance, he dons his armor.

Kolret shakes his head as he snaps out of his bloodlust. What the hell was that!? Something about children you say? He walks back to the group and checks to see if everyone is alright.

Kolret blocks the javelin thrust with his shield. The javelin glances off the shield in such a way that it leaves the orc open. Seeing an opportunity, Kolret drops low and thrusts his spear upwards into the orcs chest.

Kolret grins a toothy grin, as he moves towards the nearest orc. He positions himself between the group of orcs and the rest of his group. Shield raised, he thrusts his shortspear at the orc's midsection.

"No." he growls, lifting his shield into a defensive position and readying his shortspear.

I'll take front. I'd rather have my source of healing behind my shield than in front of it. Kolret shifts his shield from his back down onto his arm.

I can provide a bonus to an adjacent ally once a day with my shield. Not great now, but it gets better later.

"I am from a small town but lived most of my life in the city. Not a very nice part either. My mother and I ran into more troubles in my hometown than the city though." he says, seemingly remembering some event from his past.

I am willing to take point if need be, but I don't want the lantern. It is a problem for my vision.

"I'm big and stick out in places like that. I can fit in better in the city. Not so many eyes on me there. Tombs may be ancient and scary, but at least I can adequately defend myself in those kinds of places. You never know the motivations of people." He takes the fragments from Camred and Flyn and begins arranging them. "Bring that lantern over here, so we can see better. And everyone put your map fragments together."

Kolret thanks the mayor for the supplies and begins following Margat. He was ready to leave this town well behind him. Once the town and its people were out of earshot, he sighed with relief. "I am glad to be out of there. Small towns always make me uncomfortable... now where is this tomb?" He pulls out the piece of map the mayor gave him and begins studying it.

Kolret stands about a head taller than most of the rest of the crowd he is in the midst of. He shifts the large shield on his back into a more comfortable position. Small towns like these made him uncomfortable. He feels as though he sticks out more, and his orc heritage was a bit of a sore spot for him...

The crowd grows somewhat larger as the mayor is finishing his speech. Sounds like there is some coin to gain from this tomb, and my pouch is looking low... He slams the butt of the long spear in his hand into the cobblestone. I will go! He says in a deep, booming voice over the noise of the crowd; as he begins shouldering through the mass of people.

Sorry for being late. I work weekends, and didn't realize we had already started!

I think your eloquent talk paired with the fact that you ran your own empire may draw Kolret in at first. After seeing your methods in action, I may become wary of you. The life of luxury is pretty adverse to Kolret's ruling style, and don't expect me to surrender just because of a few silver lined words! Haha, I would like to know more about how much we remember about our old lives, and how much of each other's were known.

I am also a forum newbie. I found the best way was to copy the general flow of someone elses and tweak it a bit to my liking. Feel free to use mine, just click on my character picture. My whole statblock is in the about section of my profile. As far as building an online character sheet, I found that myth weavers works pretty well. After writing all this up, I am even more excited about this character and campaign!

Backstory:

My mother always said a sign of a great leader was to die in bed peacefully

Kolret's human mother the sole survivor of a brutal orc raid in the Northlands which left her village destroyed and friends and family murdered. She migrated to Minethua to live with family and give birth to her new son, a result of the raid. Kolret grew up in a loving home, but the other kids in the city were less accepting. Seeing Kolret as an abomination worth conquering, he spent most of his days defending himself and smashing faces for insulting his mother.

These skills quickly developed, and after coming of age Kolret joined the infantry of Minethua. His prowess in battle was unmatched, and he quickly rose through the ranks eventually commanding his own unit. Much to his pride this unit became the first specialized phalanx unit in the Minethua infantry. This style of fighting allowed Kolret to win just about every campaign he started. It was during these campaigns that he found the Golden Bulwark of Arqueros, a legendary golden shield from the heavens. After 15 years of warring in foreign lands, Kolret finally came home to a hero's welcome. The celebrations were great but shortlived.

Kolret began seeing the utter corruption he had spilt blood for and lost friends for and became dismayed. The officials that should have been working for the people were oppressing and using them. The king lived a lavish life while spitting upon the common people. This disgusted Kolreth, and other generals were starting to take notice of the corruption as well. They banded together, with Kolret at their head, and began a military coup.

The fighting was bloody and resulted in the kidnapping and murder of Kolret's mother, but they prevailed. With Kolret the new king of Minethua(Fighter 10/Stalwart Defender 10/Guardian 10), he began to fix corruption in the city. He also set his sights to unifying the continent he had just spent 15 years warring in. His reputation allowed for many diplomatic annexations, while his sheer military might and cunning allowed him to conquer the rest. The small continent of Thavryn Tolle was finally at relative peace. His reign lasted well into his 70s, and he died peacefully in his bed of old age.

His time in the military resulted in a discplined and rather stoic demeanor. Jovial and good natured most of the time, Kolret falls into a deadly focus whenever combat pops its head up. While laws never completely suited his ruling style, he tended to lean away from chaotic behavior. Defending his allies (just as with his people and their liberties) is his number one priority, often with little regard for his own safety.

My god what has happened!? Kolret felt as if he had just woken up from a long sleep. His last memories are of him slipping into darkness from his soft bed. By Asqueros! What has happened to me!. He looks down at his hands. The wrinkles, cracks, and scars on his leathery hands seem to have disappeared. He grabs at the old scar at his shoulder from that damned ogre's spear. Nothing... that spear destroyed my spearshoulder. And it's gone! I feel brand new! Just as he was wondering about this, he walked through the door. The memories of these scars seeming to fade into the abyss, as the vigor of youth coursed back through Kolret's body and his mother's words floated through his mind.

This is Kolret the half-orc Phalanx Soldier Fighter. Kolret grew up a poor bastard in the Industrial Quarter of Axiom around where the smiths forge their iron. Kolret's mother wanted him to be an apprentice to the smiths, but most of his childhood he spent using sticks to spar with the other children instead. He would watch as the city guards came in to pick up their beautifully forged steel in their elegant clothes and armor. Oh how he longed for a life like that! As he aged, his prowess sharpened. When he turned 18 he applied for the city guard and was accepted into the training program. After training for about a year, Kolret was let go under somewhat unknown circumstances. This crushed his childhood dream, and he decided to prove to himself he was worth becoming a guard. He cast his lot in with this mysterious caravan of newcomers to Axiom hoping to act as protection to get out of this town and away from his shame.

Kolret is usually good natured and is inherently good. He has a slightly subdued nature; and like many that are drawn to being guards, he usually speaks only when spoken to. While his temper can bubble to the surface, he can usually keep it in check. He may snub the law in some regards (probably why he didn't make it long trting to be a guard) but is usually interested in doing the right thing. His competetive nature seems to work against him at times, but it has driven his martial proficiency.
