About Reptilian GM

House rules for RotRL pbp:
Spontaneously modifying a spell by way of a metamagic feat or a class feature doesn’t augment the casting time (for example, a druid's spontaneous summons don’t take 2 rounds to cast).

You can only have the +2 at level one 'good' save bonus once for each save. If multiclassing would give you this bonus twice, use the good save bonus progression the prestige classes get instead (+1 for lvl 1 and 2, +2 for lvl 3 and 4, etc).

Group Initiative
To try to prevent combat from bogging the game down, we’ll use a special kind of group initiative for this game. I’ll roll 1d20 for the enemies and 1d20 for the players and I’ll add the average initiative bonus of the groups (I won’t ‘auto-round down’ in this case). The group with the highest score gets to act first.

When it’s the players’ turn, their characters act in the order of the players’ posts (please try to do it as soon as possible). You can ready an action as standard action to act during the enemies’ turn. If nothing triggers your action, you essentially lose your turn. You can also post in advance and announce that you don’t act until player character x has acted. There's no initiative consequences to delaying or readying an action.

After a reasonable period of time (2-3 days I think, but I may adjust this depending on how things go), I’ll post the enemies’ actions (they act in whatever order I decide) and it will once again be your turn to post actions. If you haven’t posted in time, your character is either assumed to continue what he was doing or, failing that, have delayed until the next turn. If that would make your character ‘auto-delay’ for two rounds in a row, I’ll npc his actions using my best judgment.

Reserve points
All player characters get a ‘reserve’ of hit points equal to half their maximum hp. After taking a short rest (2 to 10 mins, depending on the situation), you can spend any number of these ‘reserve points’ to regain the same amount of hp.

You only heal naturally 1 hp/HD for a full day of rest but regain all your reserve points after resting for 8 hours.

Long term care (with the Heal skill) gives you 1 hp/HD for 8 hours or 3 hp/HD for a full day of rest.

Once per day as a full round action, you can draw on your reserves in combat and spend up to your con bonus (minimum 1) multiplied by your hit dices in reserve points to regain same amount of hit points.
You can’t regain or use any reserve points while disabled, dying or otherwise at or below 0 hp.

You cannot spend more reserve points then you currently possess and those cannot bring your current hp total above its maximum value.
Temporary hit points and short term constitution boosts don’t change the amount of reserve point you possess (it can change the amount you can spend in combat however).

Example: A lvl 4 Barbarian with a constitution of 14 (+2) and 39 hp has 19 reserve points (rp). After a short skirmish with some goblins, she was slightly wounded and lost 12 hp. While resting after the combat, her cleric ally channels energy and heals 8 of these hp. She personally uses 4 rp to bring her hp total back to the maximum and has now 15 rp left. Later on, her group encounters the hobgoblin warlord leading the goblins. She rages (bringing her hp total to 47 but not changing her rp total) but gets badly wounded during the combat. With her hp total down to 7 and many foes still standing, she decides to draw on her reserves. Her augmented constitution bonus is +4 and her level 4, so she can spend up to 16 rp to heal with a full-round action. Since she only has 15 rp left, however, that’s all she can regain. Ignoring the pain of her wounds, she jumps back into the fray the next round, with 22 hp and no rp left.

Note: Animal companions, familiars and such don’t have any reserve points.

NPC Guide:
NPC guide
Ameiko Kaijitsu: Proprietor of the Rusty Dragon Inn. A former adventurer, her family is from distant Tian Xia. She’s popular amongst both the residents and visitors of Sandpoint because of her generous attitude and the exotic food her inn provides. She was kept prisoner at her father's business by her brother Tsuto and some goblins on the night between the 2nd and the 3rd of Rova. The group liberated her and brought her back to her inn.

Bethana Corvin: An aged halfling woman, Bethana has worked with Ameiko ever since the young adventurer came back to her hometown and bought the Rusty Dragon. She seems extremely loyal to her mistress, almost to a fault. She's the one who appealed to the party for help when Ameiko disappeared.

Tsuto Kaijitsu: A half-elf, bastard brother of Ameiko. He's apparently at least partly responsible for the goblin raid on the day of the Swallowtail Festival. His motives are unclear but the group knows he had an unhappy childhood. He was rejected Lonjiku who obviously saw that Tsuto wasn't his biological son. Tsuto was defeated by the party and was delivered, unconscious, to the guards of the Sandpoint Garrison.

Lonjiku Kaijitsu: Father to Ameiko and head of the Kaijitsu family, one of the 4 founding family of Sandpoint. He was killed in his own business, the Glassworks, by his 'son' Tsuto or the goblins under his command. His body was encased in melted glass, creating a gruesome display found by the party.

Father Abstalar Zantus: Priest of Desna, high priest of the Sandpoint Cathedral. He’s in his late forties and is Venmirl’s patron. He healed Naomi twice during the goblin attack. Picture

Father Ezakien Tobyn: Priest of Abadar and former High Priest of Sandpoint. He died in the Sandpoint fire of 4703 which burned most of Uptown. His remains were apparently stolen during or soon after the goblin raid.

Galdor: Calla’s 10 year-old half-brother. A half-orc, he’s part of a small gang of boys who do some mischief when they are bored.

Alic and Marran: Venmirl’s landlords. They are an old and friendly couple in their sixties.

Veznutt Parooh: Blue hair gnome cartographer and dabbler in wizardry. He’s the owner of the Way North, a map shop. He spoke to Izbahn before and after the goblin attack. He also lend the wizard a map of the Sandpoint Hinterlands.

Chask Haladan: Shopkeeper of the Curious Goblin, a bookshop. He’s an acquaintance of Syeira.

A very old Varisian woman: She sold a necklace to Calla during the Swallowtail Festival. She also told Calla something that sounded like a prophecy. Picture

Kendra Deverin: The head of her noble family and also appointed mayor of Sandpoint. She participated in the opening speech of the Swallowtail Festival. She leaded the meeting with Belor and Shalelu on the day following the raid. Picture

Belor Hemlock: Sheriff of Sandpoint and leader of the local militia. He’s of shoanti origins. He rebuked Calla after her confrontation with Das Korvut but was grateful of the group’s help with the town’s defense during the raid. He was at the meeting with Mayor Deverin and Shalelu on the day following the raid. He left for Magnimar the morning after, in hopes of gaining military support fromm the city.Picture

Shalelu: An elven warrior who makes her home in the wilds of central and western Varisia. She knows lots about the local goblin tribes and warned the sheriff and mayor of Sandpoint of the rising goblin menace.

Cyrdak Drokkus: Owner of the Sandpoint theatre. He participated in the opening speech of the Swallowtail Festival.

Shayliss: A beautiful young woman. She danced with Zelazny during the Festival.

Das Korvut: A drunk bald man at the Festival. Just before the start of the raid, he was chasing Galdor and his friends but was stopped by Calla. Belor Hemlock carried him away. Picture

Dramen: A half-elf. Naomi’s sibling in the Family. He was killed while fighting goblins during the raid.

Magdala and Saphira: A pair of siblings in the Family. Magdala is about 18 and the shy Saphira is 10.

Admon and Elijah: Another pair of siblings in the Family. These 2 are older and are the best warriors in Naomi’s small group. They saw Dramen’s death but couldn’t prevent it. Elijah was also badly hurt during that fight.

Daviren Hosk: An old but vigorous man. Owner of the Goblin Squash Stables. He helped Admon and Elijah defeat the goblins they encountered. He hates the little freaks with a passion. Venmirl interrogated their goblin prisoner with him. He has an old mare named 'Gertrude' that seem to obey him like a dog.

Jubrayl Vhiski: A native Varisian, he is, at least according to sheriff Hemlock, the leader of the Sczarni in Sandpoint.

Aldern Foxglove: The nobleman the group saved in front of White Deer Inn. He was quite interested in Syeira. He invited the group to a boar hunt after the goblin attack. The hunt went well enough, even if Calla and Izbahn's horse were both injured by a particularly large boar. Syeira and Aldern spent a night together but the nobleman had to leave town afterward, stating that he had business to take care of in Magnimar. Picture
