Hmm... Okay soooo I'm a biologist and I am just now reading the pilgrim druid archetype.

They must select plants for their domain.

Fungus are not closely related to plants.

They are more related to animals than to plants.

My apologies for misrepresenting fungus. But I am not a biologist, and most if not all fungal creatures in pathfinder are of the plant type, so that's what I went with.
No offense intended. Just pointing something out. =)

Next you'll start spoutting nonsense about matter being composed of more than four basic elements!

Note that members of a number of divine classes get access to flame blade if they worship Sarenrae - see page 139 of Inner Sea Gods.

That said, it's definitely a rare spell. One of my favorites, though. ^_^

Interesting. I had looked through ISG, but missed that sidebar entirely. I learned a thing today!

Thanks.

So far, I have really been enjoying this Player Companion installment, but I wanted to check something with your collective wisdom:

The Flame Blade Dervish seems like it is only applicable to a very narrow set of classes (and one prestige class), as far as I can tell. Is that correct?

If so, I had never before noticed how tightly restricted the flame blade spell really is.

Awesome!
Looks like I'll have to set aside some extra time to hang out and have fun at TotalCon this year.

Congratulations, Ray!

It's well deserved!

Form filed, and confirmation received!

This is far from my first GenCon, but it will be my first time GM'ing at GenCon. I'm looking forward to it!

Now I just need to get all my prep done for the local convention season, starting up next month. ;-)

Sorry to repeat myself, but:
Can anybody shed light on how Spear dancing works with magic weapons? As written, it is a bit unclear whether the off-hand attack made with the weapon's had would count as magical. It is also unclear whether you could enchant the haft of a polearm to gain those bonuses. Can you build a polearm as a double weapon? (and do you have to?)

There is a lot of useful information here, but I am interested in trying out a spear dancing character, which makes this question high on my list.

Thanks!

Doing the ranged styles since I did the melee.

Missed one melee style:
Spear Dancing style lets you treat any spear or polearm as a double weapon, with off-hand a light mace, losing reach and brace. Next feat lets you finesse it, and treat it as a quarterstaff for feats and abilities. Last feat gives you back reach as a swift action.

I apologize if I missed the answer to this earlier in the thread, but how does this interact with a magic weapon?

Normally, one must separately enchant both ends of a double weapon. Is this an exception?

If not, does the off-hand end always count as a nonmagical mace, or can you enchant the stick end as a weapon in its own right? You cannot normally enchant the haft of a polearm.

Does this mean you need to purchase your polearm with a masterwork haft to add magic bonuses?

Thanks!

Thank you sir!

Congratulations, Linda! I can't wait to see your work.

Also, Linda, what's that in the background of your photo?

It looks somehow extravagantly funereal.

You are correct. It's the Taj Mahal.

Hard to get much more "extravagantly funereal" than that. ;)

Would a wayfinder qualify as a compass implement?

It seems like a perfect fit as a historic object, but my quick search did not turn up an answer.

Equipment: Equip yourself with whichever +1 light or medium armor (+1 bracers OK) you wish, (no special materials). Arm yourself with a +1 weapon if you wish or give one natural attack a +1 magical bonus. Additionally you may bring in a potion of a first level spell. If your class level is 5, you may bring in two 1st level potions, if your class level is 4 you may bring three 1st level potions. Two first level scrolls can be traded for one (and only one) potion. Potions will also be granted to winners of each dual.
I got that backward: 6 class levels get three potions, 4 class levels get one.

If a monster's bestiary entry includes a piece of equipment, does it retain that item in addition to the stuff you listed above?

I'm looking forward to the event. It's my first bash, and first PaizoCon too!

Congratulations, Mark!
We'll miss you around the Boston Lodge, but it'll also be exciting to see the new toys you produce.

So on a whim I decided to attend this years con and I'm arriving a few days early because I want to check out the Seattle area. Oh and I'm coming out solo as well, will try to meet up with a few friends I know in the area.

I assume I will need to rent a car to get to the city or any other sight seeing type places.

I'm looking for advice on what to expect from the Con and how it works etc. When I went to BGG Con last year for the first time I missed a lot of things simply because I was not aware of them.

I'm also looking for advice on the area, what to see etc.

Thanks in advance for any input.

That's funny. Your situation and plan sound almost exactly like mine. :)

I have some time off around PaizoCon this year, and thought I might check it out. Some of the local PFS players from my local area will be out there too.

I'd love to know if there are any "must try" elements to the con.
