Radiant Oath

Do we have any idea when an audiobook that's not on Audible dot com will be available?

I'm assuming there's some sort of Audible exclusivity period. That's often how they roll.

Mine arrived today, and my knee jerk reaction is that I’m fairly disappointed in this boxed set.

First, why is this box anywhere even remotely as thick as it is? The game components take up less than 1/4 the thickness of the box. The rest of the space in the box is just a cardboard filler whose sole purpose is to take up space in the box. As someone with dwindling shelf space, I really have to wonder why it was felt necessary to use such a large box.
...

The box size was talked about in an interview, and it's basically about store shelf presentation, if it's too small, many store won't even want to stock it cause people will miss it. They were saying that even AP books are sometimes ignored by certain stores. So they came up with that boxed set to try and see if it will work better.

The tokens were also specifically mentioned as a test, to see how they would be received. So I guess your feedback on them will be very welcome.

In addition to what Elfteiroh said, in an unboxing video that just went up earlier today, the team pointed out that another reason the box is that size is so you can fit Player Core into it. Since it's not a Beginner Box, you'd need the rules. So, the MiMC box was designed to let you have ONE package to bring somewhere and Get Your Starfinder 2e On.

Wooo! My local lodge is running Collision's Wake the weekend after GenCon, so now I've got the pregens I'll need!

Radiant Oath

What IS the weapon Ulka is carrying? Is it just a stylized glaive, or something more orc-specific?

Just announced! Expected to release this October.

I've never played Warframe, but a guy in one of my online groups was like "WTF?!?"

Also: that stream with the Starfriends PLAYING Warframe makes MUCH more sense now.

This makes me feel too old and out of touch for contemporary Pathfinder, and that makes me sad.

Individuality and identity just aren't a big focus in my life at this point, but is typically the focal point of many of these characters' stories.

They're well written and seem to resonate really strongly with the other folks in the comments. I just can't see almost anything of myself in them.

There's no need to feel old or out of touch or sad. One thing I've learned is that everything isn't "for" me or "meant to speak fully" to me. Or, to everyone. Some things speak more fully to a more specific audience.

If you've been able to "see yourself" in all these prior Pathfinder works, fantastic! You KNOW you're welcome here.

Now, people who couldn't see almost anything of themselves in the earlier works have something that DOES let them see themselves. And they'll know for sure that they are welcome too. Feel free to welcome and embrace our new friends!

Is it possible that there will ever be Sketch Cover PDFs available? For those of us who love the sketch covers, but also enjoy digital content.

Or is that ONLY me?

Hey folks—

I just wanted to follow up on Erik's comment and let you know the state of the Pathfinder Tales line.

Going forward, we will no longer be partnering with Tor for the Pathfinder Tales novels—Gears of Faith is the last one we'll be releasing through them. We're currently in talks with other publishers to see who would be the best fit for the line, and things like format and schedule are also up for review as part of that. I'm confident that the line will continue, and I'm really excited about some of the possibilities we're discussing, but for right now there's going to be a bit of a gap as we transition. As Erik said, thanks for being patient, and stay tuned!

I've only started reading the PF Tales novels (and playing Pathfinder) recently, since the whole OGL thing.

I've now finished ALL the available novel audiobooks. I've only got Through The Gate In The Sea (which I found a physical copy of) and Gears of Faith (which I'll get the new epub of from Paizo) left as far as novels. Still a few of the novellas and short fiction I've found the audiobook versions of to go. Then I'll finish the rest of it via epub and web fiction as I can.

I've never played PF1e (my group stayed with 4e back in the dahy), and now with PF2Re, I doubt I ever will. But if I EVER do, it'll be 100% because of the great PF Tales series of novels. And know for SURE I'm not the only one who loved them.

At last year's PaizoCon @ FLGS, I met the Venture Captain for NoVA/DC at their event. He told me he had a character inspired by Salim Ghadafar. About 2 weeks ago (the Saturday before PaizoCon), I was in Pittsburgh and played a PF2e game with him where he was playing that character.

Also, you mentioned "there's going to be a bit of a gap as we transition". So, I'm proposing we call the time between Gears of Faith and Godsrain "The Literary Gap".

Thanks to Paizo for all the great content, past, present, and future!

There is no other information available for this unfortunately. However, as the outcome of this chase is COMPLETELY irrelevant to the rest of the scenario, I’d say start them wherever you like.

Also, be aware that the starting NPCs for encounter A2 in the scenario body do not match what’s in the appendix. The body lists 3 Ulfen Bodyguards at low tier and 2 Ulfen Captains at high tier, while the appendix leaves the number off, implying just 1 of each. The numbers in the body work out to a severe encounter, which matches the stated encounter difficulty. The fact that the PCs will almost certainly have some assistance from other NPCs in that encounter is meant to balance it out I think.

Thanks SO MUCH for this comment. I'm running this tomorrow and it seemed REALLY weird. But I'm better prepared to run it now.

Radiant Oath

The Pathfinder wiki says this scenario is “All Ages”, but that tag/type isn’t show here. And I know that wiki isn’t The Offical Source. So, two questions:

  • Is this scenario part of the “All Ages” group?
  • Are the any “All Ages” scenarios or is that only for Quests?

This is my first time participating in PaizoCon Online. I went to a @FLGS event last year and had a great time!

You can keep up with signup information in our Events Discord Server! Hopefully that helps!

It DID Maya, thanks! I've added the sign-up date to my calendar! I'm READY!!

As a fan of the Sketch Covers, but also PDFs (because books are heavy) I wonder: will there ever be Sketch Cover PDFs?

I just saw the news that the author passed away.

This was the only Pathfinder book of his I hadn't read, since I couldn't find an audiobook. I just ordered a used copy, since I couldn't find an ebook available anywhere.

RIP Howard Andrew Jones. Long live Mirian Rass, Jekka, Elyana Sadrastis, and Drelm.

Thanks for the kind words, folks.

I was very impressed by the Mwangi game product. Lots of great story hooks there, and Nantambu struck me as an interesting culture, well worth revisiting.

As for Bonali, I'd prefer to think that he eventually repaid Jamang in his own coin. :)

I finally got around to reading this, AFTER starting "Winter Witch". I'd only finished Chapter 2, "The Necromancer's Familiar", but that gave me ALL the context I needed to enjoy THIS work.

I'm looking forward to the rest of your novel. And I hope Godsrain is successful enough to get the Pathfinder Tales line re-started in earnest.

Radiant Oath

This is a VERY late response (I just started Pathfinder-ing after the OGL debacle), but I LOVE the idea of pulling the fiction chapters from the AP PDFs.

I just started reading the Pathfinder Tales novels earlier this year and LOVE them. But I had the same question as the OP.

Itchy wrote:

It has not been published as a Short Fiction ePub yet. James Sutter has said that they are working on getting new short fiction ePubs up, but it is not a priority. Essentially, I suspect that they are not a great seller. After all, why pay for a story that you can read for free?

I also am waiting for them to get the AP fiction novella ePubs up. I always buy and read them. It's just easier than trying to read them in the AP itself. It's that whole, "carrying around physical books" thing.

Another option for you (if you own the pdf's of the AP) would be to pull the fiction chapters from your "Chapters" pdf, drop them into you eReader's pdf reading program (I use Goodreader) and read them as a unit that way.

I got to play an Envoy and a Mystic at Owlcon this year since Thurston was there running the SF2e Demo. They were BOTH great! Those were LITERALLY my first 2 games of Starfinder ever. I'm looking forward to the playtest rulebook.
