picked up a pet lizard, whom he named Larry, in Absalom as a way to lessen the homesickness he was feeling and give him an escape from the often overwhelming sights and sounds of being in the middle of civilization.

Kintargo was born into a small group of tengus who were slaughtered right his birth by a rival nomadic group. He was still so new to the world, he hadn't even been named yet. Unusually small, he was overlooked and left to fend for himself in the inhospitable environs of the Mwangi Jungle. Despite the conditions, Kintargo survived and even flourished in his native jungles, eschewing civilization and companionship for the relative safety and security of facing the wild with only the help of the spirits inhabiting his home.

One day while hunting near the edge of the jungle, he was attacked by wild beasts and would have died except for the kindness of some Pathfinders who happened to wander by. When asked for his name, he was unable to answer, having had no need for such a thing in his life up to that point, so the explorers named him after the hometown of the expeditions leader, Kintargo, Cheliax. Though not particularly social, he felt indebted to them for their aid, and aided them for the rest of their expedition, and, though heavily reluctant to leave his home, agreed to go with back to Absalom to share his knowledge of the jungles with the Pathfinder Society archivists.

From there, he went to Kintargo on the understanding that from there, he would be able to get help to return to his home jungles. True to his word, the leader was able to secure a job for Kintargo on a boat that was passing through that town on it's way to Sargava. The time at sea has not been entirely unpleasant, as the work is not overly difficult, and the rest of the crew seem to be more tolerable than most of the
people he saw in both Absalom and Cheliax. Still, as they approach Eleder, he gets more and more eager to be back home in the jungle, away from the dreary horizons and tight quarters of the ship.

Standing the crowded docks, the smallish tengu, named Kintargo by the Pathfinders who had brought him out of his native Mwangi jungle, could not help but feel a bit nervous as the ship captain stared him down holding his few belongings as masses of people and crates swirled around this one small space where he was being considered for a job onboard the Jenivere. Although not regretful of his decision to join the Pathfinders on their journey back to Absalom, he was beginning to get tired of the constant drain that civilization seemed to have on anything and anybody it touched, and was hopeful that this ship could take him home. After what felt like a lifetime, though it was really only about a minute, the captain finished his silent appraisal before barking an order, "Stow your stuff below deck and see the first mate for further instructions," and turning to other business. Kintargo complied quickly, hopeful that soon he would be back home in the familiar shadows and glens of his native jungle.
