Appraise on the Rod: (1d20+11=28) Utilizing detect magic, I give the rod a closer look, trying to analyze the weaves of magic around it to discern its function. That roll should be good for an item with up to CL 13 creation requirement.

I wait politely for a moment, willing to allow others their moment of fun, but when the silence seems to grow a little long, I harrumph my throat clear, stand and intone, "Somewhere the hammer fell... Somewhere thunder crashed... Somehere the anvil lay broken! Now was the moment of fate. Now was the moment of truth. The future hung uncertainly in the balance and gods themselves watched with bated breath. Feeling the weighty eyes of countless generations upon him, the valiant dwarf stepped over the threshhold and entered the room."

Rather than breaking up Tarren's 'boast' I thought I would move the treasure dividing discussion to this thread. We have:
Tarren suggested 75 gp worth of gems each with the remainder going into a kitty. I'm fine with that if everyone else is. Yintarah or myself could take the wands. A cleric would gain the most from the cloaks. I wouldn't mind keeping the coin to find out more about it. Some roguish fellow might like the potion. Any other thoughts on how to split it. Feel free to state what you would prefer and we can go from there.

Reinvigorated by the positive energy, I take one of the rings taken from the orcs and examine it closely. Casting Detect magic, I search the auras of the ring to try and determine if it has any other properties besides featherfalling. "These rings were requirin' a bit o' resources for them ta be makin' so many," I comment to Lord Kerrigan, "Someone was after wantin' yer keep very badly. Wit' the money they spent on the rings they coulda been buildin' their own fort." "Was there anything else on their bodies?" I ask and go to examine Sarpis, casting Detect Magic when I am near the body (waiting if necessary for someone to bring it further down). I will keep one of the rings for myself if nobody minds.

I answer the Lord of the Keep, "Aye, that was Sarpis. He fled from the Spires a while back when we were after discoverin' his evil nature. I'm glad ta be 'elpin' a neighbor as it were. Are there more o' these orcs around do ye think? Or was this their main host. N' I'm wonderin' iffin Sarpis was the ringleader o' this assault or merely a Captain inna larger army."

Flaming Sphere Damage: (2d6=6) I make sure to keep the flaming sphere on Sarpis this round and then with a word and a gesture, I send three bolts of arcane force towards the other magic user, hoping his protection may be gone.

Having lost the element of surprise without even the benefit of having struck my foe, I gather together the arcane energies required for making fire and condensing them into my bonded warhammer, I hurl the bead of energy at the group of orcs below, aiming particularly at the man leading them. i.e. I cast Fireball using my bonded item.

"Let me be softenin' them up," I say as others gather at the cliffs. I begin with a scorching ray, aimed at Sarpis, with the intention of following this with a well placed, hammer powered, fireball. Uttering a few choice arcane words, I point the tip of my hammer towards my foe. Scorching Ray (touch): (1d20+3=8)
Or at least towards the vicinity of my foe.

Warhammer attack (Bull strength)(flanking): (1d20+7+2+2=15)
My attack on the orc that connected with me has more energy than skill behind it.

Not knowing where the orcs are exactly on the grid, I'll let the DM position my fireball for maximum casualties without hitting any of my own lads. Though doesn't the fireball hit before they get close, seeing as how I'm a few seconds ahead of them and the affect is pretty instantaneous?

I'll position myself on the map within fireball range. "Lass, ye be burnin' the catapult," I say to the fireweaver. "I'll handle the urk's workin' it." And then I proceed to cast a fireball, aiming it at the group of seven (but if possible, hitting both them and the group of three loading). Initiative: (1d20+1=14)
"Torag take ye!" I yell as the fireball detonates with a whoosh.
